I think it will
It was like half sold out when me and my dad saw it yesterday
@eager quiver
the numbrs don't support it
Universal Pictures has submitted āOPPENHEIMERā for:

I donāt get why movies with normal clothing get nominated for costume design
Itās the same case with La La Land and Little Women
Because anything actors wear is a costume
There is bias towards extravagant/period costumes in awards, but really anything that fits movie and characters should be considered award worthy
To be fair, those two examples apply more because one has extravagant Hollywood-style costumes and Little Women has those great classic period piece dresses
Same applies here, itās a period piece and The Academy love those types of costumes
We literally have millions of movies that take place in the 1860s
Itās nothing new
That doesnāt discount the point
Joker shouldāve won because it was different
By your own logic, it was just a suit so not that special
But we never saw that suit and makeup before
Weāve seen 1800s dresses millions of times but we never saw Joker wear a magenta red suit with different looking makeup before
It looked more classic and unique
As for this year Barbie should win because of how well all the different looking costumes looked
It doesnāt matter whether itās something we havenāt seen
Just if itās the best
That year Little Women won and it certainly had great costumes
Yeah but Joker looked like it took more effort to put together
Since it was different people had to take time designing it and scrapping old ideas
Same for Little Women and any other film
A lot more goes into costumes than one may think
To me anything that looks out of place if you wear it in public is considered a costume
Like people would definitely look at you if you wear Kenās skating outfit
Anything anyone wears is a costume
Whether that be a casual shirt and pants or an extravagant Barbie outfit
Though I agree that Barbie deserves it this year that doesnāt mean the others had any less effort or consideration
So if I just pull something on from my closet I should be nominated for an oscar?
Every costume has to be selected, thought about, created for every scene
Napoleon also looks like it has really good costumes
This movie will sweep the Oscars
Holy shit it made a lot of money all of a sudden
Somebody made a typo adjusting Italy's box office. Clearly it didn't make 270mln dollars out of nowhere
It might still hit a billion though cuz itās in imax 70mm for the rest of the week
@eager quiver how much did it make then
Still almost there
so close...
š©
Sev i heard Luca is no longer directing the Scarface remake any idea if the project is still on with a different director or if its not gonna be made most likely?
It'll likely maintain the level of dev hell it's been in since they first started kicking around a Scarface remake
It was a glitch
Womp womp
Christopher Nolan, Cilian Murphy and the crew behind 'Oppenheimer' deep dive into the practical effect techniques used to create the many incredible visuals behind the film, including the explosive sequence of the Trinity Test.

Obviously he traveled to a different universe and took their atom bomb to use so he wouldnāt upset the course of our universeās history
The film has leaked in HD
arrrr
a movie begging for the Linkin Park treatment
āļø Quoting Corey Atad (@CoreyAtad)
oh man, the Oppenheimer version of this is gonna be fucking amazing
Oh thats why I found it online lmao
For me it's the best scene, with Jason Clarke (Roger Robb) playing it very well.
Name one thing about it you didnāt like
keep in mind of course it is possible to dislike the film, but it's preferred if the reasons are put out there, as opposed to just saying overrated and those who like it just want to look smart
I thought it was discursive and didnāt have much new or interesting to say, save for some sequences
Yes that is what I said
@sage vault in the theater?
No
Itās a bad take bruh
You can dislike the film, but donāt diss people who enjoy it
No
its bait lol ignore it
Yeah, I see it now. This guys just trolling.
Heās so good in this movie
Loved how Blunt's character was able to get into his nerves
that is the most lazy, dumb criticism i ever heard... lmao...
a biopic about stuff that happened in the past dont have anything new to said lmao
Agreed
They definitely didn't go over the chaotic that program must be lol
Don't give that kid any attention lol
Clearly a troll
I saw this earlier and Iām at a loss for words to be honest š it was a phenomenal movie in my eyes. It was just so amazing and so beautiful to watch
Those are some fighting words brother

