Can't seem to build the project with gradle

I've been trying to build TJ-Bot with gradle, following the "Setup-Project-locally" guide. And it always fail to build the project:

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

What went wrong:
class name.remal.gradleplugins.sonarlint.SonarLintPlugin tried to access private field org.gradle.api.plugins.quality.internal.AbstractCodeQualityPlugin.extension (name.remal.gradleplugins.sonarlint.SonarLintPlugin is in unnamed module of loader org.gradle.internal.classloader.VisitableURLClassLoaderInstrumentingVisitableURLClassLoader @649da633; org.gradle.api.plugins.quality.internal.AbstractCodeQualityPlugin is in unnamed module of loader org.gradle.initialization.MixInLegacyTypesClassLoader @9cb8225)

I have tried both "gradle build" and "./gradlew build". gradlew build always gives me:
Task :application:spotlessJavaCheck FAILED

I am unsure what to do, I have updated my java and my gradle to the latest version.
