No
I mean the head of security
Babes you gotta watch shows with your eyes open
But also, I would say
Heās like the one security guard weāve met
Head of security
I think squabbling over plot minutiae that may well be addressed after the cliffhanger
Whereās the security then š
Is really uninteresting
Iād much rather talk about what the show is actually trying to say or do
Way too late to address that lol
With Innie Markās ārebellionā
Turning his outtie into a hostage
I guess I just donāt care lol
Itās not important
Yeah I think itās a stronger ending to S1
Character and story are more interesting than security admin lol
i just like for things to make sense is all. when senseless things happens it tends to pull me out of whatever im watching a bit. like if Mark suddenly starts flying next episode, if its unexplained, ill have a problem with it
I think the conversation between the two Marks at the top of the episode is one of my favourite sequences in the show so far
Adam Scott really did a great job emphasising the differences between them - the Outtie is the Innieās whole universe, while the reverse couldnāt be less true
Iāve enjoyed the showās pivot from ācorporate workplaces are badā into a broader point about how we turn a blind eye to exploited workers
Outtie Markās lack of empathy has resulted in him becoming a hostage
In what I assume will be a strike storyline
Yeah I agree excellent performance
Iām really interested in what they could do for the next season
wheres the imdb rating of this episode?
i hope season 3 isn't gonna take 3 years again
in my humble and dumb opinion i think eagan still sees ellie as kier and he's gonna invite both mark and ellie in his house
that's how season 3 will begin and ellie will replace gemma?
idk about that
Yeah, I could see that
Of course it has https://youtu.be/Ydp7cNF5p74?si=b7QkDHgu2V8l9Go2
Cue the choreography and merriment. Severance has been renewed for Season 3. All episodes of Season 2 are now streaming http://apple.co/_Severance
In Severance, Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal l...
Mark Scout>Mark .S
That's a good thing, it's peak
The show wants to be Lynchian so badš
Not really
The show has nothing in common with Lynchās work
Itās closer to Douglas Adams
Terry Gilliam at a big push
yeah idk how you could even make a serious comparison in approach between the two
Wow
Finishing severance finale rn
Great ending to the season
you should totally not be in spoiler chat until you do
At that point near the end there was so much conflict || it felt like Helly should have said Mark I love you, you just go with your beloved wife, so there seems like an egoistical inaction saying nothing and leading him on to stay on her part, altho it was also Mark's decision, but the reality is that she may actually be altruistic for wanting Mark to stay to help fight for all the other innies not leaving them behind, btw when that guy said "they will all die" before the elevator closes might be referred to the innies even tho at first I thought it was about the Eagan lineage but we'll see||
The finale was kind of ... Heh
I'm perfectly ok
Devon and Harmony supposedly made a plan while we were left out
Yes.
i suppose. we went over this earlier today, but i feel its a bit silly that a company as wealthy as Lumon doesnt have a guard at every single exit of that building where they kidnap and experiment on humans
Idk but judging from Jame Eagan who has got a personality thinner than a sheet of toilet paper, well š¤·
I gave up reading all of chat š
But yeah lol
My OCD is strong but not that strong
lack of security just seems like a bit of a contrivance, but they may explain it next season. like the episode overall, thats really my only problem with it
and its minor
Mark killing the walrus man cause he switched over in the elevator and didnt know hed be holding a gun was pretty awesome
I was like-
Better this way than for that guy to take over Mark again
I could see the deep sadness and realization of death in Mark's eyes
When strangled
sure, its just nice to see innie mark make mistakes due to his age. he didnt seem to even think that when he changed over in the elevator the gun might go off
Yeah but he was compelled to keep it on him, but yeah
Mark and Helly talking about Delaware and other places
Mark and Gemma ||breaking up||
The fights and the fights again
This surely was an episode about being conflicted
indeed. feel like next season will be nothing but conflict considering how they left it
im betting next season Helly convinces Jame to let her and Mark have their outties bodies full time
which would kinda suck as Marks outtie isnt a bad person
my favorite moment ngl
Loved the finale even though major questions still remain like Why was Gemma singled out and how did Lumon fake her death?? I'm still not exactly sure about purpose of Cold harbor and this stuff about barrier like, Gemma is in that room but then what's the grand plan here??
