seeing these 3 seemingly completely unrelated surprising songs has really got me pumped, feels like the albums gonna be all over the map genre wise and im excited to see what theyve made

I loved the video and I love the song too. It’s really dark though. Feels less hopeful than other songs. Reminded me of an addict I know. Made me worry a little about Tyler. I felt sad about the lyric that he wishes he’d never done Saturday. It’s like he’s allowed to vary his musical genre any which way but if he varies the content to reflect being a bit happier or having a good time it’s rejected. That made me sad. Also it cast a different meaning on the verse in overcompensate about “bow to the masses / get kicked to the curb/ for passing the classes.” Suddenly I see that as being about Tyler making a popular song and getting rejected for it. I don’t like that he feels like the fans kicked him to the curb. 😢

It was the first song from the new album that really spoke to me. Overcompensate and Next Semester are both good songs but I didn't quite feel engaged while listening to them for the first time. Backslide gave me this feeling. Since it was released I've listened to it many times and didn't get bored at all.nedsmirk

As for the music video - Josh did a great job, it's interesting and quite artistic. I like the close-ups on white flowers, they are probably my favourite part as something different from what we could see in their previous mvs and yet perfectly fitting the music.

It’s alright. I wish that the music had more depth, and the lyrics are alright, BUT I will say the vocals are truly amazing. I love how it builds slowly and Tyler’s voice is great.

I like both the song and the mv. Definitely quite a different mv for them in my opinion, which is definitely due to the fact that we’re not used to seeing Josh as a director. But I think it’s really interesting to be able to sort of see into his brain from a creative perspective

  1. Does Tyler actually regret making Saturday or is that only a thought that comes to him when he’s in a bad place?
  2. What are the logistics he’s referring to? The logistics of trying to logically tie the story up?

Tyler’s always had a bit of dislike towards his own past music. This is generally pretty common for musicians, you start to notice small imperfections looking back on your past stuff, but for Tyler specifically this happens enough for him to make it part of the blurryface persona. Go back and listen to fairly local or message man or stressed out, lines about his anxiety making him hate his creations aren’t new for Tyler
