It starts by saying “I wish that I had two faces, to prove which theory works. Yelling on the street corner, or cleverly masking your words.” This line connects with goner “I’ve got two faces, Blurry’s the one I’m not… I need your help to take him out.” The two faces in clear are talking about what Tyler thinks the two ways of sharing the gospel are. Tyler and Josh are Christian, and Tyler believes that he should share about his faith. But doesn’t know if he should just come out and say it, or “cleverly mask” it in his lyrics. He does this method in many songs like car radio, doubt, taxi cab. But in goner the face of hiding the words in his lyrics is referred to as blurry face, and he says he needs God’s help to get rid of him and tell people about the gospel. We know that the black paint on Tyler’s neck represents Blurryface controlling him with insecurity. I think this includes insecurity about sharing his faith with the world. At the end of clear it says “I will tell you what I can, but your mind will take a stand. I sing of a greater love, let me know when you’ve had enough.” He is coming right out and saying what is usually hidden in his lyrics and he says each person’s “mind will take a stand.” Not everyone is receptive to the gospel for various reasons. That’s why the song is called Clear, he’s making it clear what he has been singing about this whole time. There is a YouTube channel called “no phun in dema” that has a lot of other theories of how the lore connects to Christianity that are really compelling.

yeah i knew that clear is one of the most personal songs to tyler, it's related to how he wants to make clear his christian beliefs (and also talks about introspecting to discover your purpose in the rap btw)

but i didn't know how it would connect to goner and overall the entire blurryface story, it's really interesting and it makes clear more underrated than it already was

i always thought it was genuinely the most underrated rab song, but now i'm pretty much certain about that fact.
