1 messages Ā· Page 1 of 1 (latest)
the I remember part
I hate it so much ||look at my last fm||
LEMME TELL YOU
whe he shakes his finger to the camera
i love it
Next semester is one of their best songs.
I LOVE IT SM
I LOVE IT SO MUCH DUDE
The chonky uke
It gave me nostalgic vibes I LOVE IT ššš
the part where it goes "START FRESH NEXT SEMESTEEEEEEEERRRR" and then slows down to the soft ukelele
it goes extremely fucking hard and my fav part is the "hey kid get out of the road" scream bit
I DID
Very very nice it reminded me of Legend and Formidable with the guitar
Itās their worst song š
I DIED
I adore it
If ur down voting look at my last FM
LMAO
I loved it, my fav part is the softer part at the end and my fav part of the mv is when Tyler wears the Clancy mask
love it so much, been looping since it came out, fav lyric āitās a taste test, of what i hate lessā
the way he skipper scampered away killed me
The end when the ukulele makes an appearance
I kinda didn't know what was going on in the video. The song is Gas though.
i love the song, itās one of my favs theyve put out. the meaning behind it and overall songwriting is just amazing
ā loud incorrect buzzer
super proud of them
Love this song so much, the video makes it even better <3
cried like a baby when i read the lyrics
DUDE SAME
My favourite part was the "I prayed those lights would take me home" or the ukulele part
Music vid is nostalgic and the song is 9/10
i love the fact that i got my first golded msg through my comment on the video
the outro
I LOVED it. Itās been on repeat. The āI prayed those lights would take me homeā and the little dance in the video where Tyler is moving his hips back and forth, itās so cute. Like itās the only song Iāve listened to since it came out!!
YOU CANNOT BE THROWING THIS KINDA SHIT AT ME WHEN THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I FEEL LIKE
Itās still like a 7/10
BROTHERS THIS WAS TARGETTED
i cried the whole time
THIS
When it gets slow at the end
Everything was my favorite
I really liked the song and I like the part where Tyler is avoiding the car/truck/idk and then he appears with the mask
ok but sayng its their worst song is just out of pocket
It has so little lyrics but they have sooo muchhh meaning behind themmm
Also the song is super catchy, I love the style
the car radio parallels took me out
How š
i can think of many more that are worse
it's so fucking bad bro. i hate it. my favorite part is none of them. (i havent seen the video or listened to the song)
š
WHY NOT
š
RAB Trees
IM BUSY I HAVE A JOB AND BILLS TO PAY
RAB trees ig but thatās not released
are you waiting to marriage or what???
at first it was meh
huh? I must've missed that
but then holy shit
Tyler would understand ā¤ļø
OH. MY. GOD. First time I heard it I was like āwoo! ok!ā and then I returned to it a few hours later to see what I thought and OHHHHHH MY GOD itās easily become one of my favorite songs and it sounds so good after OC.
ykyk we talked it out everything's good between us
RIGHT??
The beginning gives me scott pilgrim vibes
I LOVEEEE next semester and I'm trying to restrain myself from listening to it too much because I don't want it to become overplayed for me
Second half of the song is so goooooood
The lines ācant change what youāve done, start fresh next semesterā gave me chills, also loved the underground club type of theme for the music video. It was cool to see Tyler wear the Clancy mask on the street.
yesss
The softened "can't change what you've done.."
Also when he looks to the camera for a second and he looks like he's crying
the whole song is so scott pilgrim lol
My favourite part "can you die of anxiousness? i don't wanna be here, i don't wanna be here" i felt that way too hard š
do it.
