called the venue today and just wanted to let everyone know they do unfortunately have a really bad homeless problem around the venue and they recommend not getting there super early because it's a safety issue

hii guys this is my first time in pit and i was wondering if anyone had any advice or tips :3

hiii!

if you want to get “close”, there’s a wristband system i’m sure you’ve heard of. they get handed out around 8am! if you don’t want to camp, you can arrive at the venue around 4pm.

stay hydrated and drink lots of water. eat before the show. water rarely gets passed to the back of pit, so try your best to stock your body up on fluids and carbs

make friends !! that’s the best part. if not almost all clikkies are super friendly and would be more than willing to talk to you. that way, if you’re feeling lost or confused, you have people you already familiarize yourself with to help you out!

get as much rest as you can before your show. you’re gonna need it for queueing, socializing, and most importantly, enjoying the show. you can always grab a wristband (if queuing early enough) and head back to your hotel to sleep, but if you are coming just after 8, enjoy your day and take it easy

it’s not a fan line or a check in system just literally following venue rules and having someone to reach out to if accommodations are needed

I think what they’re getting at is people who are disabled and need accommodations will be placed at the front and then they’ll go where they need to go so they don’t feel rushed and avoid getting injured (?). The point is to attempt to prevent people from injuring disabled fans who chose to go to this show because of the fact it’s a smaller show with less people.
I reached out to ask how this is going to work personally since I’m disabled and have a four hour drive and that’s what it seems to me but I also don’t expect anyone to accommodate me since people don’t often accommodate me anyway.

Yeah the staff here are STRICT, be sure to follow all their rules and play it safe, they WILL turn you away if you are even close to violating them, especially with bags/items you bring in.

Speaking as someone who’s been homeless off and on in Bangor for over a decade, if you think you’re gonna camp, you will be asked to move by the cops very quickly, theyll follow you to see where you go. Don’t mess around and find out, just get a hotel/motel in the area. Bangor is also smaller than people expect and parking fills up in the area very quickly

And the amphitheater is on the waterfront, it gets very windy and the wind chill will make it feel even colder than 40F

Oh and the venue is cashless! Also important for folks to plan food/water in advance. The concessions are super pricey too, I was in Worcester Mass the other day for the Sleep Token concert at DCU and it was like half the cost for their concessions

And almost everything will be closed by the time the concert is done, including most or all the fast food restaurants. There’s a circle k up the road that’s 24 hour for gas and snacks but their bathrooms close by 8pm. There’s free public restrooms around that are single stall and accessible, but are often a bit gross, and have foot and half gaps under all the walls, so it’s extremely cold in them. The closest one to the venue is between Seadog and the pickering Square parking garage, edit to add: by single stall I mean it’s a singular bathroom, the equivalent of an outhouse

depending on when the concert gets out i know the mcdonalds in Brewer (across the bridge) is open until 11 PM

If you’re of age, most bars downtown are open on weekdays until 1 am, but will probably ask you to purchase something to give you the bathroom keys. Most bars that do have a kitchen — such as Paddy Murphys (Irish pub), Umami and the Key Room (ramen noodles and bar), Nocturnum (American pub), Happy Endings (themed dessert style cocktails), Blaze (pizza) — will have kitchens closed by 11 pm. Orono Brewing Company is great if you love trying local beers. All the restaurants I mentioned are generally also very LGBTQ friendly. Paddy Murphys has a large step to get inside and is not wheelchair accessible at all. The other bars are accessible in a wheelchair!

Nope, the only McDonald’s open late is the main street and broadway ones, both open til midnight. As far as I last checked, there’s no 24 hour fast food rn

Sometimes they’re open til 1am but it changes frequently, it’s likely for a concert night theyll stay open later

Yes, it’s the side by the train tracks on railroad street, the Northeast entrance! They usually have staff standing outside with big signs that say “ask me questions” and they’ll often walk up to you and ask what section you’re in before you even have a chance to guess lol. Be sure if you’re in the pit that you don’t go to the Main street entrance, if you can see the Dunkin’ Donuts you’re in the wrong place. And you don’t wanna get stuck in the wrong line and miss your chance to be up close!

There’s tons of small nonprofits in the area that do like 10$-20$ parking in the businesses lots in the area, Shaws is right across from the venue and usually has parking for 20$, but if you don’t mind a walk and get there early, the side streets sometimes have free parking, just be sure to follow the signage for it, they’re strict during concerts

Also waters are over 10$ inside the venue so it’s cheaper to get a Gatorade and refill it at the station. You can bring in an empty REUSABLE water bottle with no company logos on it. Empty single use bottles aren’t allowed even if you remove the label.
