The real intrigue is why
What causes a man to turn to this shit and why does he keep going
Cause āHe does love that moneyā
Deconstruction is not justification
Yeah exactly, thatās one of the reasons
This^
^^^^
And tbh Scorsese was the perfect guy for this
Heās good at making films about people who have shit morals
And still making them watchable
RIP Robbie Robertson. Did a fantastic job on the soundtrack.
I feel like it couldāve been a bit more Native American inspired but it was good nonetheless
Robbie Robertson is Native from his mother's side of the family
Well Iām gonna pretend I never said that then
This is so cute idk
She gonna win an Oscar FR
Absolutely. This isn't like Blackklansman or Inglorious Bastard where the villains were simplified to get the messages across
In Scorsese' movies, his morally bad characters are not like that. They are people, and they exists in irl
thats the even sadder part is its āexistsā nit āexistedā
Yup. Otherwise, we would be living in different world if people don't follow fascist ideas and tragedies happened
He makes you believe that Leo is still going to end up reuniting with his wife and the whole poisoning thing will be forgotten and then boom
She was great
And having 3-dimensional characters is much more entertaining
my main theory going intk the film ngl was ||ernest would end up shooting Mollie|| but i was damn wrong
at the end i mean
He had no guts, he lost them during WW I
I did some research before the movie, so I kinda knew what would happen
oh wow yeah
Oh woah
Imagine this dude spanking you like he does to Henry
That movie where DeNiro spanked Leo
Guy on the left is the real Blackie Thompson. Quite accurate I must say
Guy on the left is the real Blackie Thompson. Quite accurate I must say
indeed
This right here is the real Mollie, Gladstone's portrayal was accurate
Two very enlightening pieces on KOTFM from Osage writers.
Robinsonās review for Slate: https://slate.com/culture/2023/10/killers-of-the-flower-moon-movie-osage-martin-scorsese.html
Robert Warriorās essay for New Lines Magazine:
The latter's criticism are much well thought out than that twitter thread
I agree with you
The film does remark that the US Goverment only allowed an investigation after a 20000$ donation

Crazy stuff
i almost watch this yesterday in theater but i could not make it and the last showing was 21:00, so i guess it have to be the weekend if i wanna catch something more late...
I'm like the last person who saw this but it was a little disappointing ngl
My ā ā ā review of Killers of the Flower Moon on Letterboxd https://boxd.it/53xKn9
Killers of the flower moon feels like a unending current set in motion by some of Scorsese's recent works. The narrative adheres to the classic Scorsese formula - the rise and fall of a morally bankrupt protagonist. Except this time, Scorsese delves into a much more serious topic. This sparks an inevitable jarring juxtaposition between his flamb...
How would you rate this movie?
8,5/10
Due to unforeseen unfortunate reasons I'll have to viddy kotfm on Saturday instead of friday
4.8/5
5/5
5/5
5/5
The right score
4/5
6/10
4/5 for me easy on first watch.. may go higher later.
Cinema
The lord joins us
Loved his 5 star review of Avengers Endgame
Are we getting a Marty epilogue cameo in the next avengers?
He should be the new Kang and method act on destorying all superheros
Method acting by actually beating up the actors playing those superheroes, starting with Ezra Miller
Reaching that
Nice
Killers of the flower moon has now made 55 million worldwide
thatās nothing
I doubt it
For a Scorsese movie thatās decent wdym
Killers of the flower moon cost nearly 200 million dollars and so that amount isn't a lot but I think for Apple TV it is more than just money and they financed that to help their streaming service as the movie is gonna be on there soon.
But as a Scorsese film itās not bad
The Irishman made only 8 million dollars but that was a very limited release. . So compared to that it is quite good and I think it may touch 100 million dollars, again it is a loss though
Itās not a horrible run though for now
It is not horrible yes but I mean compare this to Oppenheimer, granted it is two totally different movies and Scorsese ain't Nolan.
Itās probably gonna make more money on the weekends
Let's see.
Crazy how Dinero's character ||saw the Tusla massacre and got inspired||.
Someone's being bold
Marty would be proud
Uncle Marty could never direct FNAF
Roberto Dinero

š¤
I mean add marketing costs and the film probably needs to gross over 400 mill just to break even
Iām talking about for a Scorsese film cuz his movies donāt make a lot of money
Paramount and Apple Original Films have been contacting theaters that violated their contracts by inserting intermissions into Martin Scorsese's āKillers of the Flower Moon,ā according to an individual with knowledge of the situation.
The Lyric, a theater in Fort Collins, Colo., showed the historical drama with an intermission until they got in...