YESSZSS
Favorite part is "what's about to happen" and HEY KID GET OUT OF THE ROAD every time
a car, a torch, a death
Idk why but it seems that all the people who are responding are listening to Next semester on Spotify rn xd
CANT. WORK. BILLS. THERAPY. BUSY!!!!
mesh tank top Josh
yes
Or the part where HE SLOWED DOWN AND HE ROLLED DOWN HIS WINDOW AND HE SAID
CANT CHANGE WHAT YOUVE DONE
THEN I HEARD, "HEY, KID, GET OUT OF THE ROAD"
START FRESH NEXT SEMESTER
The whole song makes me so calm though it feels like home idk
BROS WAITING TIL NEXT SEMESTER FRš
uke is best part there will be no convincing me otherwise
YESSSS the part that goes OHHHHH OHHHH OHHH CANT CHANGE WHAT YOU'VE DONE
START FRESH NEXT SEMESTAAAAAAAAAAA
WHAT I WAS WEARING
here to ruin your streak
my fav part is " i prayed those lights would take me home, then i heard "HEY KID GET OUT OF THE ROAD" , "i dont wanna be here" and "cant change what youve done"
THE YELLOW DASHES IN THE STREET
Next semester its actually one of the Best song that top ever made imo, obyously before trees.
YELLOW DASHES IN THE STREET
T_T

Tbh, I'm not a huge fan but I'm hoping it will grow on me :/
Favourite part is probably "hey kid get outta the road"
I wasn't but then I remembered how much it calms my nerves and I just had to switch
I PRAYED THOSE LIGHTS WOULD TAKE ME HOMEEEEE
oh damn
Yeah I saw that xD
yea i do be listening to next semester rn
THEN I HEARD :
Good take i agree
HEY KID GET OUT OF THE ROAD
HEY, KID, GET OUT OF THE ROAD
rahhhhh
that was 100% my favorite part
LMFAO YOU'RE GOOD
Dw it's the same
anyways
gonna go lsiten to it again
the scream of āWHATS ABOUT TO HAPPENā
YESSSSSS
the outro makes me cry
because i know its gonna go hard as FUCK on the tour
the part when his scream is kinda muffled
and he screams "and then he slowed down"
chills bros, chills
josh dun.
everything about the song tbh
thatās all
ate that
šø
this song is so blast worthy
Itās a banger
REAL!!!
blasted it through my car speakers while speeding down the highway
REALL
blasted it through my car radio frfr
The end makes me feel some shit
it nearly made me cry š
Same tho
overcompensate and next semester are such bops
i keep listening to it and going back to watch the mv i love it sm š
i can just tell the album will leave no crumbs
like tyler had no business making it seem like he's tryna reassure all of us it's ok and we can try again next semester
no business making me emotional
I like it, especially the intro, the slow ukulele part and when he screams āHEY KID GET OUT OF THE ROADā
I LOVE IT Iāve been playing it on repeat since it come out
everytime he fucking screams >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
i really like it but it honestly felt like a completely different band, even more so than scaled and icy
This ^^
it didn't feel like i was listening to a twenty one pilots song
still a banger tho
the fact my semester just ended
mine still got a few weeks
we gonna pray to which ever god will listen i get good tickets
good luck
Mine ends 4th of June š„¹
thank you
may 17th needs to come faster š£ļø
I LOVE NEXT SEMESTER
AND FAV PART OF MUSIC VID IS WHERE THE CROWD PARTED LIKE IT DID IN CAR RADIO
^^^^^^^^^^
lowkey my fav song by them, did NOT expect a whole as post-punk revival indie rock influenced tune from them but i'm all for it
not to mention the lyrics being especially relatable at a time like this in my life, both on a surface level interpolation and deeper interpolation
currently going through an awful semester at school and i can't wait to start fresh in the next one
Same almost failed my first class at the midterm š
i love the song and i love the vibes, the music video is GREAT and i love the energy. it is just so touching and i love it sm. my favourite part has to be when it all slows down and the 'oooh's i just love iy
i am failing all my classes LOL
i will bounce back trust me
I believe in you!
I love it. Itās so RAB coded and when Tyler goes into the crowd, it reminds me so much of car radio
I like the song a lot!!
