He’s absolutely goated.
He's a charismatic writer-director. Knives Out 1 is one of my all time favs. Great dialogues as well.
He’s awesome! He came to speak at my film school years ago, back when I was still in university
It was just after TLJ came out, he gave a lot of good advice on the jump from indie to blockbuster filmmaking and sticking to your guns, truly an inspiration and I love his style of filmmaking
He definitely has personality and skill but I think he tends to compromise in some areas of his screenwriting
Marker. @subtle swan is on Take 2!
My favorite bit
Haha, one of the best. I have a lot of fav bits. My all time fav would be "Beafterfore the carved elephant". I laugh everytime I remember that line.
Love the Knives Out movies and hopes he continues to make many more! I think his subversive and quippy style of filmmaking works a lot better for that style of Whodunnit than it did for Star Wars. I know a lot of people who are into film love TLJ… I however have never been able to understand that praise
I like TLJ more for what it was—an actual attempt at an original Star Wars story that has nothing to do with the EU/legends and doesn’t just blatantly use nostalgia as the core draw of the film, it brought new ideas to the table…
Not that I don’t like the EU, was pissed when it was announced that those stories were going the way of the dogs
I get liking the idea and attempt of bringing something new to Star Wars (I honestly do too after so much of the nostalgia slop that is modern Star Wars), but I just think the execution is so clumsy and ridiculous that it doesn’t matter what the attempt was
I mean the whole series has been pretty “clumsy and ridiculous” from the start, that’s just Star Wars
I see where you’re coming from, I just disagree with you
Now Rise of Skywalker is where we should be focusing our negative energy haha, but that’s for another time
