Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: To track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan's past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a myst...

im very hyped ngl, im a sucker for insane stunts.

#

i just hope they also kinda make me at least half invested in the plot.

This’ll be now two movies that end on a cliffhanger that I have seen this year at the cinema

At least we’re getting dune 2 to end that one 😩

I'm not sure if spoilers are actually allowed at this time, but when I watched this a week ago ||I was pretty disappointed that Ilsa died||

#

||Though I think it was most likely because of Rebecca Ferguson's scheduling conflicts||

low hamlet
#

It was not as good as Fallout

#

I liked a lot of it tho

#

I haven’t seen the movie but I hope they pull it off with these two new movies

left yew
#

I did love the reveal of Ethan's backstory though, it seems like his history of having young women killed in front of him to break his spirit began a long time ago

spare raft
#

Knowing Ilsa Faust ||she might fake it I’ll share my thoughts when I see the movie||

left yew
#

I will say that I will be mad if Ethan and Grace get together in Part Two

#

They have a really cute platonic relationship but I really hope it doesn't turn romantic

spare raft
#

I think everyone wanted ilsa and Eathan to be in a relationship

left yew
#

I know some Ethan/Ilsa shippers who are probably not gonna be happy about ||her death||

spare raft
#

How did you see it early

left yew
#

My dad got free tickets to an early screening so I saw it with a friend

#

I think that Marie was his first girlfriend, maybe a partner-in-crime of sorts

#

Given that Ethan was in jail I wouldn't be surprised if he was some petty crook pre-IMF

spare raft
#

Is there an end credit scene

left yew
spare raft
#

Thx

left yew
#

My theory is that Marie got mixed up with the wrong people and Gabriel killed her in front of Ethan as a warning

#

And also to break his spirit because that's a proud tradition of the franchise

#

The Entity was a pretty bonkers MacGuffin ngl

#

I think the Entity definitely was behind that bomb

#

Given the team's last adventure with nuclear bomb disposal it definitely chose that just to taunt him

#

That would be fun

#

I liked how Ethan shows a lot of his inner goodness to people he barely knew in this one

#

Reassuring the young courier that he made the right choice to join the IMF, asking Grace if she's okay after her car gets wrecked, showing kindness to Paris before she dies

#

And I also did like how Ilsa sacrificed her life to save someone who was practically a stranger to her even though she didn't have to

left yew
#

Maybe the first half was a down payment

#

Like, "I've already gotten the first half, just wait for me to get the second"

#

I think with a bit of manuevering he would've gotten the key even if Alanna sold it to Kitteridge

#

Two hours and forty-five minutes I think

#

I'm not sure

quiet orbit
#

fandango puts it at 2:43

9 minutes longer than indy for comparison

#

seriously though stop the long movies!

#

Will have to mull over some depose thoughts when it’s not 0330am but Cruise and McQ definitely done it again - fantastic film. Not Fallout good for me, and probably behind Rogue Nation too which is my second face. Closely tied with Ghost Protocol after first watch.

#

Agreed airport sequence was brilliant (may be a little impartial as I worked on it 😉). Love return of Kitteridge and all the new characters.

left yew
#

Part Two is gonna be so awesome, I can't believe we have to wait a year for it

weak crystal
#

if the middle wasn’t as slow it would have made the ending so much better

left yew
#

I like the way the cliffhanger ending was done, there's enough resolved that you feel satisfied but still more to see that makes you want to come back for more

weak crystal
#

well it was really the only way they could split it

left yew
#

And the team's had a bit of a shake-up in their members so that's interesting

left yew
#

And I think most of y'all remember how excruciating that was

round locust
#

My biggest criticism was them explaining the AI way too many times

#

That dragged a few scenes out longer than necessary

#

The same thing happened to a lesser extent when they’d mention 5th Gen Fighters in Top Gun lol

#

The opening Kendrick scene in the intelligence meeting was superb

left yew
#

I hope the Entity gets to do cooler shit in Part Two

#

Maybe it becomes sentient enough to actually speak

#

That would be so cool

round locust
#

Was your screen busy? For a midnight screening might was pretty damn full

left yew
#

I went to an early screening a week ago

#

But yeah it was pretty packed, most of the audience were actual Paramount people

#

Which was just so cool

round locust
#

Haha, nice juicy insider screening!

weak crystal
#

my screening was kinda full

I’ll be very surprised if part 2 comes out on time

Hahaha - impressed enough that they’ll go watch the rest of the series?

left yew
round locust
#

They’ve shot bits of 8 already. Proper non-stop shooting doesn’t start until August

left yew
#

Oh, okay

#

||Given that Rebecca Ferguson's returning in Part Two that does make me wonder if Ilsa ever actually died or not||

