Oldies Station is mainly special because 1) “Push on through” is a great thing to hear when you feel like you have been pushing for a long time, 2) statements like “You don’t quite mind how long red lights are taking” shows that you have grown in patience and maturity and learning how to be content. You used to mind, but now you don’t, and hearing that in the song makes you realize that. BUT it could also be that you stopped caring about getting to your next destination, and that feeling like nothing matters and you are just going with the motions. It depends on your mood, and maybe you feel both ways.
3) “You’re in a crowd at her first dance recital” is special because you remember being younger and not knowing what direction your life would take, but then you blink and suddenly you realize you have been raising a child for 4 years and now she is performing at her first dance recital. It is both allowing you to look back and see how much you have grown, BUT also sit there in the crowd and feel isolated and still misunderstood after all that time, and this happy moment still has this cloud that has been over your head. A smaller cloud, but still a cloud. It depends on your mood, and maybe you feel both ways. The song allows for that flexibility

But I also understand not really feeling strongly about a song (considering Midwest Indigo hasn’t hit me yet)

Oh 100 percent it’s got such a lovely meaning and the transition from stay alive to push on through is one of the most beautiful things ever, I think when I get older it’ll hit much harder, since I’m still in the stay alive phase for now
