She did change talent agencies the moment the first trailer dropped for a reason lol
Why did she even choose this lmao
Do they not know about Sony Spiderverse to be shit?
I'm pretty sure she just expected the Marvel franchise type deal
She would have been an interesting madam web tho. A younger version that lasts longer, but who could've seen the blunder.
She was brainwashed into thinking she was in the mcu
Basically Sony is straight up lying to the cast
Sony such a dummi
The first version of the screenplay was the one she signed up for but there were a lot of rewrites
Like, a lot lot
Jeez what was Sony cookin
what have they lied about?
what made her think she's part of the MCU lol
Maybe the way they worded it to her
She tagged Marvel Studios in her post a while ago
Is this a good hate watch experience in theatres with the girlfriend?
From someone who loves the film, you should be able to get a kick off of it, especially with someone.
oh thats a great sign, thanks đ
Do ping me with your thoughts after ya watch it?
Oh of course, it might not be soon but yes!
you want to be in an environment where you can freely comment without disturbing anyone
maybe wait for Vod?
Oh we definitely are going to. dune 2 will be the theatre experience this week
@supple mesa is it really that good in ur opinion?
yes!
if you want more deets on my thoughts
I havent watched it so i cant have an opinion yet
but is it kinda like those movies that are nothing like the trailer only in a good way
The trailer was an odd representation of the film for sure. I say give it a fair shot! In cinema if possible
Yeah
BTW i meant like this video but in a good way https://youtu.be/16aVvXM8C3I
well i wanted to see jack overcome the antagonist of the math test
I'll watch it after KFP4
and dune 2
Aiight
I feel bad for the folks who had to work on the Madame Web trailer, the same trailer company also made the excellent second trailer for Oppenheimer so I know they have talent
That trailer was such a bad first impression lol. I dont even like it and well, yk my thoughts lol
From someone who doesn't love it don't waste your time
Please god don;t
don't do it bruh
You're better off eating youre own toe nails
Don't do it bruh
Please god
Let it die
I would rather watch Dakota Johnson in a shit film than eat toenails lmao
Damn
Well
More for me
proceeds to open bag of toe nails
Framer please dont do that mental image
Crunches down on the white thin film freshly cut from his toe
YUMMMM
joke is on u i didnt read that
Bro by the time i get to that movie its prolly just for online streaming and i'll just watch it on my computer
Can't argue with that logic
Well its a decent part of film pop culture right now, good or bad, I think its worth a watch
or at least for me who wants to be a part of any discourse
Not it's not
It's fallen off
Dune 2 is all the talk rn
The most Madme Web had while it was in the spot light was it getting shat on.
But do as you will
in a sense that you'd probably be able get all her attention
LMAO
When does it come on VOD?
lol
A fixed door doesnât pay the rent
It is now obvious and clear to everyone that Madame Web is:
- Successful money laundering scheme
- Temporary solution for Sony to keep and extend license of Spiderman characters
- Keeping Sony's Spider-Man Universe alive by any means necessary
Oh yeah
This was made out of l necessity
Nothing else
Yeap, add to that the first time director of fully featured film who wanted this:
SJ Clarkson will be fine, I think, she's got a solid career in television directing to fall back on
maybe she had success with television, here everything is complete mess and chaos
yeah, Clarkson is definitely really not in fault here. She was just a hired hand
Can't imagine she had control over final cut or anything like that
Seen this seven timesc loved it every time!
May buy the steelbook if i can afford
Do you love if more then dune?
Iâm glad to see that you are enjoying it
good approach if you ask me
This was such a mess from the script to the editing to the acting from the main villain. Yeah I see why people think this is garbage.
I was excited to watch this movie and see for myself if it was really as bad as everyone says it is. Unfortunately, while I saw the potential in the premise, I think the movie would have been better as a series. With one-hour-long episodes, the story could have been explored in greater depth than in the two-hour movie. I didn't think Dakota's pe...
