I don’t need a featurette lol, I’ve seen the musical three times
We got the newest trailer before tron played and I kept telling my big sis to close her eyes like me since we literally already bought the tickets but she refused and then literally said "oh wait this is showing too much" but then proceeded to keep watching anyways 😭
I remember the final trailer for the mario movie also showed off like the entire movie (also from universal hmmm)
WHAT
Fuk, I wish I found that out for myself while watching the movie 😭
Damn bro November is a big month for him huh
Running man and now wicked
The more I think about it, while its awesome to see domingo keep getting more and more roles, I dont see his voice fitting a cowardly character, more so a prideful lion
I really doubt he'll change up his voice for this role
(I mean why would he? its a beautiful voice)

People are seriously counting first looks? lol
SO HYPED
“Early reviews for Wicked for Good are overwhelmingly positive, with critics calling it an "epic and heartbreakingly tender conclusion" that "exceeds all expectations". Reviewers have praised the film as a magnificent cinematic work and a more cohesive and thrilling experience than the second act of the musical, with some even calling it a masterpiece. Specific praise has been given to director Jon M. Chu and the performances of Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, with some critics highlighting the latter's dramatic acting skills” -** google ai summary**
||“David Gordon - “If Wicked part one was faithful to the blueprint of the stage, Wicked: For Good builds out the world to create a full and different (but the same) and extremely emotional version of act 2. It’s a thrill ride and a heartbreaker and it’s sexy and everything you want it to be.”||

Temptation is so big but i should probably just wait
They are just the 10sec or so of each songs previewed in "Wicked : One Wonderful Night" special... they don't show anything story-wise
I mean, there's one shot that has ||Glinda's pink train||, but that's more like a detail than story-spoiler
Oh right im already seeing this a week from now I forgor
please oh please can this thread be reused for the sequel? keep the flame alive
SIX DAYS
7.5 till I get to watch it because KID wants to see it too… gone are the days of early preview screenings as he grows up, sigh
“No Good Deed” reimagined, featuring icons Cynthia Erivo and Misty Copeland
Can’t wait for that song in part 2
And they said part 2 didn’t have iconic songs
And they added a solo song to each woman in the film from the original composers and lyricist.
Hyyyyyyyyped
Shoutouts to the people at our theater who always make these cool balloon displays
and uh
SO CLOSE
Just saw For Good and I cried my eyes out
Jon M. Chu says there's "a lot of ideas" flying around about a 3rd #Wicked movie.
well the universe of the Wicked books is a four book series
Once you've seen the movie you'll ask what you could even do with a third movie
If people want to see these two actresses paired up together again just make another non wicked movie featuring them
TOMORROWWWW
Preview?
Ye, those were last night
My showing was in the largest room and was packed
so many amazon subscriptions around me
Yeah early screening for a class I’m taking
Amazon Prime early screenings too
sweet...
Yeah I like a movie that is confident enough to do open/public previews and early screenings.
Like the OLD days.
It’s exciting that way though nowadays, people put out the spoilers way too easily like if I didn’t see the film yesterday, I would’ve been spoiled quite a lot
Oohh like for Superman!
Wait do all prime subscribers get preview invites?
It's on a lightning deal sort of thing, through Fandango etc... sometimes as short as 30min before the preview... usually 12-24 hours... and as far as I know... only MGM and Universal distributed films are doing that, but I could be wrong.
I believe it's called Prime Premiere for MGM films... and for Wicked it's called OzOnAmazon.com or something... (unfortunately not available for us Canadians)
Well... if people wanted to spoil MAJOR plot points... the Theater Kids would've done so already. lol
It's pretty easy to just look at the original broadway musical's wikipedia to find out yourself, if you're that type of person, you know?
The thing about this specific film is that it's an EVENT, and the experience wouldn't really be soiled too much if you got spoiled on the story points, imo.
Movies that they are not confident on, would even set professional embargo to like... the day before or morning of release... that's just... like... shooting yourself in the foot.
Back in the day, even a shitty low budget film would've been able to open on 4000 screens and recoup the film's budget on a single weekend, just on "look how bad this film is"... those days are gone with streaming, because if people are unsure about a movie, they'd just wait for streaming.