This season also cements the fact that innies and outies are two very distinct personalities and the conversation at that cabin was really fascinating. I do wonder, if innie Mark and Helly have a plan at the end when we know Lumon can switch their consciousness.
Classic Severance stringing the sheep along with endless questions
Ya, it was still very much fun but full questions weren't answered from the beginning.
I had fun with it I'm just getting sick and tired of them not answering questions - like exactly we have no clue wtf the purpose of Cold Harbor is
I loved the episode but yes I agree they still have more questions to answer in season 3
We finally get what Mark was doing with MDR and it was related to emotions but what is cold harbor and its purpose.
Gemma is gonna die once cold harbor is completed but what does that mean and a goat is involved too who is gonna be killed..
they'll answer our questions eventually
Ya but you can only wait so long
milchick was able to get out only because helly r wasnt there to hold the door
We literally do
They explained it in Episode 7 and then they did it again in Episode 10
I thought milchick was about to revolt because they keep ripping on his big words š
soon....
It's a fairly apt representation of how working for American corporations seems.
Visiting sites like that reminds me why I only get my news and similar from rss feeds. At least half the screen is taken up by ads
Just. Ugh.
use brave browser. i get no ads on that page
I use Firefox, which has been extensioned to 'eck. But it's just so frustrating that this is now the standard
we live under corporate rule. sucks for anyone who isnt the head of a corporation
I'd say they're all scrabbling to figure out how to monetise ai search
@wintry sinew there ya go
Yeah but they did explain Cold Harbor lol
They showed you Cold Harbor
No
I wouldnāt say they explained its purpose
They explained it in Episode 7
Lol
We know exactly what it is and have known for weeks
Even Dan Erickson said they were purposefully vague about it
Sure, but we know what it is
We don't know what they'll do with the tech
But we know what the tech is, what Gemma's role was and how it worked
We donāt know why Gemma was chosen
That's a different question
We donāt know anything about Gemma in relation to Lumon
We know that Cold Harbor is the final test in a series of experiments investigating whether or not a severed chip can truly suppress traumatic memories. Gemma has been severed 24 times and forced to undergo scenarios ranging from unpleasant to traumatic, testing whether or not these feelings and memories seep into her Outie or other Innies.
Cold Harbor, the final test, is about reassembling the crib meant to hold the baby she miscarried. The test is whether or not she would remember that, and it seems that she doesn't. This proves that the severed chip does lead to total separation, and can therefore be marketed as a product to prevent people having to experience uncomfortable or painful elements of their life (i.e. bumpy flights, writing thank you cards, grieving a child).
Most of this was explained in Episode 7. Episode 10 just reveals that the last test was grief.
I mean hereās the thing though and correct me if Iām wrong. I donāt think that makes any sense because Mark S doesnāt remember that his wife Gemma was killed in a car accident.
Exactly.
So we always knew it led to total separation
That's the whole point
Then I guess Cold Harbor serves no purpose lol
Nope
Yes we did
Ms Cobel very explicitly clarifies this in the episode lol
Otherwise Mark S wouldāve remembered
Dude you gotta pay more attention
The numbers that Mark logs are the coding for his own severance chip. Every set of "bad numbers" makes him think of Gemma, that's the point.
Mark S forgot he was grieving so did Gemma
He's refining his chip to remove all repressed, subconscious feelings of Gemma
Ms Cobel tells us this
The numbers are Gemma
I understand sheās the numbers
Mark is as much a part of the test as Gemma
They're refining the Severance chips to remove even the most buried memories or emotions
In macrodata refinement
The name of Mark's division has told us this from the start lol
So it didnāt work for Mark did it š
His innie
What?