Is this at least worth seeing for how bad it is? lol
Wait, it's not in my theaters anymore lol, never mind
Dakota Johnson does look attractive though, personally prefered she was taller. but eh
Saw this and I am on the side of the people that didnât like it. I thought it was bad
i think yeah
Say what you want about this movie but this shot goes hard
I can get 100 terrible looking shots for every 1 good one
Doesnât save the film

We got goofy ass shit like this bruh.
That made me laugh because itâs so stupid đ
watching now no idea wtf that S was
lmao
Spider?
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
The pepsi sign I think
Or a part of it
Yeah its the letter of the sign that falls and triggers the collapse that makes Ezekiel fall to the ground.
I just liked one of the shots, I guess
Which apparently kills him.
Even tho, he can punch a fire work.
And get hit by a car
And can lanch multiple policemen across a room
...
This film is dumb ash
Oh shit sorry! Meant to reply but it slipped my mind.
Iâll send you my thoughts on that when i wake tomorrow
too tired to brain tn
so cute đ
đ 2.68K đ 216
i love this clip so much
Sameee
?
Weâre you talking about me?
Yeah, i just havent replied yet because ive been waking up still lol
Oh ok my b
You replied to me so i assumed you wanted me to reply lol
I was just confused, lol
ah
that is, if you do want me to go on about my thoughts? Or if you dont feel like discussing this film further lol. Just checking!
You can if you want, lol
Iâm open for debate
At this point I think it is clear heâs been weakened enough for this to happen. Heâs still got strength clearly but the ton of metal falling onto him was the straw that broke the camelâs back, and made him immobile just long enough for the sign to fall, making him fall as well. He doesnât die from the fall itself, but the heavy-ass sign letter definitely does him in. He isnât invincible.
Also, Cassie realizes that what she heard way back in the beginning - Juliaâs scream - and also heard in her visions minutes earlier, has to happen for her to win against Ezekiel. So everything she does leads up to that, even when the helicopter plan goes a bit awry; sheâs still working towards the ultimate end goal that was foreshadowed early on. She needed to be up there on the sign when it collapsed to get Ezekiel trapped there enough to make him fall and get killed. Getting hit by the ambulance clearly does affect his stamina by a bit, as do other hits he takes throughout. Its a slow burner of a plan, but sheâs able to weaken him enough to the point that he can be pinned by the metal.
Its also worth noting that while Ezekiel clearly has strength, he doesnât seem to have the high level of it that spiderman does; we donât see him throwing heavy things; he mostly is fighting, crawling on walls/ceilings, and has his poison. So from that we can look at not just the amount of heavy metal that landed atop of him, and the force with which it did, he wouldnât have been able to shove it off. So it makes sense that Cassie was able to kill him in this way, by spotting the Achillesâ Heel and making use of her environment and future sight to overcome the obstacles that his powers present.
Also taking into account the filmâs commentary on toxic masculinity, and it being about these girls going up against it - a both literal and figurative âtoxicâ man - this works thematically. His toxicity is rendered harmless. Compare him to Ben in the film, who is a contrast to Ezekiel in a lot of ways, and also shows positive masculinity that isnât harmful. Ezekiel wants to kill the three girls just to keep his own life, and the song âToxicâ playing in the diner scene, while also adding to the fun of that scene, adds to this theme as well. Ben, on the other hand, is caring and genuine, and tries to protect the girls - and Mary - as much as he is able to. Ezekielâs death thematically represents the slow progress of gender equality in its fight against toxicity. The preparation, planning, foresight and decision-making needed to take him down takes considerable time and effort from all four of the leading ladies, who also receive help from Ben, who as I said before, is thematically a counterpart and contrast to Ezekiel. Theyâre fighting for their lives in a literal sense, but also fighting against and taking down a significant toxicity and burden in their lives. The film obviously doesnât use this to say that by removing the toxicity from your life, sexism and gender inequality are solved.
