That’s wild, I have no hate against 1971 Grandpa Joe. Low key one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, and exactly how I imagined him when reading the book

I don’t like ANY version of Willy Wonka, but yeah. 1971 Grandpa Joe sucks. It is my headcanon that he hoped Charlie would die in one of Wonka’s Saw traps, so that HE ALONE could inherit the factory by default and have a giant factory to do coke in. (NEVER forget his two huge coke nails.)

I JUST REALIZED. What if Grandpa Joe wanted Charlie to drink the Fizzy Lifting Drinks so that he would get torn up in the fan? Like, he noticed that Charlie isn’t as clinically dumb as the other kids and wouldn’t get killed off as easily as them and just said, “Fine. I’ll Do It Myself.”

I realize that this is just shitposting, but considering his whole motivation to get out of bed was because Charlie wanted him to, that wouldn’t make any sense
In fact any maliciousness towards Charlie via Grandpa Joe would make zero sense and be entirely out of character
