10: Its Almost Dry by Pusha T
I never really listened to Pusha T and this is the first time i listened to any music of his and i gotta say i wasnt disappointed, its pretty good and has everything you could wish for in a hip hop album, my favorite track is the first one, Brambleton

9: TM by BROCKHAMPTON
Brockhampton became my favorite band this year and the only reason this album isnt in a higher position is because of emotional reasons, im fairly new to the brockhampton fanbase but it being their last album ever surely made me expect for more, specially after it was discovered that it would be released as a surprise album, it quite disappointed me, but still is a really good album, my favorite song gotta be either crucify me or new shoes, those are straight 10s for me.

8: No sleep in LA by blackwave
I discovered blackwave last year and fell in love with their production, this belgium duo makes an incredible duo and incredible music, i just love the jazz rap feel this entire album has but still being very different from their last one that had the same feel. My favorite track is die in LA

7: better luck next time by midwxst
For some reason i kept this album out of my first top 10 and it was a mistake, its so good, the lyrics, the production, everything is on point, and despite technically being a hyperpop album, it differs from most others, having more melodies and acoustics. My favorite track is i know you hate me

6: MIDNIGHT by Whetan
This album is by whetan but hes actually the producer and has multiple features in it, but what made me really like this album is the production, whethan is a very promising producer being so good at such a young age. my favorite track is the opener LOCK IT UP, featuring midwxst, yeat and matt ox

5: Gemini Rights
I actually came across this album after Bad Habit went viral on tiktok but i didnt know it was from this album until i listened. Despite all the controversy, its the best track in the album and a truly catchy one.

4: CHAOS NOW* by Jean Dawson
I listened to his other album Pixel Bath and loved it, and became excited to know that another one was set to be released this year, it didnt disappoint me at all but maybe i was expecting a bit more at first, but it really grew on me and i think its even better than his last one. My favorite song is PORN ACTING*

3: The Family by Brockhampton (in reality its just Kevin Abstract and Bearface)
I was really hyped up for this album but quite apprehensive at the same time, because of how it was being hyped up, i thought the entire band was going to be on this one, but its just KA and bearface, still, this album is so good my only complaint is that i wish the songs were longer, they end too soon. What made me like this album is the fragility in Kevin's vocals when talking about the band, its a good album with a sad story behind and a really good way to end an era, having the last album be about what the person who made it all possible see about what is happening to the band. My favorite track is 37th

2: Ramona Park Broke My Heart by Vince Staples
This album is almost my aoty, its really good, theres literally no songs that are skips for me or anything like that, the real issue is that it isnt better than his last album. This is a much better album in terms of production, but the delivery of the lyrics by vince doesnt match, its not on point, if that changed, it would be certainly my aoty, but that little detail makes it weaker than his self titled album that was released last year. My favorite track is WHEN SPARKS FLY

#

My aoty: Melt My Eyez See Your Future by Denzel Curry
This album introduced me to Denzel and i think there couldn't be a better way to be introduced to his discography. If you listen to Denzel's last albums, its pretty easy to notice how his style changed from heavy bars, heavy production to a more jazzy feeling that still follows a base of his other works while still being really different. Throughout my entire year i kept coming back to this album because of how good it is. It has everything, more heavy songs, more jazzy songs, more melodic songs and good features. There isnt a thing id change in this album and thats why its my aoty. My favorite song is Mental, featuring Saul Williams and Bridget Perez.

#

normally i don't think im too aware of albums that released and if they released in the current year or not either, for some reason this year i have a good idea of a lot of albums

#

it might just be due to me caring about music more as time has gone on the past few years, and anticipating album releases unlike the past

in the last year or two i started listening to albums from my favorite artists in full, before that I think I just listened to stuff I heard on the radio or somehow happened upon at some point

For me it's got to be Dance Fever by Florence + The Machine.

The whole thing is this absolute gothic fairytale of a concept album, with more radio friendly tracks like Free and My Love but also some that just feel like you're being cursed by a fey queen deep in the woods like Heaven is Here and Restraint.

The story being told by the album is also incredible. It's all about how she wished she'd never tour again, but then the pandemic hit and she wasn't even allowed to leave the house without due cause. I especially love Cassandra because it captures the full spectrum of what Florence's music can be. It goes from a very gentle acoustic (ish) section at the beginning to this faster, almost threatening sounding verse to a chorus calling out to the powers that be.