Rather, it is saying how important such progress is, and its an uplifting message to everyone that they can fight and win against toxicity and can control their fate - as Cassie does through the film - and should fight for their rights. With the proper, planning and guidance, the film says that change like this can be powerful and remarkable, as well as imploring the viewers(especially young girls) to take aim against toxicity in their lives, and also that while you do need to be careful about it depending on the situation - such as how Julia, Anya and Mattie needed to be careful about not being seen - it is okay to be helped along and out of a toxic situation, and you should reach out for help, like how the girls eventually implore Cassie to help them. The film also does use the diner scene to warn against being overly impulsive, and rather you should think your situations over, as Cassie does, to ensure a better outcome. You will need to make decisions on the fly sometimes, like she does, but overall it is important to think things through before speaking and acting.
Its strongly thematically implied to be a message about going up against toxic masculinity, and I think its inspiring for young women especially in that regard. However, it is also clearly about toxicity in general, and has that as an undercurrent.
You're good at this, Izzy
Thanks <3
i broke the discord character limit if youre wondering why the message spacing is slightly off lol
broke it twice
Give me a sec
You wrote slot
And I got a lot to say.
I'm be honest this is alot of mental gymnastys to explain something that is clearly a plot hole. You're argument is based on nothing that was made clear throughout the course of this film. What weakened him? The simple use of his powers?
Where was this estalished?
The film made never the attempted to make it clear that he was either being strained or over using his powers, especially when pulls of feats that would require more strenght and for longer periods of time.
And BTW, just because a character's strenght is depleted doesn't have anything to do with the amount of punishment they can endure. The man has enough resistants to block a firework that blows through a brick wall. The level of fire power required for that rocket to do that implies a level of endurance that is instantly negated in the next scene.
Again, the ability to deal punnishment, and take it, are two different things. It I'm strong enough to punch a brick wall without breaking skin, then my skin must be very durable. My stamina has nothing to do with that.
Sorry, but what does this have to do with the quality of the films script?
I don't care what message the film is trying to champion. If the writting is down the toliet, and the charatcers are unlikable and bland, it frankly doesn't matter.
I'm not gonna give a film the pass simply because it deals with a certain topic or has a take I may agreement. It's the execution of said topic that has me concerned.
One sec, gotta walk to class.
Will reply later, gonna be in Oppenheimer and talking to coworkers
i wont forget this time dont worry
Itâs cool lol
I love debating like this its fun, thanks for engaging with me lol
Lol, np
But tbh I'd also like to challege the idea of this being a feminist movie. Because honestly, any persosn that has an inkling of who these characters are in terms of there comic book counter parts would laugh at the shell of what Madame Web does with them.
This is Julia Carpenter
She can kick ass, take names, defend herself, doesn't take shit from anyone.
Verse this, which is just the laughing stock of what she is.
A generic shy girl, who does nothing and needs to be saved through out the entire film.
And gets smacked aside like she's nothing.
All she get's is a vision, that isn't even accurate because he gets killed by a sign and Cassie has to save her from falling.
Same goes for the rest of them. All 3 of them
Again, I understand this is a "origin story" and it's trying to be "more grounded" but how is supplementing these characters with these bland arcutypes that do nothing, an improvement or equal to what we got here?
They're basicly just mcGuffins who make stupid decisions .There unintresting, boring, forgettable characters, who ammount to the sterotypically shalllow label this film gives them and does not intent to flesh out at any point in time.
They do less then Mary Jane does in any Spiderman comic book, because at least she researches shit, at least she gets intel on villains. Just because they're children doesn't mean they have to be writting like a bunch of dumbassses with no likablility, espcially if you want me to care if they die or not.
You wanna know an example of a character who's a kid, doesn't suit up till the climax, isn't a dumb ass but still makes mistakes that don't feel forced or contrived so the plot can move forward?
It's the same company too and the same IP, so I don't want to hear "I can't make comparisons."
But, if you want me to scale down and pick something that isn't 100% a masterpiece.
Hell, let me pick one that falls into the same type of plot.
Even Cassie, is dumb as shit.
She leaves a bunch of fucking kids, in the middle of no where, with no food. I can't think of any rational adult that would leave a bunch of kids who don't know her. Why doesn't she go to the police? Multiple officers both witness and we're injured in the tunnel scene, why would they think she's lying?