Thatās what Iām looking forward to most when I rewatch it at home
stunning
Albert. When I came to you with those calculations, we thought we might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world.
I remember it well, what of it?
I believe we did..
One of the greatest endings ever
One could argue we are in the most peaceful Era in human history due to nuclear detterent
indeed
I'm actually speechless....
GOD DAMN!! PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING!
Man. These shots of earth slowly being destroyed is still terrifying to me.
here it is
Finally IMAX format!!!
SUCH A GOOD FUCKING ENDING!!!
So, Westerns basically
Cilian Murphy better win that Oscar
How did you get that
the film is out
On streaming?
hmmm let me check
i might have been tripping
cuz i cant find where on google but i could swear someone was streaming it in another movie server i am in
so idk
maybe i was tripping ballz
I really gotta wait 10 more days?
No, it leaked
The film will be out on digital on November 21st and on Peacock some point in December or early next year
I hope theyāre fixing the movie. Idk if it was the theater but the sound mixing sucked
The dialogue kept getting muffled whenever music was playing
Really? Didn't feel like that for me.
Maybe itās my ears
Nonetheless itās better to watch it at home with a flatscreen because the living room is smaller than the theater so I can hear better
I suppose we're the opposite. I honestly treat my movie watching at home like if I was in a theater, turning off all lights in my room and playing the movie loud.
Yeah thatās what Iām gonna do
Yes now be patient
the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural
Just say you sailed the 7 seas
grabbing ALL the awards I can feel it
best lamp, best glasses, best hat, best flowers, best apple, best sheets..
His hair on his left ballsack should win best actor
Beautiful 1.43 IMAX trailer
pffffff
makes me really wanna rewatch this
rest assured Nolan, i will buy the blu-ray
Mando remembers when we both had the leaked Oppenheimer trailer. Good times
Fr
I hope he gets nominated too as well as RDJ
"evil streaming service" hehe love Nolan
lmfao they knew what they were doing
Fucking sorry about that
Was trying to tap to see attachment but it kept opening your profile then it looked like I started facetiming so apologies lol
youāre good
I really enjoyed Oppenheimer
I def saw how itās still kind of a propaganda film
But I enjoyed it nonetheless
I havenāt seen anyone put a movie in a disc player in years
What propaganda? That bombs are bad?
I use my Blu-ray player all the time
Thing is weāll never get a movie stolen from us but for games, we need to keep them physically owned
I hope physical games will last longer than physical films
Well, you can use discs on your consoles now
Ps5s can handle blu rays
But stores have been selling digital copies that donāt even have the disk
Which means we canāt own the games
i hate that shit
PCs are a different story though because my laptop doesnāt have a disk player unless I get an accessory

Itās apparently at 950m now
Itās getting a rerelease @rough crow during awards season and apparently during December
Realistically, there's no chance for it to hit 1bill

they always streaming movies here
Yes. The movie will be released to Digital Vendors for sale on 11/21 at midnight eastern. I have already pre-ordered it on Amazon Prime.
Is the opening scene on Youtube yet?
to the people who think that the sex scene was bad: what, in your opinion, is a good sex scene?
like gimme the example of a movie
Debbie does Dallas
genre: comedy/pornographic
š
need a non-pornographic film
if christopher nolan can make mistakes, so can we.
Fight Club
yes the narrator x tyler sex scene was peak porn
Fr
He did nothing wrong !!
@main turret ikr
i mean
i agree it was not his decision to make
but in the case you're not joking, he did have a part in it.
guys I was joking, he literally partook in future genocide creation
oh ok
Just rewatched the movie last night on TV
I like it better now but the visual scenes and ending felt more underwhelming than when I watched it for the first time
But the captions made the last fast paced part of the movie more watchable because I can actually comprehend the dialogue
Saw this for the first time at home. Didnāt know a lot about any of the subject matter so it did not feel like 3 hours to me. Very interesting and enjoyed a lot of the stylistic choices.
Some of the Albert Einstein appearances made me laugh out loud.
Why
He was the best character of the movie tbh
āYou can tell them to go to hellā
Badass
The way he starts off early on where heās framed a little like heās someone out of folklore and not a real human being. when he just appears behind the car driving away is when I laughed. I liked him in it but he felt different than the rest of the characters in the movie
The only thing I found funny was how obsessive Strauss was over him and had a fit because he didnāt look at him
"Dr. Oppenheimer, I'd like you to meet my son, Carl"
"So Carl, I hear you like the stars"
Movie is in fact better on the second watch.
David Hill and Edward Teller Testimony Scene
I just love Rami Malek rolling in just to completely and utterly torpedo Strauss's career
It was already great on first watch well at least for me.
oppenheimer memes are coming out now that it's streaming and i am here for them
Same dude
Carl Sagan?
Even watching it a second time the third act is still confusing asf compared to the rest of the movie because of the pacing alone
They shouldāve kept the slow pace for the third act so I could take everything in better
Love Carl Sagan. Watched all of his Cosmos television show as a kiddo.
Oppenheimer's "Can you hear the music" but animated in Minecraft!

