Oh, no. 😭
stranger things fans are reaching greater delusions than clikkies now
I mean we did the same back then
I’m crine
How I'm feeling waking up to this
What’s conformity gate mean
It’s the theory that the finale and half of the prior episode actually take place in an illusion by Vecna and the real finale’s going to be dropped yesterday.
And I thought TOP fans were delulu
seems like we are not the only ones
Stranger Things fans versus the Clique.
sob
me when i spend millions on making 2 episodes just to reveal that it was all actually an illusion and a dream 😻
Tbf, there was a lot that was only explained in this scenario
But turns out the duffer brothers just... Forgot how to make a TV show during covid
Eh, idk, I enjoyed season 5, especially the last episode. never believed in Episode 9 or other stuff. So yeah. In the end I’m happy in how it turned out
honestly
st had plot holes in the past as well
people just didnt care

idk what this is but its sick
yeah but never this glaringly
like the end of season 4 was retconned levels of bad
i think vecna overall was kinda mid
I feel like we all forget that we literally see the mindflayer storm actually just already in hawkins
vecna was fantastic in season 4, he was intimidating, had a clear weakness they just found too late, and was very thematically relevent to the coming of age story
i think the story just got wayyy too big
at the start it was just this separate dimension where the demogorgons took you and now its jus a fucking wormhole connecting 2 dimension like thats too much
theres no way they can show all that and make it still feel like original stranger things
yeahh, like it wouldnt be easy to make a full season based on the end of s4 but you could easily flip the script of season 1 no? holly wheeler etc still get taken to the upside down, which is now technically safer as the rightside up has become a series of bunkered down civvies and the millitary occasionally sending in troops (maybe kay still thinks this is on eleven, giving her an actual reason to go for her)
vecna is too human also, and clearly goes easy on them
they dont even care about the upside down particles anymore
the upside down overall just got less mysterious
yeah, that was also incredibly disappointing, that was poisonous
imho if they just shifted the mystery from the upside down to how the mindflayer did it thatd be fine
yeah
but no
you get an elden ring boss fight
that lasts 10 minutes
and thats it
you inevitably cannot keep focus on a singular mystery for 5 seasons, like it has to shift the specific mystery between the core problems
"why can demos open gates" "why is the mindflayer a cloud? it has a body? what?"
i think they added a little too many mysteries and just couldnt keep up
and explain everything
I’ve not seen a thing yall said and I’m not back reading but as soon as they introduced Vecna as the big bad, a lackluster ending was inevitable
true
yeah... like uhhh oh!
This is your story and uhmmmmm 🏏 This is your worldbuilding and your world building is DESTROYED by netflix's second screen strategy
season 4 ending was pretty cool it should have just ended there
s5 if it had to happen shouldve been maybe 5 episodes and they should all have been star court level hype
make them not realise its a wormhole until that shit is ontop of them with demos pouring out
I don’t think S5 should have happened, I think it should have just been like S4 Part 2
They introduced characters out of nowhere and expected us to love them when they didn’t really do anything and it’s the first time they appear
well ppl did love them i guess
the characters are great
I just find it hard to really care about a lot of them since you’re not given that much time to get to know them without cutting back on the time you spend with the OG characters
I think it’s a tricky balance
yeah but you would then have to say the same of bob newby
Bob was the designated “I’m gonna die this season” character
he got a similar amount of screentime
i watched the IT tv show weeks ago and..... the characters were just kinda mid and the dialogues were hard to like, made me miss stranger things
yeah and derek/holly were designed to be the torch passing characters, it wasnt like we had no idea where they were going
Oooh this is something I wish they changed up more; I wish that they felt more confident in ending their existing characters stories, because by the end of S4 it felt like they were just going to add a new character in each season to kill
max, murray, derek, erica
each season has had characters that end up on their own unique track
I understand why they don’t want to, as many had become core parts of the show to people but it felt like the stakes were decreasing each season rather than increasing, as it felt less and less likely the characters would be in any real danger, except with Max which I really enjoyed
like, the things they have to do got more and more insane... went from closing a single portal to destroying a fucking wormhole but at the same time the main "monsters" kinda did the opposite... it went from a demogorgon to a massive meat puppet spider monster (which was perfect) to just a normal ass dude, which COULD be worse than the meat puppet but he simply goes easy on them and is extra stupid
anyway i liked the ending, the whole show has this kinda "fairy tale" vibe so i can forgive the plot holes but i definitely think they went too big with all the interdimensional stuff
Mhm, it felt like the stakes deescalated while the scope escalated if that makes any sense
imo vecna would have been infinitely cooler if he was portrayed as the "general" he was
instead of being the intended big bad
mhm
yuppp
i wanted them to fight the massive shadow mindflayer bruhhhh
i dont care about them destroying a literal wormhole bruh i want them to fight the mind flayer
shadow mindflayer shouldve been teased the second will got his powers
also theres literally no fucking way a bunch of kids can destroy a wormhole im sorry
like he taps into the hivemind how didnt he feel the mindflayer again?
I thought they were gonna do smth where Vecna and the Mind Flayer we’ve seen is just one ‘arm’ of the true Mind Flayer’s form, reaching out from Dimension X into the upside down and normal world, and the Mind Flayer is the cosmic lovecraftian entity it was made out to be
Like the Mind Flayer got its weird tendrils wrapped around loads of things and one of them is Vecna and he uses his powers for his own goals, but the Mind Flayer is using him for its own goals too
yeah the mindflayer was so much cooler when it was this ominous formless being that would whisper into the ears of the vulneerable
like a mix between cthulu and the king in yellow
vecna underestimated them in season 4 and almost died then he DID IT AGAIN in season 5 and died in 10 minutes, like... season 4 should have been it for vecna, they should have just made the mind flayer the big bad of season 5, vecna literally went from this mysterious general to just a random guy which clearly doesnt learn from his mistakes
real
but the difference there is that a lot of that was based on previously established patterns and the boys are actually decent at writing 😭😭😭
I mean I knew were was nothing, did I still stay awake until 2 am? Absolutly.
thanks, i just watched a video on it hahaha
fair
rewatching st2 and when billy gets taken you can hear the vecna chimes
id say go on ao3 bc the duffer hacks could never do this
Anyone else now confused who possessed Billy in s3?
It made sense to be the mind flayer but if it’s vecna it doesn’t fit
Definitely the Mind Flayer.
Yeah just when they do the vecna flashbacks in s4 they have it being vecna who did it
it was vecna technically
the mind flayer cant really do anything
the particles just connected billy to the hivemind probably
and vecna spoke through him
