A question to verified artists here, when a mod responded to you for your 'artist' role request, did they immediately give you the role? I am a bit confused to the mod's response to my request, they said "Thank you, I'll send them over.". I am not sure i understand what that meant.

Does that mean they are not the ones that give artist roles? And that they only sort whose request will be granted...?

Basically
a gargantuan, mysterious ravine has opened up in the middle of Siberia, which was quickly found out to contain a vast, deranged landscape and a plethora of creatures made of warped human bones fused directly to the ground and each other. The government had already announced the ravine before this discovery so everyone quickly found out about the bone pit and it gained the nickname 'The Grave' across the world. Some people with either enough expirience in self defense and exploration, or just people with no sense of self preservation, were let in to collect some research in exchange for money, basically a giant bounty hunt.
Although, the character the comic follows is the only one to know that the Grave isn't just a pit, but actually stretches several kilometers underground, and it gets weirder the deeper it goes.

I really want to draw deeply unsettling creatures but i cant seem to be able to replicate the effects other horror artists can make. Any tips to improve this piece @turbid dirge ?

Or at least, what traits/characteristic makes a horror drawing look unsettling

Hm, I can't see that many ways to improve it without redrawing the whole thing, but I do have some things.
First of all, eyelids should be forgotten about, especially on humanoid monsters, it adds a whole lot of uncaniness. Also he is missing a nose and the whole space where it should be, which makes it look just a tad goofy.
I like the grotesque, detached jaw, but adding way more, smaller teeth would make it look even creepier.

And as for tips on how to make drawings spooky in general, take inspiration from phobias or just any human fear, like spindlyness, sheer size, or good ol uncanny Valley.
I probably have more stashed away in my brain case, but I have wasted too much thought juice today to be able to remember.