It’s the Honest Trailer for Wicked! Sure it’s a little late to the party but that’s just what fabulous divas do, and we’re just in time for Wicked: For Good!

Follows Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The second of a two-part feature film adaptation of the Broadway musical.
Superman was the first time i saw this tactic be used, curious if it was ever done beforehand
She said she'll make it on Wednesday night, or ASA she's available to do it.
The scores would've just gone higher as more and more theater kids go see it, maybe even multiple times
This one doesnt feel anywhere near as rewatchable as the first
4.0!!!! Not a bad ranking at all!!!!
Can I ask why?
I guess i just found the songs not as singable as the first, and the pacing wasn't as consistent too, making this one feel much longer even with a shorter runtime. All the story had to focus on was the witches in shiz and then Oz. Here you just have so much going on with every character they hardly catch a break
clearly all the fans of the first love the sequel as much so I must be in the small minority
there was a huge burst of applause when my screening of part 1 ended, everyone present had a blast, but the applause when part 2 ended was pretty awkward, a few people clapped and then a couple others joined for a couple seconds (mind you i watched this in a larger room this time with way more people present). Not sure if this says anything
TONIGHT
firstly, clapping at the movies is fucking stupid
I've done it
Secondly, the sequel, or part 2, was always going to do technically worse
decades of hype for the first, where as part is just a continuation cause they were never going to release a 5hr theatrical nor were they gonna squeeze out a 3hr musical with a movie like this
Nooo its funnnnn
like i said, ive done it, not proud of it lol
People clapped when halloween 3 ended when I saw it at the theater lol
Many years ago me and a few friends went to see fast and furious 6 and we clapped when it ended 😂
People clapped when jurassic world rebirth ended too 💀
the audience sounded like they had a good time so I was like eh at least that's what matters most
Part 2 is a bit of a cry fest, ending being a bit non applauded is normal.
And all the criticism are existing in the original musical, just more obvious when broken to two.
Even in the original, Act 2 had always had the criticisms of “songs are not iconic” and “too many characters and story”
No Good Deed just doesn’t go up against Defying Gravity, nor maybe should it.
Im so excited even despite knowing even a lot wicked's biggest fans agree the second part is inferior
Multiple people i follow ADORED For Good
FUCKING THREE HOURS AWAY AHHH
Will be hearing all these songs and learning the story for the first time
And then sometime soon i will watch a full wicked slime tutorial
I don’t think it’s inferior, it’s just story heavy so not as thrilling a ride, that’s all
Reprise of I’m Not That Girl … I’m interested to know how they did it. The one in the first movie still brings me to tears
No real need, multiple sections’ treatment in the first film is a lot more profound than the musical, I expect film 2 will do the same to act 2. Also For Good has 2 new songs not in the musical itself.
If you can, do it live, that’s where the full impact of the play is going to be felt.
Noted!
Erm, no i love it, just that jurassic world rebirth was the last movie I expected to get claps
:D
Oh yeah, will make the WFG spoiler channel after the showing ends
I think it may be necessary for those who have seen this film but not For Good yet
OR we can just keep this thread but spoiler tag For Good stuff for a while
No good deed is one of my favs so I was glad it was what I wanted! ||ariana did not meet my standards though….||
||idk I felt a severe presence of over and under acting?||
We’ll see, on One Wonderful Night her vocals got a lot better. I’m sure she took a lot of notes from Cynthia in the re-recording and sound production
||I gave it a 3.5 but I think it had everything to do with the editing choices||
Oh you saw For Good?
No no, we didn’t write any story points
No story spoilers for For Good here that’s all
Ok thank god I didn’t say anything
I’ll put spoiler tags on everything just in case lmao
Yeah don’t tell everyone that they killed Toto… oops

Or that dorothy overthrows everyone and rules with an ironfist
that would be a big on-
wait…
Damn spoilers
Yeah I mean I’ve also seen the musical a million times so I knew the story going in.