Yeah
He wouldāve always chosen Helly
Yes
I just donāt buy that he refined jack shit
Ok
That's like saying you don't buy that severance chips could exist lol
It's the sci-fi technobabble of the show
No
It's not story, it's background plot
Itās just that the actions donāt reflect it
You're nitpicking over the wrong things here
They do
Ok hereās a situation
If the thing hadnāt been fully refined, Mark wouldāve immediately known Casey was Gemma
But he obviously didnāt put two and two together until he sees the photograph
So I donāt buy that Cold Harbor served a purpose
SEVERANCE
I do
But I also don't really care
Cos it isn't what's interesting about the show lol
There's a reason why Question 1 here is - "what is Mark and Helly's plan"
They clearly donāt have a plan
Lumon's unknowable cult schemes aren't remotely as interesting as the implications of the Innie and Outtie scenario they've created
I bought into the decision but it was spontaneous
You have to stop trying to solve a drama lmao
"Objectively there is no plan. It was a bad idea. Narratively it is illogical. No plan, no payoff. What is Cold Harbor anyway?"
I wouldnāt be this annoyed if some people didnāt genuinely consider this one of the best shows ever made
(read this in your worst Trump voice)
Like Iām sorry
It PALES in comparison with Breaking Bad
Iām just naming a random show
That runs circles around Severance
It's not one of the best shows ever (neither is Breaking Bad), but it is a strong sci-fi drama that has created an interesting scenario
Which is the Innie/Outie dichotomy
We're all complicit in the "out of sight, out of mind" attitude towards exploited workers and communities around the world
Severance is just bringing that same cognitive dissonance to our doorstep
The technicalities don't matter at all
It's an interesting piece of art
Ok
Do you want to be a consensus guy lol
Breaking Bad is really good, it's a great thriller with some of the best performances in all of telly
But it's not the best
I wouldnāt call myself complicit
Then what is the best your majesty
Better Call Saul is another example!
Dw I was coming to this
Better Call Saul is better yeah
I think itās more consistent
Tbh
I typed out a list
But really it's just a case that there is no "best show ever"
There's like a top tier of 50 or so
Breaking Bad is in there
But you could make the case for basically any of them
Severance isn't on that list but it's also barely started
I havenāt seen most old shows
Like Iāve never seen The Wire or Sopranos
I saw the sopranos pilot and it bored me
I wanna watch Oz but thereās no HD version
Fleabag and I May Destroy You are up there
I would say, if there was to be a list of The Greats, it'd need to have:
- Atlanta
- Better Call Saul
- Breaking Bad
- Chernobyl
- Fawlty Towers
- Fleabag
- Girls
- Hannibal
- I Claudius
- I May Destroy You
- Industry
- The Leftovers
- Mad Men
- Mr Robot
- Queer As Folk
- The Sopranos
- Succession
- The Thick Of It
- Twin Peaks
- The Wire
But there are a ton of honourable mentions too lol
I probs wouldn't get very far trying to rank these at all
Try it again
Hannibal is my all time favorite
I havenāt seen a lot of those
Some of my favorites (and ones I'd also include):
- Sharp Objects
- Utopia
- The Missing
- Baby Reindeer
- Adolescence
- Shogun (I know the three of them are recent, but they're some of the best TV I've ever seen)
- When they See Us
- The Underground Railroad
I feel like a lot of people would include Oz, The Shield, Mad Men, etc
Also no comedies (my favorite comedies are Nathan for You, The Inbetweeners, and Eastbound and Down)
Great taste
Also really great taste!
I totally forgot The Underground Railroad, pop that on mine as well
Unbelievable show, should've been seen around the world
I'll allow Shogun, even if I didn't gel with it as much as some
Baby Reindeer was great
This show is not lynchian in the slightest lol
I use only one extension: ublock
Just realized that the egg helena split has so much meaning šš
It's useless to explain a way to see things, it's just "they didn't show what it is" and that's it, the death of imagination, after all I'm not surprised by seeing a 𤔠pfp
But yeah
how tf does it mean the mind being split into multiple personalities and also the baby?
