City Walls however encapsulates the dema storyline, which has always felt more like what tøp is truly about to me - we all have our own demons that keep us trapped in cycles of despair and depression and fighting to defeat them gives us all purpose

Like I just started REALLY listening to TØP last year after Clancy dropped so as a new gen fan it took some time for me to really grow to love Breach the way I do now n Downstairs was one of the tracks that drew me in. The raw emotion in the vocals, the lyrical parallels between both religion and emotional insecurity- brother. BROTHERRRR AUGH it's truly what made the album for me at first I'm ngl. I'm more of a Tally / One Way kinda guy now but it still holds a dear place in my heart

I love RAB, but they have improved so much and City Walls also feels like it encapsulates the band sonically as well because it has so much more variation and more seasoning. I think it's just down to personal preference. I like City Walls but I think everything that it does is done better in so many other places in their discography. And even as a fan of the lore I feel like it's lacking the finality that it should have had. Downstairs, while sounding like RAB and Vessel, builds upon that OG TOP sound with a more mature and modern sound that they've spent their entire career buiding

They differ in that downstairs is more raw and direct while city walls is more cinematic and lore-related
To go a bit deeper lyrically, downstairs is focused heavily on themes of faith and belief, while city walls being the major lore-ending song and music video, has lyrics uniquely tied to the narrative finale
Also city walls shifts in mood a lot more than downstairs, the buildup at the start, the second verse atmosphere leading into the second chorus, the draw-back into the long, ethereal bridge and eventually leading into the climax which also serves as a call-back to Vessel
Whereas downstairs does change a lot as well but has a slightly more repetitive feel mostly because it's a lot slower, probably the slowest song on the album (which isn't necessarily a bad thing though)