This is ridiculous
my near theater also doing intermission 𤫠dont tell Paramount and Apple lol
lmao
they need to ask themselves why they spent $200M on this when opp was $100M
unacceptable
Tim Cook doesnt care but still
I think it is for branding reasons mainly and Scorsese actually hasn't been able to find traditional studios to fund his movie lately.. like Netflix financed Irish man and Apple financed KOTFM
Marty even ask Marky Mark money for Irishman that is the how cinema is nowadays lmao
Neither Uncle Marty nor Apple care about losing money anyways
This movie is making some money at least
Why do people call him uncle Marty?
False
āI do love that moneyā
Killers of the Flower Moon
https://boxd.it/54ejjl Pretty sure I liked it.
@ripe plover Look look look, I liked it.
liked means 4.5> šµāš«šµāš«šµāš«š š
I'm sorry š
Thank you
You weren't wrong with the patience thing
I wanted the film to just be done my 170 minutes but I realised there was still 30 minutes left.
yep
I was fine with the runtime
I thought it was perfect
It honestly reeled me back in with that radio broadcast
Was so fun and unique
With how they did the sound effects and energetic hosts
Also birds eye view shots are cool
Absolutely
Good movie
Yeah :D
Thatās a great scene, it was just used in the wrong movie
How tho?
I think it was so cool
also I saw Scorsese on it
so
yeah
omg you seen it with your parents š®
I did too. With my mum
Aiye cool
Oh nice
This is also now my 5th longest film that I've seen and the longest film as a whole that I've seen in cinemas, beating Avatar 2.
It's just an old inside joke I have with a few friends
yeah and he has duped both
would you agree or do you think theyālll get their money back on streaming
do you guys and girls think
napoeleon will flop like kotfm
yeah okay see napoleon trailer aside looked bigger in scale than kotfm in every way but was only $130M
how much were de niro and leonardo paid for this
A lot, probably
De Niro needs a lot of money to pay for his divorce settlements
I don't think they will get their money back and I believe Apple financed this project for more than just money.. it is to help their streaming service. Apple already has enough money.
When will The Killers of Flower Moon get global release in Apple TV+?!
My most anticipated of 2023
And i have no problem with spoilers since i read the non fiction book this film is based on by David Grann right when it released in 2017.
Just as harrowing read as Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee
Either at the end of this year or early next
Itās hard to pick with Scorsese
Aah thats not far off. Although i feel really bad like why India can't screen kino films like this with limited screenings...š„²(except for maybe obscure small run film festival screenings, they don't really screen it).
Definitely to blame goddamn commercial fuckin cliche local films that takes reign here.
šš¼
This was the first time I've ever witnessed in any theatre where people clapped when it displayed the "directed by" title
Most clapped when after the title card "directed by Martin Scorsese" card came
Also de Niro spanking Leo 4 times was cinema
Aahh I'm excited to see that scene, that bit was just as good in Granns book too.
Looks like Scorsese now has made his own I drink your Milkshake scene
Another fantastic Scorsese movie
ok you caught me
Not really, Wolf of Wall Street made 392 mill, The Departed made 294, Shutter Island 290, Hugo 185
Still not bad though
Somewhat underwhelming
But Marty doesnt really care about money so its alright
He'll still get to keep making films as long as he can
Hugo bombed
Budget was 150 million
Rip lol
Howwww
Bro this movie is a fucking MASTAPEECE
Hi Aemond White
yesss
Letās go maybe this movie might be profitable itās already almost at 100 million
Id like if it was but im doubting it ngl
Its in its second week, so showing sizes will dip
And it needs to break 500 mil$
Not bad for Scorsese though
It is for his mainstream stuff
Wdym?
GUYSS IMMA WATCH IT TOMORROW, It was released here in India on Friday so yeahhh. How was it??
@cursive barn it was fucking amazing
It was fantastic another good Scorsese movie
Whyās the budget for this movie so huge? Leo and Bobby couldnāt have costed that much
The sets look pretty expensive though
Looks incredible too
Leo the entire movie: ā¹ļø
me the entire movie: šš¤©š¢š¢š¢š¢š¢š¢š¬š¬šµš¤£š„¹š
Me the entire movie: āFuck this is darkā
Itās so sad that itās based on a true story
Makes it just the more raw
Yeah
Itās a really good movie but itās a sad story
I like how you can see Ernest get progressively eviler as the movie goes on, I feel like if it weren't for his uncle he would've been a much better and happier person
True, but I donāt know how the real person really was. It takes a while to realize how much of bad person he is.
I think he was just very gullible and his uncle was a corrupting influence on him
From the New Yorker interview by Richard Brody
I like how the title came to be
the moon as the feminine side of Jesus
the movie is pretty feminine
The entire movie was about De Niro and leo making grumpy faces at each other
Cinema if you ask me
The radio show at the end was so fun, it's basically like a proto-true crime podcast
Curious what people's thoughts on the excerpt from the New Yorker interview
peak
yeah I dug that part
so unexpected
For real
for real!