Oppenheimer Behind the Scenes ā How Christopher Nolan and his team crafted one of the most visually stunning biopics, including a breakdown of the cinematography, practical effects, and non-linear structure.

StudioBinder Blog āŗāŗ http://bit.ly/sb-bl

Chapters:...
BULLSHIT
There are 45 people listed in IMDB visual effect credits for Oppenheimer. Anybody claiming the movir has no CGI is either delusional or lying
The bomb was practical bro
Then call it "how trinity was filmed without CGI" not how the whole movie was shot without CGI (and even if they used practical for the bomb scene it doesn't mean CGI wasn't used to later)
even if they did use CGI, it's undoubtedly good.
It's a good work done by professionals, why are we trying to cut them from getting credit for their impact?
also, visual effect isnt necessarily cgi?
You can make academically definitions that would separate the terms but it doesn't matter cause author of the video is not in the business of discussion but selling Kool-aid
i havent seen the video.
He explained how over 400 individual filmed elements were used to create the final explosion seen in the film.
āWe had some with really close-up detail of the burning explosion,ā said Jackson. āWe had a lot of material that we could layer up and build into something that had the appearance of something much bigger.ā
that's crazy over 400!
Want a hint.. Watch in 0.25X Speed, You're welcome.

@kind robin more of a chance for a billion dollars
50 million dollars is still a lot and the movie is already out on digital in Japan too, but let's see.
Itās always a possibility

Idk hope you fall down some stairs though
thats ok w me cuz im a masochist
Break your ankles bitch
Break em elbows
break those toe nails brother!
moans
Boom
@eager quiver what does that mean?
it means that 99% of people that wanted to watch it in cinema, already did it. 1bln dream is dead for 2023
Maybe when it returns to theaters itās gonna hit it
it already did
In 2024
even then it's gonna need great Japan release
It might who knows
Do Japan like Nolan?
All I know is that Japan do not like Oppenheimer
reasonable
good idea
Oppenheimer now passed 951 million letās go
This one
i wish tik-tok was banned here lol
yeah emma thomas aint a dumb nerdy bitch
tell your govt china is spying with tiktok
my govt could not care less
lmao
they be like... hmmm "how can we make profit with that?"
š

