I always enjoy to watch a genre director who was kidnapped by Hollywood and made to direct big blockbuster slop, go back to their roots and direct some fire action thriller. This is what Spanish director Jaume Collet-Serra managed to do with Carry On. He truly channel his inner self from movies dated back a decade ago like Non-Stop 2014, Run All Night 2015 with Liam Neeson even his also serviceable Unknown 2011 also with Neeson or his very fun shark thriller called The Shallows from 2016. Carry On is very much his thing, filled with suspense and thrills, relatable personal conflict and perfect pace. Altogether a familiar but satisfying experience. Jason Bateman should play more psychopaths he is a natural.
