If anybody knows where these pictures at the end of the video are from, please let me know. I can't seem to find anything other than people saying it's by Étienne-Louis Boullée. Other than maybe a similar style there doesn't seem to be any connection.

They look like architectural drawings, maybe a floorplan of a dome and an exterior (maybe a cross section but probably not) of possibly the same structure.

I agree i’d like to know

wary dagger
#

Perhaps they were inspired by the design of Newton's cenotaph, in any case Newton's cenotaph is a funerary monument, so

It reminds me of the Senate building from Star Wars, lol.

modern ether

I remember at the time of release people were saying that the left image is a map of dema and I was like "oh ok cool" because I wasn't invested in the lore but actually looking at it.. nah.

modern ether
#

if I've somehow missed all of the posts pointing out where these are from i'm gonna feel real dumb but I genuinely need to get to the bottom of this

Maybe this make sense with the song(?)

#

It's like an inside joke but maybe it makes sense
Something seems unnecessary or out of place can cause a lot of damage

modern ether
#

I'm trying to keep in mind that it night not even be a building. But I wouldn't even know where to start if I go down that path.

The greek orthodox church might make some sense. It's also called "eastern orthodox" and it is similar but different to catholicism. Like they also use stoles like the catholic church, but they do not have "Bishops." One of the huge disputes between Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy is about the authority and jurisdiction of the pope, with Orthodox people thinking the pope and religious authority in Catholicism have been given way too much power to put it simply. I've always thought that having the leaders of the city be Bishops and having the Banditos' sayings related to East might be referencing this conflict/duality especially since we now know that Vialism is a "hijacked" religion which could map onto the idea that the authorities of the Catholic church (aka Bishops) seizing too much power in the religion.

Here's another weird background poster. Can't be seen anywhere in past photos of Big Fun (toy shop where Choker was filmed) or online anywhere that I can find. It might be related in some way to those posters from The Hype although it would be difficult to tell without knowing the meaning of either image. Just thought I'd offer this in case others can make any connections/insights

modern ether
#

It's hard to tell whether the area underneath the black dome is made of solid walls or just open air with vertical poles. The other weird thing about the photo is the sky cuts off on the right side but everything else carries on..

That's also the image that Tyler tapes up at the end, no?

Maybe an old old concept for a submersible vessel, like from before we had submarines?

modern ether
#

oooo maybe

modern ether
#

I've also been looking at planetariums. it could also be a hot air balloon..

#

"Andrée's Arctic balloon expedition of 1897 was a failed Swedish effort to reach the North Pole, resulting in the deaths of all three expedition members, S. A. Andrée, Knut Frænkel, and** Nils **Strindberg."
I am NOT going down this rabbit hole at 2 in the morning

worthy forge
#

I'll go down that rabbit hole lemme grab my laptop lol

#

oh boy this is certainly a rabbit hole

#

not sure how important this is, but they were only in flight for 2 days before crashing on this island which is in Norway and is the easternmost part of norway if my research is correct

#

even though they crashed in 1897 they weren't discovered until 1930 when we recovered some frozen film that's very interesting, but these are the pictures that may be of importance

#

heres a picture from their funeral in 1930

#

and some artifacts found

A balloon definitely would explain the two horizontal rings and the vertical lines being rope.. just saw an old reddit comment saying it looks like a paul villa ufo also. man I can see why this hasn't been solved in the last five years lol

it almost looks like a layout

it kinda looks like two designs on top of each other but idk.
the shapes in the middle are so hard to distinguish.

I know it’s a stretch but what do y’all think about it resembling these. It’s located in Hawai’i atop Mauna Kea

modern ether

there's also a lot of futuristic ufo looking structures in soviet mordernism that may fit the description.

modern ether

@ tyler what's your damage, man...

modern ether

Those central shapes on the other picture kind of resemble these central shapes i've seen on a lot of church plans. I don't know anything about architecture though so I don't know what they're called or if it would even make sense for them to be laid out like that

modern ether
#

^ those two shapes look like the same image of a sitting lion / big cat mirrored

I did go through your Pinterest board and thought this one looked the most similar

Even though it’s just the inside part that matches

different angle shows there's a whole other situation going on over on the left side. it looks to me like a bunch of different size structures but i'm gonna stop investigating here for a bit lmao i know too much about architecture now

This is what I could make out was in the middle shape wise

modern ether
#

if i think hard enough about these CGI buildings in Saturday i could probably dissociate into another dimension and find the answers

modern ether
#

other framed images in the music video

modern ether
#

very top photo looks like a futuro house, bottom left looks like a cross section of a mountain with maybe a city inside, right pic idk lol

#

most of the images seem to be architectural, the bottom left pic looks like it has a dome or a ufo shaped thing chillin out on the surface on the top right, like a very similar shape to the futuro house.

#

I'm like 98% sure it's nothing but I was just thinking about 2 things bc you said the logo looked like lions. 1- there's another building owned by the Mormon church not far from the tabernacle called the lion house. And 2- there are 2 big lion statues in front of the east (senate) building at the Utah State Capitol in SLC which is like 2 minutes from the tabernacle

#

Ok after using the words east and senate it made it seem slightly more likely but still

#

And the map of the Capitol has this in the middle that looks vaguely like the symbol? Idk it's probably nothing but just random thoughts

#

Ok I'm spiraling but that circle looks awfully familiar...

# worthy forge YOO

Are you a fan of my spiral? XD I found a bunch of connections. I've been to SLC many times so I know all the things

I stepped away for a bit because i felt like i was just lost in the sauce and going down the same paths over and over so i'm just gonna dump everything i feel may be relevant to the search:
the first artists that comes up when I show the pic to people are Claude Nicolas Ledoux and Etienne Louis Boullee - mostly because the image looks utopian and slightly similar to the Cenotaph for Newton. I can't seem to find anything in their works that look like this exact structure.
The framed picture has tape over the bottom which is probably covering text.