This is such a good movie
Jfc
I wasnāt really a fan of the ending either, but it didnāt hurt the movie.
I liked the radio ending more than the actual ending XD
The ending is a really nice bow tie imo
the original ending was mollie asking Leo about the insulin
he says ānothing was in the front insulinā
She leaves
And then it cuts to the radio show ending
I personally thought the radio show was really fun
So yeh- just came out KOTFM- this was phenomenal ( I cba to write this out again but my first thoughts coming out ^)
Give Lily Gladstone her Oscar- thank you
Beautiful stunning film
Good film
Based
She is the most notable actor tbh
The 70s were a wild time
All due to Francesca
Lol, I remember back in middle school seeing my friend watching this and thinking wait wtf, is her dad who I think he is-
I follow Francesca on Instagram and I am massively jealous of her
This movie was good but personally ass
I just realized William Holden looks a lot like the real-life Ernest Burkhart and he should have played him instead of Leo DiCaprio
Too bad he's dead though
He definitely would be. Tbf when i read Granns book when it released in 2017, my ideal casting I'll always base on both tailor made look according to the real people and also acting prowess.
I never thought of Leo as Burkhart, even De Niro too(although ik in terms of acting prowess De Niro be formidable as always & gives his all)
Not sure about that one
Is this hinting at Oppenheimer. Cause thatās dumb lol
Guess who I'm impersonating ā¹ļø
Where'd you get that gif
I have a friend who loves to use it and I thought he was the only one
We also call it the Oppenmouth
hehe is one of my faves also is on tenor when you search in the discord bar of gifs
š
If Lily Gladstone left an angry face emoji under my post I would simply launch myself into the sun
Whoever that social media person running the Paramount account definitely got fired five minutes after sending that reply
I told my friend about this and his only response was "the Oppenmouth is spreading"
it is. your friend is right.
Mando i am finally watching this on theater today
feels like i must be the last person who still have not seen it lmao
Youāre missing out
not anymore i am at theater atm
š¤©
I WILL NOT MISSED MARTY!
I REFUSE!!!!
im watching nooow Marty still as good as ever with the camera
Leo looks a bit like Marlon in the Godfather lol
what do you think i am doing rn lol
Texting
oh you one of those only can do one thing at a time dudes
I was kidding
oh ok lol
ngl Robert De Niro character is one of the most evil he ever did not even as a Mafia character he was this evil
William Hale's gotta be one of the most evil people to be ever live but he was actually a little bit worse in real life
There's speculation that Anna was pregnant with his child when he decided to kill her
Dawg
that mf... i am also hating Ernest so far... still a lot of the movie left but i tell ya i was already depressed before i sit down and started watching this movie and i am feeling like shit now... its more a tough watch that i thought š„²
Ernest is not a likeable character
Ernest is a piece of shit too
Ernest does get progressively more evil as the movie goes on, I think if he had a better role model than his uncle he'd be a much happier person
Maybe I'm expecting too much of him though
Ernest pisses me off because yes, he was being sorta manipulated by Hale but he KNEW exactly what he was doing
I am hating him so much cuz i hate an Evil mastermind but i hate even more the weak lackeys who followed them
i am still trying to decipher what is going on with Leo mouth in this film
š¦
he looks like this all the time
Ernest is just like a really stupid version of Jordan Belfort, isn't he
Well he did the right thing at the end by testifying against the uncle from hell but still what a dumbass, that took so long, its kinda confusing to me cuz Leo acts like he truly loves his wife but then he does all the opposite stuff
@reef halo did u finish the movie?
The stupidfication of Jordan Belfort
Yep, he's just as evil pos as Hale is when i read the book, I'm really intrigued to see Leo's take. Man i want it to drop in Apple TV+ already(since it doesn't have a theatrical release anywhere outside of US).
He's inherently a very selfish, self-interest to core pos like he always has been. But there is always a bit of conflict at times(which the novel indicated very well in some phrases).
I bet Scorsese is able to put it out on screen too.
Man I'm so excited for this
And also the ||spanking scene||(that scene is quite visceral in the novel when i first read itš¶)
Me when Mollie cries: š
When Ernest cries: Fuck you Ernest im glad youāre miserable
Lmfao! Felt the exact same when i read the novel.
I'm really really excited to see how Lily Gladstone did as Mollie!
She's very gripping in the teaser itself & the 2nd trailer(ik that scene when she wails at the stairs.. gosh can this film release in India already ffsš)
of course but i was not on discord cuz we went out after the movie to get some drinks came home really late and i fall asleep lol
good film, quite emotionally hard story tho.
This officially has more money than the exorcist movie
Only now???
In all seriousness thatās sad it just passed it. Still Iām sure itās way better than the Exorcist sequel movie.
If the exorcist remake did more money than KOTFM then cinema was indeed dead, glad i can still have a little more faith in humanity
Though, KOTFM of course has a slightly bigger budget than The Exorcist: Believer did
Maaaartyyy!!!!!!!

