#How do I properly pitch a film to a production company?

By making stuff.
You can't skip the hard steps to get to the "how do i pitch movie to wb" part.
If you're starting out, you don't call - they'll call you. Plus most studios/producers aren't allowed to accept unsolicited screenplays due to liability concerns.
So you're better off making your own short films to start off and build a portfolio.
...I mean after I build my portfolio. I mean when they're authorized to look over a script as I pitch it to them.
I mean when the scripts are actually solicited. Then what?
Have you written anything yet?
I'm about to, but that's not the point. I'm just thinking ahead so that I have an idea of what to expect and what not to.
So why worry?
If you're nowhere near that step yet, why worry?
It's very cart-before-the-horse.
I'm not trying to be rude or crush your dreams or anything but if you have nothing written yet, then it's something that shouldn't be on your mind.
You're not going to get it on the doorstep of Mr W. Arner Bro
You should be focused on developing your own projects so you can get a portfolio built up and hopefully an agent at some point who'll handle all of the crude work.
It's not something that's easily quantifiable or easy to explain.
If you don't have an answer for my question, you know you don't have to be afraid just to say so, right?
Excuse me?
Change your tone with me, please.
I have an answer: write a script
make stuff
I'm not at all trying to be rude here so I'm not sure why you're getting defensive beyond 'i'm new and it's not the answer i want to hear' and I get that - I really do.
I know you're working hard to get to a point where you can develop your Linkin Park movie, like you told me before.
But you're in the early stages of working on a portfolio, developing short film projects, and getting a name built up. Hopefully in doing so, you will develop a network of people who'll help elevate each other and boost each other. Maybe you'll find out that your buddy's cousin's nephew is actually someone who works at Big Pictures Studios and you get the chance to pitch your script. Who knows, right?
I'm not here to crush dreams. But I am also trying to smooth out any anxieties you may have about putting your work out there because I, too, wanna dream big - but it's all about what's now.
@cursive sapphire
You seem like a good lad. I know it's easy to get defensive over answers you didn't want to hear, but them's the works.
Actually is it cool if we talk privately?
Not really. I don't really take DMs from people I don't know.
