oldies station i think
prob like tear in my heart
ATROFD
i feel like they’d get oldies station the most
Shy away
formidable or navigating
atrofd
or at the risk
I showed my mother Trees and she loved it
Oldies Station is the first one which I showed my mom the lyrics to
oldies or house of gold
lavish either oldies station or taxi cab
are the first that come to mind
Semi-automatic
did she like it?
Vignette or jumpsuit
chlorine
navigating is my go to when showing when showing them to friends
chorline bc my dad keeps referencing it bc i listen to it a lot smh
she’s a big poetry person so yes
HDS or IOFB
Navigating
Can’t say anything cause tøp is the family band
Next semester or house of gold
i've actually done this: recommended the craving to my cousin and he loved it
Hometown
Oldies
Holding onto you
Morph 😩✌🏻
i showed my hispanic parents heavydirtysoul and they loved it
holding onto you or friend please
Gums for hands or my blood
Or the craving
I actually did this and recommended 'House of Gold' which at the time, we only had the YouTube App on the TV to play it though... so I put it on forgetting about the dismembered torsos in the MV. They loved the song, but mum freaked out at the video lol 😄
Trees
Idkkk all iof and hemmmm
probably the whole self titled album
Laneboy, or migraine, hell kitchen sink maybe
House of gold
Isle of flightless birds
Holding on to you or like tear in my heart
The craving (my mum loved it) and also overcompensate
Lavish mostly the final part/j
Message Man or At The Risk Of Feeling Dumb
Hometown
Gum For Hands yummy
i also learned to play house of gold for my mom and she loved it too
some RaB
House of gold, my mom loves this song :))
navigating or chlorine
Ode to sleep
Addict with a pen
Navigating, morph, or levitate (my parents got good because of all three)
or House of gold
this.
HOMETOWN 111%😫😫😫
Guns for hands
I showed lavish to my father and he loved the video
guns for hands
AS HE SHOULD
Damnit thanks for checking my spelling 😆
LAVISH IS TOO ICONIC
Ride
Obviously, it's original, simple, well known and it's the best way imo to get introduced 😄
IDC GOIGN STRAIGHT INTO THE FAVS, TRAPDOOR. OR TRUCE🗣️🗣️🗣️
MY BLOOD
TRAPDOOR
I showed it to other family members but they don't speak english so they didn't get it 🥲
Pantaloon
Ode to sleep, Ride or Fake you out
tb saga
I once played Lavish in the car with the loudest volume ever and there was my dad but I live in Italy so
The hype or navigating
Maybe overcompensate
OTS or ATROFD
nico and the niners, chlorine, routines, my family likes those ones
house of gold cuz like if im recommending to my mom, it'd be funny if it was about her
Valid
love the pfp
All of them.
But uhh.. prolly like Trench and sai songs
I would recommend Routines, Streesed Out And Paladin Strait
march to sea and isle of flightless birds are my moms favs from self titled im pretty sure
My Blood
thank you:))
of course!
I would recommend Ride, Stressed Out, Paladin Strait, Routines, Chlorine, Snap Back, Ode To Sleep, My Blood, Jumpsuit.
the hype is a pretty good starter
gotta say, when I clicked on your profile to see your pfp better, I did not expect to see Three 6 Mafia playing LOL
maybe stressed out? they probably heard it before
LMAOOO i listen to everything honestly
Fair play mate
I’m a proper hip-hop head so it’s always nice to see
funny natn came on immediately after much duality
i love it
Hometown
we should prolly move to a different channel but top 5 rappers go
personal list, not goats
I’d probably say The Judge
The hype
ruby or lovely
heavydirtysoul
When you know you know
prolly oldies station or at the risk
House of Gold or the Judge maybe? Or Overconpensate
honestly stressed out because thats probably the most recognizable, after that i would say lovely and oldies station :3
guys.... its gotta be bounce man
I actually did specifically choose two songs when I first introduced tøp to my mom (she had already heard stressed out many times lol).
