Y'know if I'm being honest, I think there was a time when I would've fallen away from keeping up with the band if it weren't for the story. I love the world they've created and what it stands for. As someone who wasn't huge on SAI, it was the story that kept me peaking at them to see what was going on. I was deep into them back during Trench and that will always be my favorite era and they haven't topped that album sonically yet. The whole concept of telling this story across so many albums and so many years has been the primary driving force behind me still being as big of a fan as I am. I don't really want to admit it fully, but the story coming to an end is both exciting and very scary for me. I think there are others who feel similarly to me whether they admit it or not tbh. Whatever the band does after Breach will lowkey have to prove to me that I can still be really into this band in my late 20's as I was back in the day. Cuz by the time the next album rolls around, my life is probably gonna look a lot different. This story has kept me tied to my younger self in a lot of ways, and I don't know if saying goodbye to the story is gonna be saying goodbye to the band, and by association, that younger part of me. But maybe they come through with a killer album in a few years and I still find myslef right back here. Who knows. I'm just enjoying the ride while it lasts. After I see them in October and eventually the new music leaves my playlists after a long while, I hope they give me a reason to come back next time. If not, it's been a crazy ride and I'll always have my vulture tattoo to remember these times.
