Where is the file located, what is the name of the jar?

What do you mean you can't open? Does it have a main class? Is it compiled by a recent version of Java? Or there isn't a Java program in "open with" Windows dialog?

It's not possible unless you meant modding Minecraft which is the actual executable

I don't think people are too keen on downloading a random jar file.

To use a minecraft mod you need to first install the correct mod loader and then place the mod jar in a mods folder under your .minecraft