And the mv is epic
The part where they're performing for the jumping crowd gives slight Smells Like Teen Spirit vibes, just in a more contained environment with less chaos
And my favorite part of the mv is where he's walking slowly just strumming the uke
It's so iconic for no reason
dont understand videoclip and my fav part is outro (ukelele)
i liked it a lot, feels really heavy to listen to because of the lyrics but not in a bad way
I didn't really watch the music video but I like the "I remember certain things. What I was wearing. Then I heard, hey kid get out of the road" section of the song
It kinda reminds me of blurryface and a bit of vessel
next semester
god i love that song so much if iām this in love w clancy now iām so excited for the full album
Favorite song from the band so far full stop not even recency bias this song touches me like no other song has
I love the genre and how blunt the lyrics are about him wanting to end it all
this was made for the college kids who made one too many jokes about getting in the road for the sake of paying tuition
My favorite parts are probably I don't wanna be here and hey kid get out of the road
absolutely love the song.
what the hell is the music video.
I love it sooooo much, it's incredible. Love the mv too. Love it more than Overcompensate
iām still over the moon from the āevery song gets a music vidā thing like i have been waiting for a pilots concept album For Years
I think it was great, the bass was amazing, and my favorite part of the mv is when Tyler was walking through the crowd, it reminded me of the Car Radio mv
the end made me cry, i have been listening to the song on repeat!!
i haven't stopped listening to it. my fav part was tyler dodging out of the way or that 3 second clip of josh on the drums doing whatever the hell he was doing
you cant tell me it doesnt give you car radio vibes
the lyrics, music video, everything about ut
the story it tells
It made me sad tbh but anyways my favorite part was the first āhey kid get out of the roadā itās so raw
oh for sure
it's full of emotion
and its strong but you can hear pain
so das kewl
Frr
i like it more than overcompensate
it was also announced on my birthday so thats also pretty cool
same i really like overcompensate but next semester hits different
best track since Tear In My Heart
for sure
i like the overall vibe of ns more than overcompensate
it feels more friendly, its kinda hard to explain
it has a more positive tone and key signature
yeah.. more emotional. it feels like it has more meaning to tyler as well
At first I was disappointed and I still think it's far from their best songs (both lyrics and music), but now I understand the message a little bit more and can appreciate it; favourite part is the first time the chorus starts
I LOVE IT! It's more of his signature vibe. I think it was very sad, though. I kinda teared up.
i feel next semester has more meaning in general, i mean its about when he was a kid
I agree
I personally love it. Makes me feel nostalgic, yet so happy. Gives me hope going through rough things !
yeahh!
I remember, I remembe certain thingss
What I was wearing
i have a feeling itāll probably be my fave on the album. been nonstop listening to it and immediately felt like crying from the first listen. the lyrics just hit so hard, IT HURTS
That last "hey kid get out of the road!" is just amazing
I've been listening to Next Semester on repeat since it came out
it is!!
thats so real
Next semester at top
Listened to it for like 2 days in a row
So it's alright I guess
Idk if I prefer it over Overcompensate yet but it's definitely a banger
I hope the rest of the album has guitar as well
NEXT SEMESTER SPEAKS TO ME ON A RELATABLE LEVEL
next semester is so amazing. I love the lyrics and the sound of it. My favorite part is the ending with the ukulele, I shed a few tears during that part
and it just hits you out of nowhere
I love it so much that I listened more than a hundred times to it since it came out. I relate to it a lot and the part with the street/road aka the flashback of the attempt been stuck to meā¦. and also generally thematised anxiety in the song. I really love it
so good
so good
i LOVE LOVE it but listening to the lyrics is so gut wrenchingly painful
i hooked up fm.now to my discord literally yesterday
I LOVED IT, the video was rlly good too! Not one of their best I feel, but p good!