She got a bunch of people with rollerblades for arms and legs as her army
the people sitting next to me didn’t tho so I got to enjoy their reactions
Live twice for me… slimed enough though lol
Slimed until I can’t no more
which is infinity
Cause I still watch it
The tinman on rollerblades is the best visual
I feel bad for Katy Perry though, I think it went up her nose
So many people have slime in their lungs because of Nickelodeon
Anyhow, probably an hour late for that singalong, the restaurant that wife picked is sllloooow
Im so happy I fucking loved that
Cynthia and Ariana knocked it out of the park especially
Gonna be thinking about this
As of right now im not sure which Part I love more
Personally hard disagree
Loved her so much
||im such a kristen chenowith simp that even other glindas on broadway are hit or miss for me. ariana was great i wont deny that. I just think there were some moments where her acting choices weren't my cup of tea||
i have to rant about the choices at the beginning of the film but i cant without the other thread lmao
You’re never going to beat someone who started the role and grew it from workshop
agreed but i do think that on stage cynthia would be a close 2nd to idina menzel for me. i think i really feel that gap in songs like no good deed but hearing it on stage would make a difference for me
Especially not a normally POP singer
I love these so much thinking of them as one film
And also both seperately
she's theater trained so she's the best option amongst the popular choices for the role
In the first film, my biggest critique is Ariana’s enunciations
yup
its a mix of both the pop and theater styles and the inconsistency can bother people
RELEASE THE SOUNDTRACK EARLY UNIVERSAL FUCK
From what I’ve heard though, I think they re-recorded a fair bit, and she had better dictions
the movie is out
Im already feeling Wicked deprived
They dont release the soundtracks till friday 😭
i listened to the og cast recording for my no good deed feels
in the parking lot
as i was leaving
yup yup
Yeah don’t even try to compare to that… it’s a guaranteed way to suck the joy out of the movie lol
This was my first exposure to all of these songs
I loved this
I know Girl In The Bubble was a new song but what was the other new one
“No Place Like Home”
so the other new ones were a few of the interlude songs and no palce like home\
Its time

I am so happy that you loved it 😄
I don’t get why they didn’t just reuse this chat
For people who have seen the first but dont know what happens in the second part
I feel like people wouldn't be visiting the second movie thread at all at that point
Maybe just rename the thread to wicked parts 1 & 2
I wish colman domingo wasn't wasted in part 2, I actually really digged the voice he did for cowardly lion
but then ||his character only shows up for like two scenes, and his second one he just whimpers||
Is worth it to see for good in IMAX with laser? No Dolby cinema near me unfortunately
Smol review
Loved the review 🥳
Merci merci ❤️ ❤️
As soon as it hits midnight tonight you best believe im loading up that soundtrack
Damn, dolby is the best way to hear movies
May as well go all out as much as you can and see it in imax
Karma's SMALLS are longer than my usual LONGS lol
Honestly? IMAX uses their own separate secondary mixing, and tend to actually use the ATMOS systems more effectively than a standard Hollywood Atmos mixing. While Dolby Atmos is the "most to original" mix... I tend to prefer the mix in IMAX better myself.
Ive been underwhelmed with the sound in every imax visit ive done
Just like RIDE FILMS' 3D tend to be more accentuated than normal MOVIE 3D.
Two of them ive been to (even the one that's the real deal and shows 70mm) aren't anything special and another cranks the sound far too high for the sake of it
The goal isn't the same... IMAX tries to pump things up, while standard ATMOS is about flat environmental immersion.
IMAX's mixing can be a bit tiring though, same as Ride Films' 3D.
I saw part 2 at my theater's non imax big screen format and funnily enough its how I noticed my theater got new projectors I was like "oh wow all of sudden the colors and clarity look sooooo much better now" (it didnt help this movie's dull darker scenes look any better tho)
I literally saw predator badlands on the same screen a week before and felt underwhelmed with the image quality as usual
If Dolby cinema was an option I would've chose that
There's a Dolby Atmos theatre as well but it's not the same as Dolby Cinema.
I find that most theaters, even the certified IMAX theaters, tend to twist the environmental knobs too high so "audience can feel they have the bang for their bucks"... it's hard to find a reference theater these days... the projectionists and sound engineers are no longer the old craftpeople they used to be.
Plus if I go with the IMAX I'm going from digital to laser as well
Dolby Cinema is Dolby Vision + Dolby Atmos, and tend to be more reference on both.