by the way why the live podcast ending tho?
that caught me off-guard in a Babylon kinda way if you know what i mean
good way, but i was confused for a second until i realized what was happening
That was so fun, I loved it
yes we just crossed the exorcist movie by 6 million
if by 'slightly bigger' you mean $170 million, then yeah š
obviously, exorcist movie was a bit of a disappointment
understatement, one of the worst films of all time
David Gordon Green should be ban by law of ever directing another horror film
He should do a musical
maybe he can play more creepy roles like in Bones & All lol
I will keep saying someone should stop him before he gets to destory more horror franchise
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is gonna be on his upcoming projects and he was about to direct the Suspiria remake before Luca took it
wait wait wait a second yet another shitty TCM... like the last remake was from the Alvarez team? not DGG? its gonna be ANOTHER ONE? pls tell no!

ircc he talked about wanting to do a new one since the OG is a huge influence for him
fair
wasnt a great exorcism ending
This is one of his best movies ever
@green eagle it made 138m worldwide so far
Then again itāll make more money during its apple run
It doesnāt make a lot of money on streaming
Will it make some though?
Very minimal
Streaming isnāt a āmoney per filmā thing
Revenue from subscriptions so films that make people subscribe or have a high watch time make it worthy
#stevenspielberg #martinscorcese #killersoftheflowermoon
Damn
Not even the budget is covered with this one š
@little basalt itās a streaming movie
Still had a decent theater run in terms of time and number of screens
Well itās still playing in theaters still
So itāll make a little bit more money
@little basalt it made 138m
From a 200 mil budget
Not taking into account maeketing
I mean, Marty doesnt really care and he will still be able to make movies
But its still sad when a great film bombs at the box office
Itās still in theaters
Yeah I mean
Apple dont care either
They know what theyāre getting into giving a film like this $200m
Apple also has a shit ton of money
$200 million is just a drop in the bucket for them
Well
Not quite
But itās more of an investment in brand so itās okay to lose a bit
This
Me and who
Yes
They've definitely kissed before
They did the dirty
Lmao
Lmaoo thatās a wild tweet. Especially as the direct quote was from the director of Scream about recent events. Thatās hilarious
wow did not knew that!
Just cancel it, the world doesnt need another Scream movie
Its already cancelled dw
š¬
i learn how to grind from king halešš„
Totally
Some of the scenes in this film were genuinely haunting
And Robert De Niro was really evil personified
yeah really and Ernest was so annoying everytime he call him: "King" i wanted to slap him
hit him on his š¦ mouth
De Niro was great as The Devil himself
Leo was great as idiotic Ernest and Lily was just amazing, incredible performance
Ernest was a spineless coward
Really diff role from Leo and he delivered
The way that guy kept administering shots to his wife even though he knew the harm. He would rather ingest the poison himself than stop giving it
he pissed me off so much ngl
even if De Niro character manipulated him so easily, still he just went with it like a dumbass
He really was. Honestly was not expecting that based on his character from the trailers. Though if you know the real story then you knew he would be like that.
The real life Burkhart went even far. He got out of jail, then robbed a relatives house, got jailed, got out and lived the rest of his life in a trailer park
Just saw this and wow it was amazing. I loved it a lot and I was very invested in it
MARTY
marty my beloved
fr
Just wait till you meet me
ok calm down Jack Nicholson
Lol
I loved it too
That scene where King is grilling Leo when he first comes is solid
"you like them red?" Lol
Congratulations to 2023 #ClioEntertainment Grand winner in Theatrical | Film: Teaser: āSheepā by @AVLASquad for Killers of the Flower Moon! š
The trailer for Killers of the Flower Moon plays on the predatory relationship between wolf and sheep, weaving the narrative hauntingly throughout the work.
Did not like it as much sadly While it was extremely well made in terms of production design , acting , scale everything I really thought the plot was ehh for the most part where i knew mostly what it was leading upto and nothing excited me throughout, the other thing is it was such a wide story and even with that long of a runtime it felt like rushing throughout to scooch in everything, itās one of the stories which i think could be much better as a series ⦠Scorsese obviously does a great job at sitting with characters but it still felt very summary like , also the end gimmick with the play felt out of place completely out of tone with the movie i wanted some character shots for that
Fair enough, even if i felt Scorsese still at the top of his abilities as director, i also felt the film was hurt with the choice of following the character of Ernest so much i would have like a lot more if the film was told from the perspective of Mollie
Best Picture is now on streaming https://fixupx.com/whentostream/status/1745626792537247881
oppeneheimers streaming now?
yes oppeneheimers streaming now
Sorry, Iām not 100% sure, is Oppenheimer streaming now?
Hell ye
Yeah itās pretty damn good
