Joel wasn't dumb, he helped people in the second game because he learned how to rely on others for once. Tommy was the one who introduced them, but it's almost certain that they did that with everyone else too. Abby helped them at first, so why not trust her with a harmless first name? This was pure bad luck, not Joel being dumb. As for playing as Abby, that's the exact reaction they were looking for. They want you to be disgusted. Joel's killer is what Abby is, until she parallels with Joel by taking Lev under her wing. There are different perspectives, and you need to open your eyes to see them.||

|| her dead dad was a terrorist in medical position who was going to kill ellie without even letting her know, im not saying it needed to be a sunshine and rainbows but its unrealistic, joel isn't stupid he survived for decades and knows how evil people can be when he was part of those hunter groups prior to the first game, no one would go stand in the middle of the room and say "the names joel" even if tommy introduced them first. and abby and lev are a terrible rehashing in an attempt to get us to like abby when it doesnt change her psychopathic behavior and how she gets to live her life with lev in the same way that ellie and joel could have, ultimately ellie loses everything and abby gains a significant amount||

||I don't agree with the fireflies-- I didn't like Jerry either. Joel isn't stupid, and he did survive, and he knows how evil people can be-- and then he met Ellie, and his entire world shifted. That's when he learned how NOT evil people can be. He was a different man after finding her. He was the old Joel, before the apocalypse hardened him; when he still had his Sarah. He also never said his name out loud... for Abby and Lev: they were not an attempt to make you like Abby. It wasn't a rehashing, it was a demonstration of what happens to people. You gain those relationships and become incredibly protective and attached because that's all you get in the apocalypse. They were all each other had left. Same with Joel and Ellie. Ellie lost her people due to her decision to chase revenge, then ended up saving Abby in a moment of clarity, just like Joel. Abby isn't a psycho, she's just been raised to be a steel soldier. Again, I don't like her!!! But there is so much more to the depth of this story than you are apparently able to see||

|| i just don't buy the joel softened argument, its out of character, he's still in an apocalypse where he's going on patrol routes he knows people can't be trusted, let alone random people who are inviting them into closed quarters. and i want there to be more depth to the story but the depth just isnt there for me, joel is killed by this mystery woman in the first hour of the game and then im forced to not only play as her for half of the game with better gameplay sections and more moral missions to try and force me to sympathize with her but also forced to literally pit myself against ellie and beat tf outta her, she's not a character that someone can connect to and the attempt to force that on players and leave her with a better ending than ellie was terrible to me||

||Well, we don't really know if she got a better ending, that's kinda the point. Maybe Lev died right after the end we saw. Maybe Ellie and Dina reconciled. We just don't know. And if you think back to before the outbreak... Joel became a different person when it started. He was not that unbreakable statue we see during the first game. He was a father first. Sarah was his baby. He trusted that soldier not to shoot, he begged; after Sarah died, that's when he realized that version of him won't work anymore. That's when he became the Joel we know. And then-- after all those years, Sarah came back, in the form of Ellie. We got a glimpse of who Joel used to be; who he really was, under all those layers of stone. Joel met a fate that was very ironic for his character, and it was even more awful in that regard. We also quickly figure out that Abby isn't a mystery woman, and again the idea isn't to sympathize with her-- the idea is to challenge you. It's supposed to make you uncomfortable. You don't want to fight Ellie, but you have to see the other side at least once. You have to understand every angle, even if you don't like it. I felt the same way you did when I first played, and then I actually used critical analysis to determine that everything in this story was completely intentional. It wasn't shitty or out of character; it was deliberate shifts of character, because that's what happens when you're forced into the worst possible situation forever.||

I personally prefer the production of Intentions, because Tyler had to go back through and listen to Truce backwards, take the music from it and make it sound like a proper song and what he wanted it to, and then lined up the lyrics in time with each other while also writing lyrics for Intentions that made sense and still had meaning

I loooove Rawfear, but Intentions is impressive, meaningful, and powerful

Theyre both so lyrically incredible. Rawfear is about life and is honestly really insightful and powerful, whereas Intentions is a more personal message and i feel like its more powerful in some ways idk tho. Musically rawfear dominates bc its new whereas intentions is just an old song reversed, though rawfear sounds a bit cringe to me sometimes, smth abt the “nippin heels” and the “ah ah ah ah”.