i agree i feel like it almost felt like its own video, there were some connections to the lore (clancy hat), but i feel like its a puzzle piece to a puzzle i just started and i canāt figure out where the piece belongs yet (if that makes sense
)
I heard it a lil wrong the first time lol, I thought he was saying he thought he saw banditĆø lights and thought they were gonna take him home, away from DEMA, but it was a red herring of sorts, and reality, or a car almost hit him
Lol udk if that makes sense
:( the fact that i immediately knew what he was talking about made it so sad
it's such a good song omg
yes i understand, i think it can be interpreted both ways (the banditĆø lights are so much more wholesome) but i also think it could be like
the headlights on the car = going āhomeā (su!cide)
banditĆø torches = going āhomeā (getting out of dema, not having these scary sad feelings anymore)
me too, my jaw dropped when it clicked
I love that!! Totally agree!!
although the lyrics do point to the latter, with the āyellow dashes in the streetā i still like to think the āi prayed those light would take me homeā could be a hopeful line
Yeah, same! After all nearly all tĆøp songs have a double meaning, right? I prefer the 2nd one, but respect the first!
I fucking love it! The end gets me emotional cause it reminds me of my horrible New Year (New Year old habits) but it still gives me hope to keep on going
Could also be neon gravestone lights but that would pretty much be that same as the headlights..
That one cool part is my favourite
The part where he goes
āI remember certain thingsā
That whole part hits different
this silly goober
the bridge gives me chills everytime
the tone change of the 3rd bridge ig it was
I remember. I remember certAin thINGS. whAt i was WEAring (i hope someone gets what i mean) lol
bad
One of the best songs! I liked the part āI pray those lights would take me homeā
same
i get it and its one of my favorite parts for sure
thank you
?
i love it a lot, I kinda relate to it in a ptsd kinda way. i don't know why, but I do. it hits close
oh yeah I know what you mean this part is amazing
pretty sure he's gonna really scream this part at the concerts and I can't wait
kinda like the live version of shy away
ish
i donāt like it
How comes?
Kinda everything. But the end wear Tyler bows and it shows the road
Just this song and mv are so fucking good
I really love the ending where Tyler walks out with the baritone Uke and stares straight into your soul.
Lol that was a lil creepy too, but nice
it sounds generic
In what way generic? Like too mainstream?
sounds like disney channel series opening theme
sounds exactly what every other āindieā band is doing rn
@dark hatch I see wut u r saying, but I feel like it seems like what their music always sounds like, it has its uniqueness, and some does sound mebbe generic...
brings me back to early/mid 2000s alt ish pop/rock
ok but i donāt like it
im not saying anyone cant like it either, im just saying that i personally didnāt like the song
I really love the drum beat; it's so powerful
I love next semester! It reminds me of the bullying I endured in high school and how I wanted to leave everyday even to the point of not staying alive. Twenty Ćne PilĆøts changed that for me and this song felt like a culmination of everything I was feeling at that time just as Tyler is singing the same way. I also love the ska kinda punk vibe from this song, Tyler sounded SICK
okay and nobody is saying you cant like it? this is a convo and we only asked why you dont like it and then bee put out their own opinion?
I was just interested on why you think what you think because I personally dont think so but its cool if you do
I like that version of trees
š
Definitely in my top 5 of all time. My daughter is still learning the lyrics so rn she says āTHE YELLOW JACKET IN THE STREETā
Yah, I get that, I was just saying, totally respect that! Mb if it came off rude
It doesnāt sound like that at all? I grew up heavily on Disney channel, this is way darker than that and Disney would never use this musicality.
What can I say? I like all of their music and I love hearing Tylerās experiments throughout their career
Uuuuuuh wasn't too sure about it at first but I listened to it at work with all the ambient work sounds going on and couldn't really hear it. Then I went home and watched the video and appreciated it much more. I loved the cinematography transitions between the concert scenes and flashbacks.
it immediately became one of my favorite songs by them. I love the style and the tempo, and especially Tyler's singing. for me, it just hit deep I guess
Same here
I think these 2 songs from Clancy are flawless and probably their best
The mentioned user's' Last.FM username isn't connected!
they're definitely up there, but I personally like some songs from Vessel and their first more
bruh idc
let me have my opinions
didnt come off as rude at all
iām just saying
i donāt need to keep explaining myself on why i donāt like it
i just donāt like the song š¤·āāļø
sorry if im coming off as rude im just tired of this discussion
Oh kk, good:)
It isn't, lol I get it
those are really good ones, and I love the message of Guns For Hands
I love it!! Itās pretty different from their usual stuff, leans more towards rock I think. It does make me nostalgic for their pre blurryface era music tho š
My favorite part is āHey kid, get out of the road! š§ā
WARNING real talk.
