opening credits song goes nice
Where did he take that serpent line from
serpent line?
Opening credits
do you mean the:
Well you're slim and you're weak
You've got the teeth of the hydra upon you
You're dirty, sweet, and you're my girl
that's from a different song named Get It On, same band
It’s from TRex
Not the bang a gong
One that comes on right at the beginning even before longlegs comes on
I just watched the intro using a (ahem)camrip(ahem) and I didn't see not hear anything about a serpent
book of revelation. there's no S, it's singular.
or whatever the line is
Yeah that’s the line
almost like I've seen it three times 😭😭😭
Same
As a lifelong Christian I wanna have a convo with Mr. Perkins
I feel like I'm missing something. The climax felt very straight forward.
At the start of the movie they go over the case and say that it's like there's someone in the house, but there's no evidence of anyone being there, and my brain instantly went "well, I guess they're being possessed to do it, probably by Satan". And then at the peak of the movie it comes out that is exactly what's happening, and rather than getting that satisfying movie twist moment, it felt more like "well yeah, obviously".
And then she kind of just walks into that last house, shoots them, and leaves. And it all felt very straightforward.
Idk, with how everyone was hyping up this movie so much I guess I was just expecting something a little more. And the fact that I did feel a little underwhelmed also makes me feel like I'm missing something
I get that the doll being unharmed means there's a loose thread and maybe there's something interesting there to unravel, but otherwise with that ending I just kind of thought "is that it"?
Also, when she went to shoot the doll and her gun clicked the girl next to me said "bruh" in the meme voice
It was a stupid and generic climax unfortunately
I feel like they shouldn't have had Lee be a pyschic. I feel like that immediately opened the door to the supernatural being possible and immediately made me conclude that it was probably satanic possession.
I think that if they had the movie be a bit more grounded then the twist would have hit a bit harder
It also kind of feels like they never really came back to her being psychic after the first third of the movie. Or at least not in a very noticeable way.
Also, one last thing I'll say. When they're in the FBI department listening to Longlegs sing happy birthday and it's kind of silly, and then that one agent pauses it and speaks very frankly about the case, the juxtaposition reminded me of that one I Think You Should Leave skit where they're in court and there's a person detailing a very silly text exchange in a very serious voice.
the only real thing that I found with the ending was that Lee was probably arrested
Carter was very much trying to pinpoint her as the accomplice, wouldn't be surprised if they kept a side investigation directed at her. Should the cops come at the final crime scene and she's still there, she'll obviously be arrested for murder but Carter's skepticism might add to her case.
Kinda adds some weight to the severity of the ending, like how evil won or something. But the body lacks so much that it loses the reason for the weight
I'm so obsessed with this movie in that I think we need an extended cut, or maybe even a remake in the far future (even if we'll lose Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage's attachments)
There is actually a shot that has stuck with me for a while. It’s the shot of Carrie Anne’s doll in front of the mirror. Let me see if I can find it
This one
Because it lingers for so damn long
creepay
i loved this so much
in the teaser it was so fast I thought it was a real person
Yeah for real
I was literally up late the other night thinking about that shot
Cause I was listening to Dead Meat’s podcast episode about Longlegs
What a great moment
Gahhh now I want to see it again damn it
I’ll probably go tomorrow
Not tomorrow Tuesday my fault
did you see the little devil appearances?
i only caught 4 but there are apparently 15
Yeah I caught most of them
there was 1 in the trailer so already sort of knew the devil's in it but like
i didnt know there were that many
Yeah I noticed more and more with each watch
how many times have you seen it?
3
I've seen it twice, once in 35mm
That sounds awesome
It’s my number 3
I think I'm gonna check out Perkins' other movie The Blackcoat's Daugher tmr
I caught Gretel and Hansel a while ago go and liked that too
Need to watch black coats daughter too
seriously??? i only caught like one or two 😭😭😭
i gotta watch this movie again lol
I got like 10 to 7 lol
im gonna need to watch like a breakdown on youtube or something lol
Yeah i agree, in my opinion they poorly explained why the supernatural happens. Its just kind of thrown into the plot
When you have nothing else to grasp for, you go supernatural.
YES.
can we be friends
Totally agree with that
like a deceptive detective thriller morphing into something else
demonic possession was the also the first thing that came to my mind too lmao
although I didn’t fully believe it until the reveal
So it was still surprising
I mean, it's not like I fully believed it either. I did still think that there was a possibility that Longlegs was a more traditional serial killer as well.
It's just when it was revealed, it was less of an "OH MY GOD" and more of a "Oh, okay, so I WAS right"
And it's not like I disliked it. I still liked the movie. I just thought it wasn't the most shocking twist.
Which is fine. Not every movie needs to have world altering twists.
I think walking out of the movie I was a little bitter that the movie wasn't a 10/10 for me (I may have gotten caught up in the hype a little bit). But now that I've had some time to sit on it, I'm able to be content that it was still a decent movie and it doesn't need to be perfect for me.
people are having sky high expectation for horror films nowadays because the bar hasn’t been set that high
So as much as a decent horror film will get a lot of hype
I mean longlegs was beyond decent, it’s an absolute masterclass imo, but the hype really does ruin it sometimes
I think this movie portrays itself as a very smart horror. There's a lot of mystery in the entire movie and it makes it seem like it's leading up to this big conclusion. I didn't think the ending was bad, per se, I just thought it was a little simple, given what I was expecting.
Like even if there was more back and forth between her and the other FBI agent or they showed her showing some remorse over having to shoot her partner and her mom, but instead they kind of glaze over that to get to the end and instead it felt like the ending was just "she shoots the bad guys and wins"
I think if the movie stuck the landing at the end then it would have been almost a 9 or 10 for me, but because it didn't it affected my enjoyment a little bit.
Like even showing us a tiny bit more where she gets arrested for the murders or something, that would have been a good bittersweet ending, in my opinion. She put a stop to the killings, but now has to pay the price for them. But instead they just ended it and we have to imagine what happens next, which I guess is interesting in itself, but not particularly satisfying.
EZ solution, dont listen to hype
Easier said than done sometimes
Longlegs!
There she is
the almost birthday girl
Mandolegs
how to get those bangs
need those fuck ass bangs fr
Bangs and that jacket
nobody would understand if I did Halloween costume....
I’m gonna do it either way