There's a fucking guy on the ceiling, that all the girls she's "kidnapping" also witnessed, why does she not at least try to explain she believed that they we're in danger and hand them to the police? She keeps harping on the fact, throughout the entire film, that she does not want to be a part of what's going on, yet she makes no effort to get herself out of a situation that she is actively being incriminated in.
At the very most she would be taken into custody, mutable officers and the girls would testify, not the mention the film says that there is a network of cameras everywhere that would at the very least capture strange anomaly's and fast movements on the grainy early 2000s footage, and once again mutable cops are injured being flung into the walls leaving dents where they land. The whole argument of "they won't believe her" the writers want to use falls apart when they consider how unstealth like Ezekeal's approach.
She also, thinks it's a grand idea to steal a cab car, something that is company owned and would quickly be reported as missing and can be identified by the cab's unit numbers written on the side (and its license plate, which again she would've gotten pulled over for removing)
EVEN IF, she thinks, âwell I'm trying to keep them safeâ what makes her think the middle of the fucking woods is safer than a reinforced police department?
It literally show's her leaving the country because somehow,
she has access to a plane (which is another plot hole, but whatever) and again, for some fucking reason she leaves them at Ben's house ENDANGERING HIM, and his pregnant wife, instead of taking the girls with her. Again, if the whole point is to protect these kids, and we aren't really worried about at the legallity of our actions (stealing a cab, ramming a taxi into a dinner) why not move them out the country, where the Eziekeles CCTV cams can't pick them up.
Like this film only works if you have disregard logic or even the logic the film presents to you.
It's same goes for Ezikiel's powers, and all the other weird ass shit surrounding it.
This is just the plot, I'm not even going into the characters themselves.
Sorry, I hate this film. This is one of the worst super hero movies I've persoanlly seen.
Iâm still confused she was able to leave the country even though sheâs wanted for kidnapping lol such dumb writing.
SHHHHH
Don't think about it
Because I'm sure you could just walk into an airport, with an active warrant for kidnapping
ESCPAILLY FOR KIDNAPPING
Fucking stupid
Even when you follow the world of this films logic, it's inconsistent
This shit isn't grounded, it just lacks the comic book fun of its genre and call's itself subversive for doing so.
Especially since this was two years post-9/11
THATS ANOTHE THING
Why does this take place in the 2000s?
What's the fucking point, it does nothing with it
All they do is give the characters some 2000's esc clothing and that's it.
Ntohing about this feels like it takes place in that era.
Might as well have been an alternate universe where PP is born in the 2020s
Espcially since you want the villian to have access to a CCTV networth advanced enough to work on one computer for cameras throughout the entire city.
It's dumb as fuck.
Hell YOU COULD MAKE THAT PART OF THE STORY
Like you're telling me this medic, isn't effected by 9/11
Maybe that event played some role in the story right?
Especially because it's, you know, set in New York
and I could work with the theme of fate, if we know these kind of things are going to happen, can we stop them?
I really wanna read what you wrote, but it's huge, could you sum it up?
I mean....
we want madame web 2

You fr?
You liked this shit?
Damn
Welp sorry to say but, hell no
Fuck no
Never gonna happen.
i didnt take it so seriously so it was just an entertaining watch for me
all the plotholes were amusing to see

I can see that yeah
i went in with bottom level expectations and still managed to get disappointed
pretty incredible to achieve that

I just read the comments to this point.
||If you havenât seen dune 2 with your girl?, donât⊠Iâm not saying donât watch it. Just donât watch it with your girl. Itâs a movie you want to see with your boys, and talk sh11 about it after. Thatâs how good it is.
[My second comment is from another comment you posted]
You could watch madame web with your girl. Though, the movie is not what you might think? (No cameo) lol||
Your choice đ€·
Not what you might think. Still watchable. Just donât think too much about it.
Madame Web was boring af, should not even be mention on the same sentence as Dune 2, that was so enterteining for me.
