i play highschool golf and im the captain. i went to the lpga shoprite classic tournament when i was like 11. the best womens golfer in the world was there, lexi thompson. on a par 3, she was coming up the path and dropped one of her golf balls. she picked it up and gave it to a little girl next to me who was prolly about 8-9. and i got hella bummed that she didnt give it too me. last year, we got a really good freshman player (now sophmore) and i told her that story. that was her. i saw one of my now good friends and teammates years before i even knew her.

Going viral was surreal. I had won a bunch of photography awards and my work made it's way into Bored Panda which was quickly picked up by news agencies around the World. Since my business had my contact details on it for local customers, I never expected to have to field international calls from The Daily Mail, Good Morning America and European news agencies. I learned that it doesn't matter what you say in an interview whether on TV or on a phone call, Media agencies will always have a 'perspective' or a narrative they want to spin, whether it's true or not. Very scary to experience that, but still proud of my accomplishments. I didn't enjoy the intrusiveness of it all and have a great deal of respect for all artists having experienced that. note - sharing one of my band photography shoots rather than the family shoots

i want to go back to this question because i like this one: my parents and i saw what looked like frozen lightning in the dark hours of morning. we looked into all kinds of phenomena, including rocket launches in the area that could've been vapor illuminated by light just below the horizon, and light pillars which usually occur under other conditions and look nothing like this jagged beam. the rocket lauch/military testing thing was viable but it was a stretch, even if there were stations or bases nearby, or other reports. it looked like a single frozen rod of lightning, that must've faded out over about a 20+ minute drive in an adjacent direction (i begged my parents to take me closer my 3yo ass didn't gaf about them being at work on time 😭). it felt like hours though as this was over 20 years ago and my childhood memory does things like that. still, i'm insistent that the fade was resembling of a slow motion lightning capture vs. a jet stream type dispersion. it's hard to say because the brass tones of fading bolts look similar to glowing cloud whisps at dawn in color.

edit to add: the bolt was white like lightning, but as it faded it turned more of an orange