i will recognise anybody's with those bangs
Go to the hairdresser and tell em u want the Lee Harker cut
I want the longlegs cut
Bashes your head in 🙂🙂🙂
Release the longlegs cut!!!!
The loooonglegs cut
God damnit 2 day late
Its the states only
oh my god
who is that
Jesus god no lol
i liked it a lot, but yeah not a single moment scared me
Not even the Polaroid jumpscare?
the what?
im trying to remember which scene that was
i think i might have been lightly startled or a little creeped out once or twice
but nothing actually scared me
I think the scene where Lee is looking through the old photos
And sees the pic of Longlegs. It’s a wild visual
oh right i remember that
when they found the doll in the barn and it opened its eyes
me and my friend both laughed so hard 😭😭
That was so corny lmfao
I really think this movie was a satire
it would be such a shame if so considering how strong the concept is on paper
nowhere in Cage and Monroe's performance does it indicate satire
i havent watched any of his other films
but I think Perkins just has corny ideas
honestly i wish this film just cut the few jumps it does have out entirely. They aren’t needed.
it's weighed down a lot by its editing decisions
the long shots would've been nice if not for the annoying zoom
I'm with ya lmao
Felt like it, don't think it intended to.
Buying this movie the second it’s on vod
One of the most rare instances of a perfection of tone, atmosphere and personality
unfortunately thats probably the case
I suffered when it was presented to me, so y'all must suffer, too...
One thing I don’t understand
Why does lees mother shout “don’t call me that!” When Lee calls her mom right before she shoots her
Yeah I kinda assumed that
My birthday is on the 14th 😭
Mr Longlegs is gonna come and kill me with his evil dolls
This cannot be fucking happening 2 me
Rip
Look out your window he’s out there
Yay! what gift?
I hope it’s a life sized doll. I’ve always wanted one
boy are you in luck
I’m sorry singing nic cage is not scary
I think I’m FINALLY watching this today
Anybody get hints of comedy, almost parody from this movie?
Like when the mom said something like “mommy used to be a surgeon, now she spends her life murdering families”
You can’t tell Me that wasn’t meant to be kind of funny and self aware
i just saw a krsten video even he said it was satirical
something something critical of elevated horror
nah man , thats just nic feckin cage
I really don’t think it is
I don’t think osgood Perkins is the type of guy to do some critique of modern horror
I think he just wanted to make a cool movie
We should see it together
Oooo yeah
Yea
Im gonna get stilts so I can have long legs while I longlegs

This shit is so cool
My final verdict for this movie is that I would die for Nic Cage
Good
Heh
Yeah that goes hard
Watched it again, I would still die for Nic Cage
The devil really do just be standing there. He's like a socially awkward teenager, wondering if they know he's there or not
lmao, I love the little "mommy daddy" text on there too...
Longlegs's star Maika Monroe reads some Letterboxd reviews of the film (including one that needs a decoder) and gives thanks to the Letterboxd community.

She's so pretty fr
Very
Definitely was crushing on her ever since It Follows (2014).
Also cool that they’re going with a sequel to that one.
Too bad that movie sucks
Definitely a mix bag. Also no clear answer on what decade it was in lol.
I remember there was a clip of some shell phone thing?
Top review summed it up
I liked It Follows. I gave it a 4.5/5

Yes
https://fixupx.com/theseventhshe/status/1840050285466534243 warning very violent. You can tell they had a lot of fun making the movie tho, very in depth.

MediumDong
I was drawing in class and is it just me or does this kinda look like Maika Monroe
So just watched it
I have a question so longlegs basically wanted harker to find all of this out basically giving her clues and leading her to find out but why did he even wanted her to find out was never explained
Her mother and the deal of the birthday
He wanted to replace her mother to continue it
I suppose
No.
i like longlegs
watched it a second time recently and spotted a ton of the hidden devils
absolutely no idea how i missed all but one or two the first time
even the really obvious ones 😭
There’s quite a few of em hidden away
I think I'm gonna grab the 4k but it doesn't look like there's a steel book anywhere?
i have it on blu ray, not steelbook or anything though 😔