Yea, my non imax big screen format claims it has atmos but I could hardly notice the effect, maybe I only heard a few overhead sounds when elphaba wooshes off screen and when theres a shot with a bunch of flying monkies
The bass there is like non existent
If you can have a choice, Dolby Cinema is the best overall experinces I've had, yeah...
Its like you can hear the bass but not feel it
The ||tornado scene|| was a good example to prove this
MMhmm... REFERENCE theaters like Dolby Cinema theaters had to get recertified every year (or was it 6 months, I forgot), and the knobs for all the channels are marked on reference levels or even under locks. MOST cinemas are NOT... I find they LOVE to push the BASS knob way too high.
At least when I rewatch wicked part 1 it'll be on my tv with Dolby vision + atmos
But yeah I'm leaning towards laser IMAX for For Good
All you're missing is that damn $1000 of certification where a technician comes to your place and fengshui your entire setup lol..
(Or like $11,000 if you want to put their logo on your door)
These laser projectors that theaters keep installing definitely make a nice difference
Less knobs to fuck with, more consistent experience... the brightness is just an added bonus lol
Like now my theater claims to have them since I saw wicked 2 and yeah 100% big difference compared to all my past visits
Even when the trailers started and I saw the mario movie one, I was like "woah holy crap this looks so sharp, clear, and vivid all of a sudden"
It looked as good as the actual hdr screen my theater installed last year
I miss being within walking distance of an Exhibition Theater like when I was in Shanghai, sigh
I wish I had a walking distance theater since childhood
But we just got it last spring
and boy have i gone a ton of times since
If I had an AMC with Dolby Cinema and 70mm IMAX within walking distance I'd even get Stubs A-List
I’ve always been making it a point to be within 5min driving of a theater wherever I lived, ever since I had a choice… including where I bought my place… not always able to get full Exhibition, or even Reference though.
Id be shocked if im not their most loyal visitor if not one of their top ones
Been there since opening day
Yeah Exhibition > Dolby Cinema > IMAX > normal theater even with laser
Ghostbusters frozen empire was my first movie there lol
I wanted to try the screen x format
lol nice
Then a month later their 4dx screen was fully operational
I honestly don’t think imax adds too much to most films… like… Dune sure, but why Oppenheimer? lol
Weirdly enough the return of the king was my first experience seeing a movie that way and boy it was a crazy good first impression, every movie ive seen since has paled in comparison
Cinema is my preferred method of movie consumption, even with a calibrated setup at home
Every minute of that movie fully took advantage of the format, the sweeping shots had this subtle chair movement it was mesmerizing
It was scary like I thought i was imagining i was moving but it also didnt feel like I was
Tru! For the most part at least
Really just for new movies
Most of the time I see a older movie, they dont even use the newest 4k restoration and instead a likely old crappy looking hd master that doesnt hold up on a big screen
I’ll still take shitty mom and pop/cult theater to home
bill and ted, halloween 3, and toxic avenger looked rough when I saw them there, but their 4k blu rays look super nice
Anyways uhhhhh flying singing green lady movie lol
I’ll be watching Green on Pink Bonanza Part 2 on AVX 3D
Not perfect, but at least they try to mostly keep closer to reference. The only film I’ve seen there that was GROSSLY out of reference was Predator: Badlands (aforementioned Bass channel fidgeting)
Wicked was good in the theater. I hope For Good is going to sound alright too.
What do

For copyright reasons we are forced to upload the HD version of "THE WIZARD AND I" on an alternative platform called VIMEO, there you can enjoy it in the best quality.
I know people have issues with her more mumbly enunciations and diction... but of the popular enough singers with a decent box office draw who can also act... I don't think there's a better choice for Glinda
Dove Cameron was a popular fan casting since the project got announced, even before the official announcement sometime in 2021, as well as Amanda Seyfried.
Ariana Grande was always in the front-running through, even in the fan casting, just not as high as those 2 if I remember correctly...
But Dove hasn't been quite "in the spotlight" in a hot minute in 2021 (and that her new look since 2019 had been maybe "too hot" for Glinda), and Amanda had already been in Les Mis, so wouldn't have been a good choice if the studios wants to make sure they are their own thing... not to mention that it's a little hard to pass her off as a uni student (though I guess Cynthia Erivo pulled it off).