I played Addict with a Pen and Taxi Cab for her since I was trying to market tøp as "Christian guys who make regular music" and I thought the religious themes in those songs would make her be more accepting to them 😆
It really depends on the person which song I'd recommend to them but I feel like Ride is a pretty safe bet. Also my blood, next semester, or holding on to you
I also just made that into a playlist if y'all would like to listen to it. :)
Playlist Link: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0r0cORamn3R8aOe2pq49Rk?si=d5291922b4044f8c
Probably mulberry street
Trees
Jumpsuit
my non bounce man answer if either guns for hands or forest
Tear in my heart, maybe
Stressed Out and then hit em with The Judge
Probably Ride or The Hype
the entirety of scaled and icy🤗🤗
Depends on the family member tho
Oldies station, the craving, or stressed out for family (exception for my mom cuz i showed her shy away too) and then the entire discography for anyone else
Heavydirtysoul, I put it on my father and he became a fan of them :D
my dad liked ode to sleep. my mother liked most of it.
forest or snap back
Oldies station
jumpsuit, holding on to you, hometown or oldies station
lavish
good day (one of my mom’s favorite songs now), the craving sv, guns for hands maybe
Lavish, Øldies Statiøn, Midwest Indigø and Next Semester.
probably hometown, jumpsuit, hds, and/or choker
my parents first heard hometown i think
Overcompensate tbh and idk why
Level of concern
Vignette or level of concern
Definitely one of the more pop music aligning ones
I thibk my mom thinks their weird haha
Probably scaled and icy
My sister listens to them a little tho
Something for SAI or levitate
Chlorine, Air Catcher, Oldies Station. It is really hard to pick just one as I love pretty much everything they have put out!
House of gold is so catchy that I think my parents would probably enjoy it
my parents got me into them sooo..
if they didnt prob shy away tho
its a good song to get people hooked on them depending on what they like
Yeah I think shy away
Yeah I think SAI to ease them in
i already showed my mom My Blood before and she said she liked it
Guns for Hands would be a good start tbf
Definitely an ear worm (in a good way ofc)
lane boy would also be good now that i think about it
Not a only rap song cuz my family doesn't really enjoy rap soooo probably hoty cuz there isn't only rap and it's a really representative Tøp song.
Or Midwest Indigo
guys i showed my dad house of gold and he hated it 😔
Holding on to You. Imo, it defines what type of music twenty one pilots is
How
LEVEL UP: You are now level 7!
hes very selective w his music
That’s the thing, there’s a bit for everyone
Really, what does he listen to usually
he usually listens to music from my culture or like music with an electronic feel
so i showed him hometown and he liked that
Oh okay
My blood
anything off clancy probably
Stressed out purely because they’ll be like “oh yeah those guys” and be more open to listening to other stuff
Paladin strait, to dive them feet first into the lore
Same logic with LOC
Idk my family got me into the band in the first place
What song did you first listen to?
Tear in my heart
LOOOL
my blood
Imagine their confusion when Nico speaks at the end
"so few so proud so emotional hello clancy kip wtf does that even mean"
Oldies station fs
“Who’s this Clancy fella”
"i thought you said their names are tyler and josh??"
“Clancy’s friend sounds like he really needs a cough sweet and some lemon tea”
STOOOP
jumpsuit
They’ll probably complain that, because of the Balaclava, I’m listening to gang music
forest or house of g
Ode to sleep
That's there one song with a swear lol
house of gold to my mom the only awkward thing is that theres unnecessary screaming in the song
The entirety of scaled and icy. What a banger album
Probably Stressed Out ngl lmao
Although I think the first one I showed to my mom was Jumpsuit, and I made 2 friends listen to Vessel to get em started
tbh i think overcompensate: to me it perfectly encapsulates their vibe as a whole so i think it'd be great for a first time listener
Tear in my heart BECAUSE IT WORKS EVERYTIME I SWEAR
oldies station is the song of growing up, it's perfect for them!
though overcompensate or ode to sleep are good songs to recommend for the first time, because they cover multiple styles and are an amalgam of everything that tøp is, both lyrically and with instrumentals and style
but those two are more general, in this contex I'd go with oldies station because of what i said
Ode to sleep is the worst pick BECAUSE HE SWEARS
barely
What does he say?
you don't want to show the one song with anything profane
He says the w word
At the end of the second verse
"metaphorically I'm a wh*re and that's denial number 4"
my mom actually really likes their new album but I'd definitely show them like jumpsuit
Probably House of Gold because it’s very digestible and wouldn’t scare her off getting too deep on mental health. (She doesn’t like actually talking about what our whole family deals with.)
One day I was playing top when I took the kids swimming at my mom’s. She heard the “selling your hair” lyric from WDBWOTV and she was like “what????” 😂
Idk if that really counts
Fr, whenever I sing along I’m always like “METAPHORICALLY IM A 👀🤭 AND THATS DENIAL NUMBER FOUR” cos I don’t want my mom to get mad at me Lmaoo
this.
Porbably the Pantaloon or house of gold.
Chlorine definitely
Sippin on straight chlorine
slurps
Mmm ahh
That’s the good stuff
Trap door
Bit sus lol
And then the whole Clancy album
Oldies Station for my dad cuz I know he likes it but probably Tear In My Heart for my mom
Facts
"Mom, you don't understand. He's not choking people!"
