Big glow up
Just saw this movie the other night. Movie was great until the cheap ending this film had. In my opinion an unrealistic and poorly executed way of concluding this otherwise very intriguing film with an antagonist whose motif is really really unique and pretty damn good. The acting was also excellent and I loved Hugh Grantās performance.
What cheap ending?
I mean sister barnes suddenly recovering from her slit throat wound? A throat slice is extremely deadly and in no way was she able to recover strength especially after Mr. Reed started slicing her arm up and pulling tendons and arteries out. She did end up dying but I just find it too convenient for her to recover suddenly, eliminate the antagonist and then dying
I get it, but I'm choosing to believe her surgery had something to do with it and the film(makers) failed to show us how or to really make the point.
It took a nosedive for me once the Ringu prophet showed up
It was pretty horrifying for a few moments though
Shouldn't have wasted that existential panic on what turns into a horror movie.
I want to watch this
Watch it, Mrs. Skywalker. It's good.
I really have to say I liked Hugh Grant and his character in general
im gonna check if its on cinemas still and go
i think
i got it?
I review, breakdown and explain Heretic. I discuss the 2024 A24 horror movie which starred Hugh Grant as Mr Reed who tested Sister Paxton and Sister Barnes on their belief system and religion. I react to Sister Barnes' death, the meaning of the ending and answer if Sister Paxton died or if it was real.

00:42 Heretic Ending Explained...
He killed Barnes because she would be less easily controlled. Paxton came across as someone who would easily be controlled.
@bleak igloo I think he deserves the nomination 100% but tbh Iām still rooting for Seb Stan
Same
Although I haven't seen A Different Man
But I want my boy Seb to get more love
Iām confused
So this āprophetā
Is she just a victim or is she actually someone supernatural
Wait nvm
Good film, but started falling apart in Act 3
Agree
Did you watch the movie
Yes.
Victim.
True. Act 3 was the weakest, but still came out good as a whole film.
Yeah Iād agree the last bit was the weakest. And to me it felt like the writers were trying too hard to keep you guessing at the cost of a convincing plot
But I thought it was overall not bad. I enjoyed it although the throat stab and then he stabs her and then dead girl gets up and hits him all felt kinda lame
I feel like the more I think about things the more itās gonna fall apart (Iām already wondering why all his caltives were at the same old age, and why he kept them in those tiny cages cause thatās like, an inconvenient way to keep prisoners and I think theyād quickly die like that etc) so Iām just gonna take it for what it was, an enjoyable and unique horror movie, and not think too much about it
I watched this movie today. Overall good movie. The heart of the movie was the duel of ideas
He saw the scar earlier
