it's working
i celebrate halloween in my head lol
its really not a thing in hungary to dress up or trick or treat
however halloween comes from pagan roots and im kinda interested in those things so i'll probably read about it and maybe bake something
i'll definitely go out in the nature around halloween and just be happy there and look at the pretty colors and creatures
I am spooky season I celebrate by existing
We celebrate (Idk if that's the right word?) our relatives who are no longer with us by lighting candles and decorating their graves the day after Halloween. šÆļø
We do this as well!
That's why i included the other holiday option because I didn't want to say "i visit the graveyard" or something
I used to dress up and go trick or treating but this year I doubt I'll do anything D:
Corn maze
I just change my discord pfp every year
I'm 13 and I'm kinda getting too old to go trick or treating (or so I'm told by my mother)
I just want to do something simple
like walk around the neighborhood with my friends and scare people or some shit like that
I still wanna dress up tho
handing out candy is underrated!
parents think im too old to go trick or treating but i have every intention of goin man
and dressing up
I always have fun just dressing up and hanging out with my friends and handing out candy
as chucky š
then like watching a movie or something
LOL I love it tho. It's so beautiful and serene with all the candles : )
i never really went trick or treating, i just made a costume and carved pumpkins
Exactly!
I send creepy texts to random people on the internet/j
My family usually trick or treats but I usually stay behind and be the one who hands out candy to the kids
I love messing around with the kids and making them feel all special by complimenting their SPOOKY costumes itās adorable
i don't celebrate hallowen šµāš«
And we usually put up a movie on our garage with a projector screen (usually the nightmare before Christmas, although last year it was the corpse bride). The kids think itās super cool and I felt kinda bad cause one kid wanted to stop trick or treating and like just wanted to watch the movie with us lol
I like the Halloween vibes but I donāt really celebrate it anymore
I used to do an annual Halloween sleepover with my friends, but with covid and, yk, the downfall of the social life I had as a child, I really donāt anymore
i wish i still had an excuse to dress up and go trick or treating
nowadays i just hand out candy which is nice too
āItās Halloweenā is your excuse
true but iām 21 so i donāt think it would go over well
But why
oh iām sure you still could
i mean i donāt see anything wrong w whoever trick or treating but i feel like the current older generation would and it wouldnāt be worth it
I trick or treat still and Iām 19
oh thatās true. itās sometimes better not facing judgmental boomers
Like Dia de los muertos?
I have a big party with my friends in the yard with a fire and music and we all dress up
Whereās the āI grew up in a heavily Christian household and was never allowed to celebrate Halloween, including Trick or treating, and by the time I was old enough to make my own decisions on what I wanted to do for it, I didnāt really care about itā option
Did you celebrate all saints day then Alex?
No
Idek what that is
We were evangelical not catholic
So we donāt really have saints
lol
Ah okay. I don't think it's a catholic thing tho, I grew up Lutheran and we celebrate it. But it's more of a tradition these days
Catholic thing only I should say
well im catholic and i celebrate all saints, but at least people around here make it more about honoring the dead and less about saints
so yeah i dont think it's catholic-exclusive
it is a Catholic thing other denominations donāt have saints
all saints is different than all souls
Which is just dia de los muertos
oh yeah in hungary we have both all saints and the day of the dead
one on the 1st and other on the 2nd of november
yeah Christianās call it All Soulsā Day but itās the same thing and same day
I just said that I grew up Lutheran and that we celebrated it Idk what to tell you dude. We celebrate alla helgons dag= all saints day
Lutherans regard all dead Christianās as saints Iām pretty sure it was just all souls
or theyād be redundant
I am telling you that we celebrate all saints day and not all souls day. The church of Swedens coat is depicted with Saint Eric's crown. There are relics from saints in the church I grew up in.
but thatās a Lutheran denomination I aināt know that
definitely just have different customs
? I've stated that I was Lutheran several times. If you don't know what you are talking about why are you trying to lecture me about my own former faith then lol
Idk a ton about other denominations, but I can tell you that we donāt celebrate either of those
Saints or soulās
In what I grew up in
this does seem like a polarizing conversation lol
š
this is not a common thing lol
usually christians call it harvest festival or something
ive never heard of all souls day in my life lol
well i accidentally said "h"
h
H
h

H
it actually is š
your personal experience is not universal
i looked it up, it says it's a catholic thing and it's separate from all saints day and takes place on November 2nd
crazy how that is what I said
also it's not just my experience. I know hundreds of christians and non of them celebrate it and I've never heard of it before
lol I got confused, you were talking about day of the dead and i thought you were talking about all saints day
it is a catholic thing tho
Catholics are Christians
I just got confused. I thought you were saying that it's the normal thing for Christians to do instead of All Saints Day.
yeah, but the wording of things made me think you were specifically talking about other denominations than catholicism
it was just a misunderstanding lol
oh yeah no idk if denominations that donāt do all saints day do anything
guess it was yeah
sorry about that lol
no worries
I celebrate la castanyada, and dia de todos los santos
LEVEL UP: You are now level 10!
We eat panallets, chestnuts and sweet potatos