At the beginning, I noticed the dome is kind of flat in a way that's really specific and I could kind of see a similarity with the Hagia Sophia, and was thinking maybe it's a cross-section but the similarities kinda stop there.
searching for UFO shaped buildings lead me to the Buzludzha monument and also the Kiev institute for information.
I've looked into Byzantine architecture, utopian architecture, ampitheatres, observatories, the bourbaki panorama, inflatable dome structures, ROTATING RESAURANTS LOL?? anyway.. i got nothing

A user on the architecture subreddit said:
"Checked on Ledoux, Soane, Nash, Labrouste, Pugin, and a lot more. Nothing matches.
If it's a concrete dome, then I am fairly certain this is not, nor ever was, a real structure. It would be huge and recognizable. I'm guessing it's a fabric covered dome-shaped awning. Notice the frill around the edges and how it looks to be open-air? Perhaps it is some market or pavilion from antiquity."
So it might not even be a domed structure, it might be the front end of a different shape building.

I don’t think this is the same thing, but it is interesting regardless:

#

It’s called the Bourbaki panorama and exists still today, with shops in the bottom section. It is in Lucerne, Switzerland.

definitely interesting

the one in MV looks to in a much more empty area though

# void flume

looking at the building, it seems to be an oblate sphere floating in air while being supported by a ring with pillars so we would need to find something that looks exactly like that. It has to be a painting or a drawing though, and I highly doubt the structure itself ever existed as it'll be impossible because of physics and stuff

if it was something not real its very likely thats the first visual of it and all the others are just descriptions so we would have to figure how to search for where it came from

According to the Hebrew Bible, the tabernacle (Hebrew: מִשְׁכַּן, romanized: miškan, lit. 'residence, dwelling place'), also known as the Tent of the Congregation (Hebrew: אֹהֶל מוֹעֵד, romanized: ʔōhel mōʕēḏ, also Tent of Meeting), was the portable earthly dwelling used by the Israelites from the Exodus until the conquest of Canaan. or am I missing something

void flume
#

no the salt lake tabernacle

grim flame
#

it definitely has the shape

#

although the picture looks like a much taller and grander building

#

okay I know this is shallow but on the Wikipedia page for that building it says

#

The Salt Lake Tabernacle was inspired by an attempt to build a Canvas Tabernacle in Nauvoo, Illinois, in the 1840s. That tabernacle was to be situated just to the west of the Nauvoo Temple and was to be oval-shaped, much the same as the Salt Lake Tabernacle. However, the Nauvoo edifice (never built) was to have amphitheater-style or terraced seating, and was to have canvas roofing.

we should look into that more

nothing new but an old pic from jenna's instagram shows slightly more detail. Kinda looks like birds flying away and the white border on the right seems more like a giant pillar

modern ether
#
  • The sky looks either painted or drawn in broad thin strokes instead of a solid / smooth gradient.
  • Andrew Donoho mentioned the "paintings" in an old interview so definitely not a photo.
  • That's obviously a lil tree. Don't know how far away it is form the main structure so not much to add in terms of scale.
  • Tall thin vertical line could be a tree. maybe a flag pole.
  • The black slope / rectangle is still really interesting to me and was the main reason why I spent a lot of time looking into architectural cross-sections. It might just be a stylistic choice. idk.

I stepped away for a while because I felt like I was hitting a wall and looking in the wrong places. Knowing it's not a photograph definitely rules some stuff out but even with fresh eyes it's still a huge mystery

some random person is gonna log on and say "oh that's definitely the Reconstruction of Ancient Spaceship Society Church it's literally in every house in south Berlin I can't believe you guys didn't catch this"

This twitter user identified one of the other framed pictures a while back but I'm putting it here just in case it connects to the others somehow https://twitter.com/AnaAllanPoe/status/1448275676793122821/photo/2

Still wondering why they featured that photo of The Sony Center (Berlin) in The Hype music video. Well I thought about it last night while i was lying in bed staring at the ceiling so i guess i was too busy to tweet about it

#

Sony Center Berlin... The Hype location sessions (Berlin)...

modern ether
#

The Sony Centre photo is really bugging me lol. It's so specific and might not even be on purpose but idk. The only thing I can think of about Berlin in relation to the lore is the concept of destruction and rebuilding. This specific area of land has definitely seen that wrt ww2 and the berlin wall.

probably unintentional connections:

  • "Architects Murphy/Jahn sought to create a complex where the outside was the "real" city, while inside was a "virtual" city, reinforcing this dichotomy through a series of passages and gates. The design's use of light, both natural and artificial, creates an environment that is "luminous, not illuminated."" it's giving dema.
  • The building's architect Helmut Jahn was part of a first-generation postmodern group of architects named the Chicago Seven - rebelling against 'the oppressive institutionalized predominance of the doctrine of modernism' group of people rebelling against an institution hmmmm

it's weird and the building / main subject to SO vague it's hard to even figure out the location and time period. I've definitely thought the same that maybe it's a commissioned piece but it's also just such a specific style and there's obviously no artist mentioned on the production team, just a set dresser. So it was thrifted or maybe a print.

The only progress I've made is finding works that are a similar style/medium.

A lot of these works seem to be french but there is SO much art out there in this engraving / lithograph style i don't know lol

Hello I'm back... Life has been more important than tracking down a painting but ALSO ALSO.. the way the sky cuts off at the edges but the main subject carries on past those edges has me wondering if this is a possible collage of two images. An old painting with a newer futuristic structure on top.
Maybe those shirt collages are thematically connected... Maybe it's nothing. Idk. Just something to think about.