I thought 'Next Semester' was super special
In an interview with Zane Lowe, Tyler once talked about how his music was a way to talk about 'it' & is the window into 'it' without going into that house. He didn't feel comfortable giving his audience the keys to that house. A look inside his personal struggles, & in a way this is probably the closest anybody is ever going to get to that part of him.
I just want to say to Tyler if he's listening, Thank you. I am so grateful for you. I'm so grateful to exist in a time that you exist - in a time that twenty one pilots exists, & through your life experiences & your music, you give me (us) the tools to find a way through the darkness, connect with others & call a truce on the sides of ourselves that pull at our ankles like the dogs they are.
'Next Semester' feels like the origin story of Blurryface. It's not Lore but explains how the lore was born. At the beginning of the MV we briefly see the car barely missing Tyler & transition into the underground club where we briefly hear a song ending. I feel like those two things are VERY connected. We hear completely different song that also represents that same experience of choosing to not exist for that split second at the beginning.
Graduation was a taste test of what he hates less. The love/hate relationship of performing to a large crowd. There's always two sides to that. The endorphins & adrenalin. The love of performing to your fans, the joy of creating & reinventing your music to your fans... playing with your buds on stage, & knowing you have an amazing crew to back you up. But he can go back to graduation & feel the other side of that which still plagues him. Anxiety, fear of feeling inadequate, fear of things going wrong, fear of being judged. Pressure in your chest, he didn't want to be there. I feel the upbeat nature of the song allows us to also look into a window inside Tyler's mind without having the key. Much love to you Tyler.
sucks
I would've typed more but I ran out of characters
I freaking loved it. It means a lot to me. Iāve struggled a lot with mental health for abt 12 years now. I donāt know why but it makes me so happy to see that Tyler is talking abt such a heavy topic that so many people struggle with.
I Also really liked how it was a little different from the stuff that they usually make
Honestly I didn't like it at first but I grew into it. My favorite part is when Tyler says "then he said hey kid get out of the road!" Then we're hit with major rock
i like when he goes what i was weARING
it tickles my brain
Overall 9.3
when he says āwhat i was wearing ā and yanks at his shirt like he still struggles with the memory of even just the outfit
I loved how they showed the same road scene repeating over and over, with the clancy mask too hinting recency, showing how although he might seem like he's talking about an isolated incident, this is something that if you dealt with and felt once, you've probably had it reoccur. and that's okay, doesn't mean that there's no hope for you, don't beat yourself up, you can't change the past, just start fresh next semester.
oh also Josh looked extra good there
I love the connection between the lights on stage taking him back to the headlights, it's so specific and nuanced and it feels like a real personal experience of his. I think it's those little details that make the video feel really raw and honest and helped make it clear what the song is really talking about
And I also love that he yells the part that the driver yells. I just think all in all its a really phenomenal song, but there are so many things that really elevate it
I like the "hey kid get out of the road". it's very unclear to whether it's coming from someone who cares or a random person in the street. and I really love that.
sometimes you find help in places you're not seeking help in. sometimes you end up helping someone inadvertently. common example being checking in on someone, in this case a random driver helping him snap out of it.
LOVE JT
The second "I remember " part when the car is driving faster and multiple Tylers/Clancy are jumping out of the way. I like how the beat speeds up.