Screen, my parents like piano stuff lol
for me, either saturday or the hype
I showed my mother House of Gold when she and I were talking. If I could do it again, Routines in the Night.
chlorine
My mother heard Saturday on the radio and she straight up told me "this sucks"
Saturday
Car Radio
Stressed Out
Johnny Boy
My parents already like twenty one pilots, but lowkey, Redecorate
can’t help falling in love cover
but only my dad and brother like them
my dads favourite is slowtown and brothers is doubt
Forest or navigating
prove me wrong?
depends who tbh could be either jumpsuit or tear in my heart
Oldies station, timh or loc
It depends on their mood. I think I would show them either House of Gold, Oldies Station, or Mulberry Street
Friend please
Jumpsuit; bc it’s my favorite Tøp song and my dad and his side of the family love rock music
House of golf lol I think I’m gonna call it that from now on
my mom: mulberry street
my dad: ride
anyone else: jumpsuit or lane boy
Chlorine cuz sure
probably Fairly Local
I already did recommend to them oldies station and now my father only listens to it alot
i added sai to my mom's playlist (and lavish lol) so far ive received no complaints
my dad on the other hand hates whatever im into so 😅
Bro same 😭
my mom's playlist is actually just curated by me and i add whatever im currently listening to (the tracks/bands i think she'd like) and i only got one complaint which was when i added arctic monkeys and that one band w the biter (i used to be rly into them obviously not anymore eugh)
she just doesnt like "heavier" stuff but shes into indie pop/rock
I probably would pick House of Gold
Stressed out or taxi cab
I’ve recently showed cut my lip and overcompensate to two different people when I introduced them to tøp
The craving or tear in my heart depending on the person
None of them
Never Take It
oldies station , formidable , ride , mayyybeeeee ode to sleep depending who i’m with
my family and friends already listen to tøp because of me though
i (re)introduced my mom with level of concern
and we used to clean the house to it during lockdown
i would say my favorite from each album lmao
guns for hands
Depends on the situation, but Neon Gravestones or kitchen sink
Pet Cheetah. /j
Probably Ode to Sleep but my family already listens to tøp
Really depends for my family is was really next semester and routines in the night that got them good. But it really depends for my friends
If it’s a friend who id think would really like em I’d say all of them
Something off trench probably
house of gold
Ride or stressed out
LEVEL UP: You are now level 2!
Cuz they'd probably js say "hey, I know this song!"
mulberry street was what made me fall in love with 'em, so i'd say that one lol
oooh yeah that exist... that might be a little bit of an issue
i mean, it sure is probably one of the rudest ones he's ever said in a song, but idk
i think it is a swear but that depends, but yeah considering we're talking about our parents then you might be right
but as i said ots or overcompensate are songs I'd most likely show to a friend I'm introducing to the band
I'd definitely go with oldies
Next semester
My mom knows a bunch of songs from them (thanks to me) but she likes the outside a lot
i show my mom's friends mulberry street
Ride
i showed my mom trees first and she listens to that one more than I do now
Ride, overcompensate maybe?
my dad rlly likes tear in my heart for some reason
Midwest Indigo
well to get my mum into them (successful, btw. we're seeing them together this year) it was holding on to you!
so id do that
i'd play sai for them first. if they don't complain during no chances then i'll move on to vessel
(my mom will definitely complain during vessel
Morph or overcompensate
Trees
as low as this song is for me, Ur prolly right
either lane boy or doubt
depends on the person. anything from jumpsuit to the pantaloon.
Honestly I’d start with Drown from No Phun Intended
Same I’m not a big fan of it
House of Gold or TIMH. They’re more “palatable” for some people while still being relatable and having a message. I’d avoid any lore based songs since obviously those won’t be understood
good choice
MORPHHH i 100% agree
it was chlorine for me
It's the song I show to every friend I want to like TØP
hot take i dont like morph
I don't have a standard song, it depends on what the person's tastes are
Like if they like hard rock I'll probably suggest Jumpsuit or Next Semester, if they like more pop- oriented styles I would suggest something from SAI, if they like electronic I would pick Car Radio, etc
Kitchen Sink, Stressed Out (for nostalgia factor), Shy Away, Next Semester
Legend
Holding on to you ig
trees rab version
oldies
stressed out bc most ppl already know it. then probably routines or midwest
Midwest Indigo or we don’t believe what’s on TV
Midwest Indigo all day every day
oh that shows I’m tired
I thought this was a question in the song battles chat
Does whore really count as a swear tho?
closest
Would you get in trouble for it at school?