Everything in the show has a meaning, Dan Erickson even said it himself
I was just horrified by hearing his father (supposedly) say ||"I'd like you to eat em raw"|| that guy is a freaking weirdo, and there may be a reason for that too
he has a mommy fetish probably
Ew
I STARTED LAUGHING WHEN HE SAID FUCK
Lol yeah
dichen lachmans facial card is unreal
I heard she was in another show that felt similar, Dolls something
Anyway season 3 imo is gonna be:
Milchick dashing only to be late for the cue still has me laughing
He said that because Kier took āem raw and he wants Helena to be more like Kier
Still fucking WEIRD tho
yeah, the wish for her to eat em raw was weird, but i think it was weirder that he just sat there eating nothing and watching her eat... like why lol
also, the 1st thing Mark and Helly need to do in season 3 is whisper code words to each other so they know for a fact who is who
I disagree that it succeeded in total separation cause Mark walks in with blood all over and she just trusts him after a minute to follow him and leave the room. Cold Harbour failed
I honestly feel like lumon is trying to brain wash many people as they can by severing them
Ironically the ones that seem brainwashed are not severed
Yeah but i feel like their goal is just mind control
And also taking our fine shyt dichen lachman away š
Arenāt they already able to do that
I think they are half way done lmfao
@mild leaf
I think Cold Harbor was actually testing Mark and it succeeded
Mark left his wife of many years to be with Helly
If thatās not a sign of the barriers holding I donāt know what is
Yeah I thought I'd remembered something like that and yeah
When she finally plain told him "you're a f'ing weirdo"
Don't mind the gif caption, wrong one
Are they tho
That, reminds so much the behavior vibe of someone who is lowkey trolling
But actually Seth does it with the maximum effort so it's actually commendable
Get this man an Emmy!
severance sweep
I don't think that's it ... at all
It was to make an unthinkable workforce who just complies
I don't think it has anything to do with grief
Why was she building her unborn childās crib then lol
And why was every other room designed around discomfort or pain
She was taking it apart
He even said, "without thinking"
Same point
Exactly lol
It's nothing to do with grief
The point is that she has no emotional attachment to it after being severed lol
It literally only has to do with grief
It's to create a person who will work without question
So why is it her crib?
Why is it the same crib that was built for the baby she lost?
And why is every other room about a different type of pain?
To make people who will do things without thinking
Do you really think a show that is essentially "corporate bad" will have a company that cares about grief
It's all about creating the perfect worker drone
An unthinking machine
Lad
Theyāre building chips they can sell to sever unpleasant experiences
You can outsource your pain to an Innie
Thatās the endgame of capitalism
Paying not to feel
The barriers had also been holding - Mark would've made the same decision had he not completed it
Iād buy that
People are misunderstanding this finale so hard lmao
Well it's nice to have various interpretations
In the end tho I think we all agree the Eagan are some major dbags
Because they just can
Get off your high horse genius
Plenty of people are getting the completely wrong takeaway
Pure cinema
Not cinema, though
Cinema police over here
iMark, iPhone, iPad, iOS š¤
My mind may be fracturing but - For some reason I was remembering it as Pepe Felicia š
Me trying to explain my new theory to my fiance because a camera zoomed out a split second faster than other times so you gotta rethink the entire show.
Been there
Shit was crazy this season though
You are 100% correct
Go on then girl, give us your read
now that severance is over my soul is dull, any recommendation that are similar to this show cause i didn't find any?