The refrain/transition to the last uke part is my favourite part of next semester
That part goes hard
I thought it was extraordinary, and when the I remember part came in, it hit home for me

my fav part is the end and i like it better than overcompensate
The bass is hard asf, hope they lean in more to the punk/post hardcore feeling of whatever they do
1st Listen I was a little disappointed (I had just woken up and was mainly focused on how weird Tyler looked with his shirt off)
2nd Listen a little later i started vibin more enjoying the drums and the "I remember" part
3rd Listen i ended up sobbing thinking about the lyrics and how the message was EXACTLY what I needed.
best part by far is the finale before the acoustic version begins
I already said why I liked the song but tbh I like next semester more than over compansate, donāt get me wrong love overcompensate but next semester is more similar to the other music I like
I love it A LOT!! I must admit that Overcompensate remains my favourite from the two songs that we've gotten so far, but only because I really loved the trench/blurryface vibes that it was giving off + the "sahlo folina" at the start of it. It got me feeling extremely nostalgic in the best way!
My punk pop roots were very happy with this one! Fave video part: Thereās this intense camera side glance Tyler does while on stage near the end of the third chorus and I can just feel his emotion through that camera connection. I donāt know why it always just brings me in!
I absolutely LOVED it, even more than Overcompensate tho both are amazing. The lyrics hit you like a ton of bricks and it's going to be insane to experience live
it isnt my favorite top song, prolly a 7.5/10, but it did grow on me and the outro reminds me of screen and its making me happy :)) i like the second of the song more, feels more natural and layered.
ācanāt change what youāve done, start fresh next semesterā like gives me goosebumps every time without failure. i love this song so much and i am so excited for the rest of this album.
Four words. Sparkly Tank Top Josh.
yes
Loved it, kinda guess it's gonna be my new favorite. Also can ralete to that song so much it almost feels sad. "Hey kid, get out of the road" kind of feels like the best part also the fact that you "can't change what you've done".
I LOVE IT!!! I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!!!
ITS AMAZING AND WAYYYY TOO RELATABLE(ššš)
It's a good song, and the MV is interesting lore-wise
I liked the mv, I liked the energy in it. As for the song, itās kinda towards the bottom of songs I like. Personally I felt like it was really repetitive (which made it easier to learn the lyrics). I love Tylerās lyrics that are super intricate (if that makes a sense). So TLDR basically, itās really catchy but not a super lyrical genius song.
I loved it of course, but it was interesting to see that my bf loved it too. Typically heās not a fan
Whatās twenty one pilots?
what's a blurryface?
I know right!
When he brings out the ukulele
And the crowd parts like in car radio, balling ny eyes out breh.
ššš
i liked the music video, had a nostalgic feel but i def prefer overcompansate over it
I've had the song on repeat since it came out. The boys did good releasing it as a single. I like how it's different from everything they've done so far but is still very top
hate the first half, love the second. Didnt get the chance to watch the music video yet lmao
Your Last.FM username isn't connected!
the mv is great you should totally watch it!
best part is any part showing Josh
The car driving away in the background at the end š (I will not shut up about this part)
I love everything about Next Semester the alt rock feel, the switching between the sections of the song, the super emotional vocals and lyrics that hit me every time, the ukulele!!
i came here to add
the red thing at the bottom of the pants i like that as well
both for the era and also i think its giving his famous red socks
when he sings the chorus before the ukulele comes out, when heās singing idk harder?š
I like that one shot of the Clancy mask
best part is tyler shirtless
I loved this songs so much! My favorite part of the music video is when it first cuts to Tyler in the street. My favorite part of the song is the part where it goes āand he rolled down his window and said canāt change what youāve done, start fresh next semester.ā That part literally gives me chills ngl
Thoroughly enjoy this song! as a british clikkie the britpop vibes in the verses are immaculate! favourite part of the video has to be the transitions of Tyler on stage to in street when he's covering his face cause of the bright lights / all the moments in Tyler's acting where he just looks out of it on the stage cause same
Where is the Brit popāļø
Verses/intro just sound very kaiser chiefs/blur(think song 2) More like the noughties stuff where British Invasion was mostly rockier sounding stuff! Just thoughts from my initial listens of the songs vibes
Hitting myself with a firework
Eh
Itās def not Britpop tho
If anything itās kinda leaning into the fugazi feel
