Hi! So I'm a child in robotics, and our competition is next Wednesday. I really need help with assigning a button to a motor on my Xbox controller. We have no mentor at all and we try to teach ourselves. We are all inexperienced. Please help asap!

well, right now there is nothing anyone can work with. we are all just waiting for u to provide something.
so as it is now u wont be able to receive any help 🙂
share ur code, explain the problem in more detail. explain what u tried or researched. what didnt work. whats unclear in particular and so on.
what dependencies are u using. what interface to talk to the robot/motors. what interface for the xbox controller habe u setup already. so many questions

Like do you work with ROS? Or just straight up Arduino? Tbh i don't see Java used very often, for the stuff you wanna build