technically silo is similar in terms of mystery but severance also has that psychological surreal aspect that silo hasn't
Well itās definitely not that the innies are subhuman, Iāll tell you that
Cool
Tell us your great understanding then lol
Donāt be condescending unless you can back it up
In regards to the ending, itās really pushing the ideas of the moral dilemmas that come with Severance as a concept and the individuality between the innies and outies. Mark has to choose between Gemma, who his outie has been married to for years and Helly, the love of his (short) life. In the end he picks Helly, leaving Gemma behind, proving not only does innie Mark have his own sense of personhood that is completely different than his outies, but the severance barriers are holding so strongly that he would leave behind a woman who his outie cares about so much
You have said literally nothing here
Except describing the scene
Well done, you saw the episode and can write a Wikipedia summary
just watched ep 3, man I sure hope they handle it better this time, I dont want to sit through another hughie situation
10 mins in ep5 now, ok, ok this is fine
ok yeah, big fan of this developement. It was handled really well
You're just being condescending
It's a tv show
Calm down
It's a mystery box tv show, which will have many potential ways to read it, which is what is at the heart of all good mystery boxes
Girl read what Iām replying to
The only people who know for sure are the ones who made it
Stop trying to police lmao
Nah. I'm just pointing out the pointlessness of shooting down every opinion that doesn't match your own
I was replying to this
It doesn't make good conversation
I don't shoot anything down, I go on to explain my opinion of the happening
Anyway
It's a tv show
Youāre picking a fight with the wrong girl
You're getting a little too eager ...
It's weird that you think I'm picking a fight and then lead with a personal insult
Once again, this is the guy I was pushing back on lol
Anyway
You can go back to talking about the show, just donāt ping me again thanks
That's ok, though. You've put me off wanting to converse about this show
Bummer
they were specifically talking about an article they read that had a stupid opinion about the finale
not trying to be pretentious or anything
this article (or post or something)
Agreed

No need to be an asshole, damn
Ur right, sorry
I misread and now respect u more
Station Eleven that I'm currently wattching, and The Resort, to name a few recent ones that were also rec'd to me
I wonder who bergman reacted to it
You know who else thinks the "innie" mind has no real value for the "outie" mind, and thus it can be freely exploited out of any rights regarding the whole person (even tho they may have signed on the legal-term misleading fine print)?
It may probably be the same kind of entity who thinks it's alright to bury some thoughts deep inside the psyche to the point of forgetting it, leading to consequences as a different sense of reality
Hey why not just put up a smile
noted
i was looking at a website recommending stuff similar to severance i got some interesting shows as well
like devs, i've seen the trailer it's so similar to severance
In Devs, a young computer engineer, Lily Chan, investigates the secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, who she believes are behind the murder of her boyfriend. Subscribe to tvpromosdb on Youtube for more Devs season 1 promos in HD!
Ā» Starring: Nick Offerman, Sonoya Mizuno, Alison Pil...
Thanks checking it out
Praise be š thanks much, added
yeah same with station eleven as well
We got our good share of copium now
Btw there is also Yellowjackets but it's got a different setting and plays on mystery in a different way and there are some unneeded scenes to skip, but yeah - and the latest season is kind of a š¤·
Looking at Dan Erickson's inspiration for the show might give some inspiration to ourselves
Not ready for another rewatch of the Matrix tho (excluding the 4th one that is just a meme)
i loved so much maniac and this station eleven is made by the same director!!
i wanna watch it
Dichen Lachman (Gemma) was also in Dollhouse, I've read in an article that is quite the same but the preview and the poster for it didn't really get me
It's really well done, with the temporal shifting and the story building, some things may sound a bit inconsequential or implausible but it is easy to get over them and just enjoy the show
I think I have not seen Maniac
i've seen maniac it's as confusing as you're describing this show, dw i think i'll like it if that's similar to it
it kinda has the same feeling of the main protagonist being unhappy about his life in a dystopian world
There is a phylosophy behind it that is quite relatable
i recommend maniac, it's a very short series with emma stone
Ah it's that one
yes
idk about dollhouse i will check that too
Let me know if you check it out in depth
yeah sure
When he says "pain can be destroyed" reminded me of Westworld, another good show you probably might've seen already, that plays on the mind
Devs + Maniac, I'm in for a treat
Just really not sure about Dollhouse, I'll let that one to the brave ones
i've heard of westworld since i've watched fallout
Imagine waking up from a cryo sleep
This is actually the funniest thing on earth
Adam Scott (Mark) deep dives into GQās top 10 biggest Severance moments. Watch as the American actor rewatches notable scenes from Severance Season 1 and 2, including: āThe Music Dance Experience,ā Innie Mark and Outie Mark talking to each other, and Markās final decision in the Severance Season 2 finale.