Me too. Iâm just lazy right now, I didnât feel like commenting him twice. I just commented him with one sentence lol

Bad writing, bad acting from bad chemistry, hell bad sound design/ADR, all of these things could be the reason or all of them lol
đ
Very Conan OâBrian response lol
I still love this film
Gotta rewatch again
Marketing really did only have the one picture to work with lol
I do not envy whoever was on the Madame Web marketing team
Because I am familiar with the work of the company who made the trailer and they are genuinely very talented people who deserve far better than that
@unkempt fog Sooo im curiouss
Firstly, What was your favourite scene?
Mine is probably the metro(subway) scene or the diner scene!
And also, favourite performance?
I like the scene where ezekiel sims is talking with his like chairwoman and the words aren't matching his lips
Favorite performance goes to Adam Scott he's genuinely good in this one
Loll
Honestly the ADR can be quite funny
Its the only points i really took off of this movie lol
Love this to bits
I was at a friend's party the other week and she had this on and every once in a while some insane shit would happen and people would look up

Unironically. As in it's one of the most entertaining movies of the year. Whether that's intentional or not is still left for debate
Like, not as so bad itâs good, but genuine.
No itâs delicious garbage lol
I do love it
At the least this film wonât be an active detriment to the casts careers going forward. Though it does more expose just how weak a performer Dakota is
SJ Clarkson and these writers shouldnât work ever again
Stick to small indie shit, donât handle major IPS.
Oh I want SJ Clarkson to pump out these masterpieces as many as they could
Or at the least donât jump onto franchise ips that saw not one iota of care/interest from the writers/studio when developing it
Ive seen way worse thinfs released in 2024
According to my rank I seen 3 worse films released in 2024
lol
Rank has 64 films atm
ive seen 16 worse things than this
Russel Crowe talks about Dakota Johnson comments about âMADAME WEB:â
âYou're telling me you signed up for a Marvel movie, and some f-cking universe for cartoon characters... and you didn't get enough pathos? If you're expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, I just think you're here for the wrong reasons.â

I mean, he's not wrong
100 % right
but is nice to see him not giving a fuck and just saying what he thinks
lol
Surely at this point all involved with Madame Web can be more straight up about how the paycheque was really the only thing appealing lol
chat I havenât seen the movie but idc about spoilers
is this worth watching purely to laugh at it
I feel like itâll either make me laugh
or itâll depress me
oh yeah, watch it to laugh at it
because itâs a terrible comic book movie thatâs irreversibly ruined the reputation of a comic character
so while it would be funnyâŠ.
đ
it would also be really sad
seeing the industry I love (comics) be taken advantage of like this and bastardised so thoroughly
another casualty
so much brainrot
itâs like watching your child be bullied at school
like man
but on the other hand teehee haha funny bad movie
I hate having to constantly go around convincing people that comics and their adaptations arenât valid, meaningless corporate pieces of shitty media with no substance
itâs depressing
it's a business
as someone that actually reads those comics daily
and cares about them
man
like I said
itâs like watching your child getting bullied
well, I can't help you there
Its not the worst thing in the world
I personally enjoyed it but I rarely read comics so I donât think my opinion is valid.
Itâs not just comic book movies. Movies in general are victims of corporate greed and I agree itâs depressing.
Not reading comics doesnât make your opinion of a film less valid lol
I mean if the movie is my only knowledge it kinda does. I donât mean literally that my opinion is invalid but my reasons for liking the movie still could be less reliable if I am not familiar with the source material.
Nah
films are their own thing lol even when they use comic storylines
I dont read comics whatsoever
well, western comics anyway
yeah you donât HAVE to read comics to enjoy a comic book movie
I just typically consider the comics the better version of whatever the movies are adapting
because of the sheer depth the comic versions of these characters have by comparison
the style they have being way more interesting and appealing (at least to me) in most cases
thereâs some exceptions though
like for example I think netflix Daredevil, despite some annoying stuff here and there, is a pretty spot on adaptation
sure it doesnât have the same depth the comics do but
itâs pretty faithful
Its not a 1/10 its a 4 imo ppl overhate it
Amd ive seen worse things this year
always a good endorsement âïž