Currently recreating Lavish with my voice only one take each omg this is poopy gegege
Oldies Station or Legend 🥲
it's done look up Coolestown on YT it sounds much worse than I would have liked
Aaaah maybe,, levitate or midwest indigo
Definitely Jumpsuit that song is too good and not as well known as it should be
usually the album opener or rather album intro song such as hoty, stressed out, shy away, etc get more recognition than the average, so i found weird how it is not that known among the rest despite being insanely good
actually, while we're at it, i can't believe why chlorine is the most popular off trench, it's a really good song but considering it feels quite long i always found it interesting, why it is the most popular off of that album
Shy away
The outside or shy away fs
i woulnd't recommend to my family
i would just...play something really loudly near them then run away
my dad already really likes them so idk, but his fav song is Car Radio
Hmm before the Clancy Album i would play Car Radio but meanwhile it is Navigating.
LEVEL UP: You are now level 3!
I’ll be honest I never really liked Shy Away
I feel like it’s only popular among fans because it’s the first song released from SAI
I will say Overcompensate is my all time favorite song from them and I’m confident none of their future songs will top it
I wasn’t a fan during the SAI rollout but I love it
it’s only grown on me
especially when you consider the meaning
There are some of their songs that sound really bad to me that I don’t care what they’re trying to say
I mean agreed, but Shy Away isn’t one of them to me
the reason I said ‘especially’ is because it’s very good sonically and message wise
I can’t get over how SAI has so much to do with the lore and no one really knew until that fateful day March 18 2022
Speaking of SAI why is everyone always hating on Bounce Man it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets
idk, it’s a good song, but are you legitimately saying Bounce Man > Shy Away with a straight face
Yes I am
wow
Any day of the week Bounce Man beats Shy Away
let me just say, despite the fact that I vehemently disagree with you, I appreciate the blunt honesty LOL
I kind of like the MTV unplugged version of Shy Away though
The livestream version?
or am I thinking of a different thing
I wasn’t around for the rollout
No the MTV unplugged version
They were on it a year after SAI
the livestream version of shy away is about the same as the original but the scream makes it worse
oh my gosh what on earth
the scream makes it better
His voice is too shot by then so his vocals aren’t the best
Another song I really don’t like is Pet Cheetah I know it’s about writers block but in my opinion artists write the best songs when they’re not thinking about its reception but that’s all Pet Cheetah is about
pet cheetah is good
i used to not like it! ive heard of alot of people who dont really like SAI. I never really liked it but it grew on me
what are you talking about
I’m all right with SAI but not Shy Away
The Outside is definitely my favorite from SAI
it was all about the lore and no one knew until March 18 2022
Don't wanna be that guy but
Source
What
You say
"No one knew until March 18 2022"
In̈ which
I reply
"Source"
And also you know about the Christmas saves the year thing right
I never heard that song honestly mainly because Christmas and TOP doesn’t seem like a good mix
Any song in Blurryface, Vessel, or Self Titled. 🙂
People saw that on the title image it says
Sai is propaganda
And that sucks not hearing it. I feel bad
Idk that still doesn’t give you that much closure
Welcome to twenty one pilots
Lmao
bro... are you judging the book by its cover?
Truth
yesss
My dad likes rock, metal and punk, so I would probably recommend Message Man, Jumpsuit, Pet Cheetah, Next Semester or Navigating.