I am really intrigued by how much Oppenheimer makes in Japan but I assume a lot of Japanese may have already seen the movie in digital.
Why was it even banned in the first place? It didnāt even show the bombing
Wonder why the Pearl Harbor movie wasnāt banned in Hawaii or WTC banned in New York
because those movies sympathized with americans?
It wasn't officially banned in Japan, just delayed and one of the reasons I guess is the whole Barbenheimer phenomenon that a lot of Japanese didn't take it kindly. Also, I doubt many of them were fans of Oppenheimer character as well.
Well why would a movie want to sympathize with allies of Hitler?
Itās not like modern Japan is still the same as WW2 Japan
As for the innocent Japanese people that were killed, Oppenheimer did sympathize with them because he said he had blood on his hands
Though he actually saved millions of lives by sacrificing over a hundred thousand
which of them sympathized with the nazis lol
I've only seen Pearl harbour
that wasnt anti american
that may be true but no matter how you look at it, he still has to be blamed.
Iām saying that for the Japanese soldiers in the axis alliance, they were called the enemy so of course Hollywood would be against them
oh
Truman said they wonāt give a shit who built the bomb just the one that dropped it
what he said is unfortunately not true
i consider myself an average person
and i knew about oppenheimer and the bombings
tho not the details, i knew that oppenheimer was the one who built the bomb that killed hundreds of thousands
i didnt know who truman was until the end of Oppenheimer.
(im not a US citizen nor a Japanese)
Didnāt Oppenheimer build the bomb to fight the nazis?
He had no control over it when it got finished
When will we get the next christopher nolan movie?
I donāt think heās even announced a follow up yet
Either heās waiting to square away Oppenheimer completely (for awards season and itās Japan release), or heās still writing it
We need a spinoff with Truman and Einstein
haters will say itās fake
Hi guys does anyone here know if this exists or not ty https://fixupx.com/thediscfather/status/1709628968285163632?s=46
So i watched it again but i'm still not clear on everything discussed during the hearing before the ending?
He was proven to not be a communist but his security clearance was rejected
I still donāt know what the whole fiasco with Boris and Strauss was about
Ok
||Strauss was a petty bitch and wanted to get back at Oppenheimer for humiliating him.||
So the whole hour was about him going āwahh he made fun of me!ā?
Why did he even think hill would support him
Boris hated everybody thought everybody was a commie
Dude only went back to Russia to fight the bolsheviks
Based
Staruss wanted tl use him to discredit oppie
I am certain that if Strauss didn't approach Boris he would have taken Strauss as a commie too
I donāt see why Oppenheimer would be discredited
you didnt need to be a commie back then to be discredited
u would just get it
because
somebody just pointed fingers
ppl hated communist sympathizers more than actual war criminals lol
Because they were scared that they will attack America or some shit
good thing now they only have to deal with 80k uni tuition and 100k hospital bills
A main reason why Strauss opposed Oppenheimer and he was supported in that from the establishment at that time was Oppenheimer refused to back development of hydrogen bombs and so they needed to get him out of the way and discredit him.. they did that by taking away his security clearance and after that he was a broken man and he never spoke about US nuclear policy
What did he do after the movie events
Well he wasn't involved in any Govt activities after that, so maybe just personal stuff. He did give interviews and stuff.
Nazi and Japanese were temporary enemies while the communist were considered to be the long term enemy at the time
Even though they were allies
Temporary allies
I read about that in a book callrd "the evolution of nuclear strategy "
As of December 17, 2023, Oppenheimer has grossed $326.1 million in the United States and Canada and $628.3 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $954.3 million.[3][4] It is the second-highest-grossing R-rated film of all-time, behind Joker (2019).[147][148] In September 2023, Oppenheimer became the highest-grossing biographical film of all time, surpassing Bohemian Rhapsody (2018).[149][150] imdb says 951m but wiki says this whos right?
i beilve its real
Where
Idk
How does jacob even fit in a car
now Oppenheimer can finally have an affair with strauss
She was born in 1997

BarbOPPENheimen
Actually, 3rd
Not only is this the highest grossing WWII movie, it's also the highest grossing Cold War movie (now I could be wrong though)
2 hours in....I'm enjoying it alot...the dialogue and the pacing reminds me of Valkyrie
Itās so good
The first 2 hours were the best parts
I forgot how good they were after finishing the movie in my first watch
I really enjoyed Robert Downey's performance... especially at the end when his true colours came out..
And Oppenheimer's grilling by that closed interrogation was fire...
Plus the conversation he had with Einstein foreshadowing the eventual events that's would happen was sooo cool
Really better than Flower Moon?
Itās gonna be actually able to stream soon
we got tickets for the 21Savage movie yet ??
they paid for it, so yes. Jan 12th

How is it the most misunderstood?
I guess the video will tell lol
What about Inception? I thought that would be the most misunderstood
Fun fact, I got an advanced screening to Oppenheimer about a week before it came out, but the critics and more important people got the good seats, so I had to sit in the front row
That's just Feyd Rautha on a casual tuesday
Wildly disagree with him here.
I don't understand why we're still arguing having a lens on Japan.
On the victims.
On the bomb actually dropping.
It's Oppenheimer, adapted from the fucking Oppenheimer book.
Not Nagasaki.
Not Hiroshima.
It's such a tired criticism.
Oppenheimer not once went to see the aftermath, some of his colleagues did.
People's obsession with destruction porn or general visual horror is intriguing.
His point of no fourth wall breaks a la Scorcese is always extremely unfounded.
That's simply his style and doesn't denote a "rigidity" on his filmmaking.
Also"
I will agree here.
Inception underlying philosophical themes and general subtext seem to have missed audiences.
And I don't see as much a call for a "reappraisal" on it like some of his other works.
Which is fine, but I firmly believe Inception is top three Nolan.
