Also for travel in Bangor: cabs are your most reliable option, rideshares such as Lift/Uber are super limited here, and often late night there’s no drivers out for rideshares whatsoever. Sometimes you get lucky on concert nights, but don’t rely on it, plan ahead if you need a cab (they can also be scheduled!) Dicks Taxi is one of the cheapest in the area. The city buses stop running at 5pm on weekdays, so that’s not an option either. Greyhound and Concord buslines both have stops in Bangor, Concord is reasonably close to downtown (closer to the airport) and you can get a cab, but we’re the last stop on their route from Boston/Portland/Lewiston/Augusta. the Greyhound station is basically in Hermon/edge of Bangor, not close at all and will be a costly ride

Where are you getting that info from? The box office doesn’t open until 3pm on show days, and they don’t give out pit wristbands until doors open, after you’re inside the venue, through security (not at the box office). There’s no reentry so you can’t get a wristband then leave.

Also, for folks thinking they’re going out at midnight, I can’t emphasize enough how likely it is the cops will ask you to leave. Additionally, the closest bathroom is an outhouse that’s about a 7 minute walk away until Dunkin and McDonalds open their dining rooms, and they require purchase to use the bathroom (and they’re often closed even for paying customers!). Homeless folks often are sleeping on the benches in the area and it’s not always safe for people especially who aren’t familiar with Maine or Bangor. (Again, speaking as someone who’s been homeless in Bangor for years before!)

I get being excited, but this isn’t even a sold out show. Even for sold out shows the policies are still the same. Save your energy, show up an hour or two before doors, you’ll still be at the front of the line. The pit is massive, if you’re in this chat I can almost guarantee you’ll get to be against the rail

I know there have been some warnings in here about Ubering in Bangor: how sketchy is it to rely on an Uber to get from my bus to drop my stuff at a hotel then go to the venue around like 4:30pm? Availability should be fine for an uber at that time, but I would still keep a backup plan like a taxi in mind, and know the waits for an uber can be long, there’s usually only one or two drivers out at a time. Ubers are also very expensive here— often more than a taxi is

Folks are SAYING they’re lining up at midnight for tour wristbands for the pit, but that’s just what the venue says.

Local laws don’t permit camping (including for concerts) or loitering in public places, AND the waterfront where the concert lineup is at is a public park, which is closed until sunrise. It is extremely likely that until the sun comes up around 6:30 am, that you will be asked to leave by police.

If you are traveling from out of state and planning to do this you NEED to know:

• Bangor is rural. It is a small town, especially to anyone coming from out of state.
• There is NOTHING open at midnight in Bangor aside from the circle k up the road. The circle k closes their public restrooms at 8 pm. Sometimes the Main street Dunkin and McDonalds will have their drive thrus open that late but not always.
• The nearest public restroom is a shady single stall outhouse, which is often in disrepair and gross. It is about a 7 minute walk from the venue.
• There are almost always no Ubers or Lifts or other rideshares around that late at night, and some taxi companies even close in the evening hours. The only public transportation is the bus that stops running at 5 pm

Also, the train tracks there are active tracks for freight trains, do NOT stop on them. The train goes through once or twice a day sometimes

Many homeless people sleep on the public benches in that area at night and are often asked to move, the police come through there about every hour (sometimes more) to tell people to move. I used to be homeless here for many years so I’m speaking from experience, but also just from others who have attempted to do similar things for other concerts, you will be asked to move. And if you don’t have transportation, if you’re not used to being in 35F cold windy weather, if you need to pee or eat, you will be basically out of luck

The pit hasn’t even sold out, and there’s not much local hype for this concert. Theyve been promoting the 30$ GA tickets for months now (the cheapest tickets they ever do)

Even Mainers don’t like going to an outdoor concert come October, it’s gonna be CHILLY

In mid September in 2023, when Shinedown and Papa Roach came to the waterfront, people were actively shivering around me, doing jumping jacks between songs to keep warm, Shinedown’s singer kept making comments about the cold, some of the people drinking had to be wrapped in hypothermia blankets by EMTs because alcohol lowers your body temp and they collapsed. It was ROUGH.

That concert was in the mid 50s on a nights that wasn’t very windy. This concert will be 10-15 degrees colder, and expected to be very windy

Lots of wildlife here! Deer, porcupines, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, turkeys, moose, and bears are all very common especially on the highways and are probably the most frequent cause of accidents here. We’re one of the most rural states, there’s more trees than people, the only true “city” technically is Portland. Bangor has the last hospital northbound (the entire top half of the state!), there’s the 100 mile wilderness nearby. We don’t even have a walk in care in Bangor now. I cannot stress enough how rural it is, I really worry about folks who are unprepared for how rough Maine can be if you’re not used to being in the middle of nowhere.

They say “small” ones are allowed, but generally unless you email ahead, the security staff get the final say. They had me leave to bring my meds back home once, despite calling ahead, with my name on the bottles and a print off of my script from the doctor. It wasn’t even anything crazy it’s medication to manage my cardiac conditions

Facts. They did the same thing with my snacks (for my blood sugar!) also with a doctors note, because I called ahead. I gave them the name of the staff I talked to and they didn’t care. Had to throw them out (and subsequently almost fainted and was shaking with my hypoglycemia). I ONLY email them now, otherwise they never get the info to the security team

At one point they tried to say I couldn’t bring my wheelchair to the ADA section because it has seats (I had done this without issue many times before) the seats in the ADA are just folding chairs that get moved

Part of the reason this venue sucks so much is that they hire all new staff every summer season and they’re all contracted positions, so they can pick and choose which concerts they work, so basically aside from higher ups, all the people you interact with are completely new every time. Definitely be certain where you go, when people start lining up, they have staff wearing and carrying signs to direct you, and it’s likely the staff will walk up and ask you what section you’re in and direct you. Double check with multiple staff though, sometimes they direct wrong (I had to crawl up a flight of stairs and stand for half an hour because they fucked up one time)

But I’m disabled so they assumed I was in the 100s ADA section, not the GA lawn ADA section, their fault. I tried to tell them I never go in that way for lawn tickets but alas

Sorry ppl ruined some of the experience for you @spice oxide and @zenith urchin, I hope the good outweighed the bad still 🫶 yall, if you ain’t acting right at a top show, you need to check your priorities— the pit is the pit ofc but being rude or downright evil to the people around you is losing the plot fr.

Glad to say this was my partner and I’s first top pit experience and was overall very positive! Really lovely people in line and at the show. Some folks weaseled their way in front of our spot second row center right but we moved right next to them to be able to see and they actually took really good video and were willing to share after the show lol so all good things!

I really appreciate that! There were plenty of folks there who were so kind, looked out for me and checked on me too! It was very much 50/50. I’m so grateful to the people who literally helped keep me upright, I was so afraid I was gonna get crushed if I fell. I’ve been in so many pits and the crowd was the worst for this one. Metal/hardcore/punk pits I’ve never had an issue! This was my first tøp show though, and some people were downright unhinged at the show last night, which is wild since we’re all there for the same purpose!