Jumpsuit Fr
Honestly I think my grandparents would really appreciate Neon Gravestones or Legend
Legend seems like an obvious answer for your grandparents
Wow that’s cool
Chlorine
oldies station is the only one i've actually shown my friends irl so there's that
but for the purpose of "omg this band is so good you should get into them" it might be overcompensate or fall away
yeah overcompensate is a song that shows everything they can offer
it has piano, drums, raps, quick switches in the song, build ups, etc
except emotion
that’s the one thing it doesn’t really hit
which tøp are exceptional at
that's true
it definitely lacks in there, i can see why with the seizing thingy and returning to trench and whatnot, but just for that aspect is not as high as i would expect in my clancy ranking
Well if you want emotion you can go straight to Truce but for everything else Overcompensate is great at
My grandma got hooked on house of gold
And my other one says everything but the intro to backslide is good and that Midwest indigo is a good song
I don’t really understand why some people go crazy for Hometown the music is overproduced and the lyrics get really repetitive
my mom actually loves the jumpsuit/hds livestream edition lol she has it in her playlist
You are like
The anti hero of music for this take
I’m not saying I hate it because I don’t but there are better songs
Yea but that's kinda like a horseshoe theory type take for music
If you wanna talk about great songs Holding On to You is my sixth favorite song from them overall
Ode to sleep is probably my favorite vessel song rn
For me their music fluctuates for my favorites. And I only choose one per album instead of one overall. I love all their stuff so it's hard to even do that
Like rn npi save is probably my favorite on that album. A week ago it was blasphemy
Fake you out was probably my fave vessel song a month ago too
Probably something along the lines of Midwest Indigo, Jumpsuit, or Message Man. I feel like that’s a good jumping in point, it shows all the different styles they have
I agree for the most part but I think some people would find message man too edgy or smnthn. I love it don't get me wrong but I don't think it would be a good Introduction song
But that all depends on who it is I guess
there are edgier songs though
Yea I know that
But message man definitely isn't "not edgy"
even so message man is a really "i'm bad mentally and you don't have the slightest idea of how bad i am rn" type song
exactly
Truth
Love the rap part a lot
yesss
message man is the most underrated song off blurryface personally
either that or the judge but the judge has some more recognition than message man
but it's still underrated
i think message man is way too good and people just don't appreciate it enough
I think it's one of those songs that just isn't popular because it's not mainstream generic
Fake you out and fairly local are examples of something like that too
‼️‼️
Excluding the big three which they already know, in addition to my sister already knowing a bunch of their songs because of me: Mom - House of Gold Dad - Jumpsuit or The Hype Sister - My Blood
oh miss believer tbhhh
I've seen a lot of jumpsuit
and
totally agree
such a good introductory song
I’m surprised no one said lavish (ironically or not)
maybe because they're thinking of songs that they would like and/or songs that represents everything tøp represent both lyrically and with instruments
and lavish as the first song is... not the best choice
t’would be for the jokes though
yeah
but if you didn't know about top and your friend shows you a song to introduce you to that band and you listen to lavish you'll probably think they're a joke-ish band or maybe their songs are more of "y'know what screw it" (basically everything lavish would portray)
Again, I only chose house of gold (cause it’s a song for moms) but my mom literally only listens to radio pop so I’d just show her stressed out or ride if she didn’t know them
Lmao ik
I think lavish should’ve been released as a separate single instead of for the album
Like loc and heathens
but it also doesn’t feel like a single song too so it’s like so out of place 😭
fr man
why is it there to begin with
worst part is that it has a deep grammy's and high class criticism allegedly or something
but the song itself won't let anyone take it seriously 💀
okay ima be honest
Clancy is really really good but still falls short to trench
It was marketed as a “return to trench” but doesn’t have great structure and lacks lore related stuff
it was more like blurryface 2
and I think SAI was a slightly more cohesive listen for the purpose it was going for
The whole point of lavish is to make you feel like this
So obviously it's working
I’d just recommend trench entirely
Navigating or oldies
Level of Concern
I just showed them Ride. And I think it was a good start
my mom LOVES tear in my heart
Weirdly enough my dad hates them, but he loves ode to sleep after he asked me to put something during a trip we did
stressed out.
Formidable 🙌
weirdly enough neon gravestones because of the moonlight sonata vibes
Stressed out bc it sounds the least weird to them. That or Tear in my Heart
Introduced my mom to rab and npi
And my brother got hooked on vessel and a bit of blurryface
YOU'RE A REAL ONE
I ADMIRE YOU FROM NOW ON
I’m excited to move on from this question tomorrow
Chlorine
Ride probably. it’s a classic and you can ease them into more of their music after that
Paladin strait
My dad would probably like Navigating or Next Semester
If someone were to introduce me to tøp, I think the song that would get me into it would be paladin straight or levitate. Not for the music but the mv. Before I got into tøp, that kinda stuff with the uniform kinda stuff was what I was into
yeah, if i didn't know about top and someone introduced me to it and the song that does that job is a song with a freaking marvel-ish sequence type mv i would immediately fall in love with that band
same with levitate, though i would have the impression of a rap band, i would also fall in love with a song that good and a mv that is very interesting to watch
You know what you do? Ask them their favorite genre. Then pick a couple songs. Tøp has so many options lol
that's so fucking clever actually
Im a genius guys
Thank you though 😂
In reality i dont talk about it unless i know they like the band because i have a terrible fear of people judging my entire being off of liking one thing 😭
yeah that happen
car radio because that got my parents into tøp (and me
)
My dad and I heard TOP for the first time at the same time, it was Tear In My Heart
Well most people overlook it
But most older generations grew up with Elvis so
The can't help falling in love cover is the most obvious. Found that out yesterday on my drive home with my mome and it turned on
Just noticed that's not what was playing
But it is on npi technically if anyone is wondering
it's not on npi but it was indeed an unreleased song from the bunch of unreleased songs before self titled
Yea makes sense
It's apart of my npi deluxe tho