#AdamScott #Severance...
how does adam scott look younger in the GQ interview than in the show lmao
Fluorescent lighting
i hope helly r gets shot next season
genuinely hate her
unlike my glorious queen gemma
winston im having a full immortal vs rexsplode comparison rn
i fucking despise helly r
genuinely
i pray she dies next season
you hate her more than Helena?
i hate them both equally
for me innies are too young to hate. theyre basically toddlers
thankfully kids suck so i can hate em
actually
i hate helena more
but helly is fucking trash
bitch why the fuck u appearing at the worst possible time to take my sunshines happiness away you fucking shower thought existence having beta ass plain as day dressed fucking needle spawn
shes trash, idgaf if she makes mark s happy
ms casey can do the same jus give her a chance mark s, trust
so you just love gemma to the degree that anyone who stands in her way of happiness is pure evil?
yes
absolutely
idgaf how morally fucked that is i jus wanna see gemma happy, idgaf abt helly r or her feelings
is that based on anything about her personality or do you just find the actress overtly attractive?
i jus think shes super charming and sweet
also miss caseys awkward comfort around people was cute
also if it came down to looks yea gemma sweeps helly
its all pretty subjective. to me the actress who plays gemma has a very odd look, but its all just opnions so we're both right
ah lol, i guess i just assumed
i love u 2 much for standing up for ur opinions to thumbs you down
unless said opinion is defending trap or joker 2
then i will thumbs you down double hand style
nah, joker 2 is unwatchable. went into it with an open mind, still feel like a musical couldve worked, they just shit the bed

I was thinking about this too and just dismissed my mind telling it "you're so stupid" but damn thanks for bringing this to actual life lmao
That gemma is gold, helly is poop sounds like a radicalized thought deep somewhere in the mind - maybe a severance could fix that
Hate all the characters equally
I remember seeing back in the day someone with a picture in their bio saying "I hate everyone equally", long before Severance, it stuck with me because (despite the actual intended meaning by the person) it sounded quite a fair thing to do, to the others and to your own personal mental health
Lumon Terminal Pro š¤”
I loved it tbh.
Idk what else people expected from it
I genuinely hope helly r dies horribly next season
why put it in store if you wont let people buy it
I mean ngl idk why anyone besides mega fans would buy it
Its basically just a old school pc with keys missing and a track ball
It would have to be pretty cheap to buy and even then it would be a bulky addition to someones collection
you must eradicate from your essence childish folly
This would cost around 150-200⬠to build it yourself with raspberry Pi
the most Ben Wyatt, Adam Scott has looked in the series
The fuck she do to you?
Oh noooo she doesnāt want to die??
How selfish of her!
sorry Iām late guys but the finale was super yum š
itās okayā¦
nah idm the fact she wants to live
i do mind her jus showing up at the end to literally sway mike to her
meanwhile dylans in the office holding milchick back
Mario's innie on the severed floor
Severance main theme in the super mario 64 soundfont
Original song by Theodore Shapiro
Oh god what are they doing to Gemma š š š š
taking her pain away, dont worry, its all on the up and up
What pain š š
her pain
Seemed like they were diddling her
just trust in Keir.
What's with all the cute outfits and taking her to roons
Oh not that cult bullshit
Maniac is what Severance could have been in a different reality, quality show heavily recommended šÆ
Whats with the birthing cabin
Is it for birthing eagan kids?
Or bastards
Harmony says she's one of jame's when going in w mark
shes been severed 25 times.... she takes up 1/25th of the frame...
Clock in cause it's time for the Honest Trailer for Severance! Our outties had never seen the show and decided to binge it all over a weekend where all we ate were waffles and booze, but that sounds like a problem for our innies, no? This show is good! Do you think we'll get some answers in season 3 for what the F it is we're watching?
If you'r...
They still manage to be 80% genius lel
The chipotle idiocy was a great subtrahend
i dont think im down for multiple spin offs of Severance. i hate when someone comes up with something good and then decide to turn it into a forever revenue stream... just tell the story and end it