#

I'm still kind of not over that

young flicker
#

OK SO

left yew
#

Hi Tin

young flicker
#

I just watched this and I'm... holy shit, I'm speechless

young flicker
left yew
young flicker
#

I should probably start with the weakest aspects but yeah, this being a part 1 hurt its pacing a little bit. Idk if its because I'm already used to the non-stop action of the previous movies but this one had enourmous chunks of exposition. At least the action sequences balanced things out ig.
I also didn't love the fact that ||they killed off Ilsa. Maybe she ain't even dead but gee idk, she was severely underutilized in this movie||
While I loved Benji and Luther in the airport sequence they really had nothing else to do for the rest of the story, which is a shame because I love them both lol. I suppose they will have a bigger role in part 2, but idk I was expecting more from them

left yew
#

I think the team got sidelined to focus more on Ethan and Grace which is kind of a shame

#

Don't get me wrong I do love Grace but she kind of had too much screentime for a new character

#

I do hope that Part 2 delves a bit deeper into Ethan's backstory

#

I don't know if this is just the jealous shipper side of me coming out, it's all really weird

#

Also my theory on ||Ilsa's underutilization was because of scheduling conflicts with Rebecca Ferguson, she's had a very busy year||

#

Sorry if this all feels jumbled

young flicker
#

Given that one of the plot points in this was that Ethan didn't want to put his friends in danger it should have been more team-focused lol. During the ||bomb scene when the AI asked Benji what mattered to him the most and he said his friends I chuckled so hard, I love Benji so much lol||

left yew
young flicker
young flicker
#

But yeah, aside from that I loved literally everything else

left yew
#

Especially because as a platonic thing their relationship is actually pretty cute

young flicker
#

They work better as friends, yeah. I also need more time to love Grace's character like I love Ilsa's

left yew
#

I'm a massive Ethan/Ilsa shipper so I think most of this is just jealousy

#

It's weird, you just get attached to characters sometimes

Nah it's ok I get it. Benji is one of my comfort characters so yeah smug

#

It's like a proper espionage spy film for quite a lot of its runtime

#

Had no clue they'd pivot this hard into the spy stuff

#

Like all good spy movies, none of it makes any sense, like all the M:I movies, they're about as Cruise-deifying as possible, but I loved it.

quiet orbit
#

i figured eventually mcquarrie would want to stretch those muscles hes got for thrillers

#

like that has always been what made him special as a writer initially, the first time he worked with cruise was a nazi political thriller about a coup attempt

first entry since MI2 to not be better than the previous entry tho

somber crag
#

3 wasn't better than 2

quiet orbit
#

3 is interesting in terms of the wider series because, even though he isnt producing this latest entry, its clear that it was JJ abrams' input that drove the current look and feel of this franchise (not suprising, he got hired cause he sent tom cruise an alias box set and cruise liked what he saw)

somber crag
#

But every film before Rogue Nation was the director's look and feel. 1 was about as De Palma as you'd get for a studio blockbuster, 2 was Woo unleashed, 3 was Abrams to a fault in how the characters all interacted with each other, Ghost Pro had that Brad Bird playfulness throughout that honestly wasn't all that present in the franchise beforehand

I love what Brad Bird did in Ghost Pro tbh

The train sequence was awesome.

#

The Entity seemed a bit ridiculous in my opinion, but it’s a serviceable plot device to further the story.

#

Loved Hayley Atwell’s character, but very sad to see Ilsa go. Man, why’d they have to kill her off?

#

I was also wondering how Fast X and this movie used the same location in Italy, and I think both has similar action sequences with that staircase.

#

But Mission Impossible does it better.

scenic ingot
#

That car chase sequence was very fun

cobalt lynx
#

The AI-part granted a whole new dimention to the film, felt near post apocalyptic, albeit a bit too close to home.

#

It's fairly ironic that the cliff jump scene felt like a product of CGI. Duno if it were due to the fact that they rendered a cliff edge that just looked off, or the sheer proportions of the jump

#

the only gripe I have with the fantastic action sequences was when Cruise somehow navigated himself straight into the lap of the guy that was gonna shoot his co-star. Very Sellers-esque somehow.

As of this movie, Tom Cruise is now older than Jon Voight when he was in the first Mission: Impossible (1996) (Voight was 57 at the time, whereas Cruise was 57 when filming initially started, 59 when it finally wrapped, and will be 61 when it's released).

Mission impossible dead reckoning part 1 was amazing, some of the best action scenes I've ever seen esp that ||motorcycle and train scenes||, performances were great and the story was interesting too. I loved it.

stark aurora

MI 7 part 1 ended perfectly for me like it wasn't a classic cliffhanger

wintry hatch
#

I don't care that it ended on a cliffhanger. I'm just saying that I feel like astv was able to get its themes across completely while it doesn't feel like this movie did which made it unsatisfying to me

#

cliffhanger endings are fine if they are actually saying a complete message

#

kind of disappointing cause I might've actually given this movie a 5 if it did that

For me Mission impossible 7 part 1 was totally satisfying. I still think ATSV is a better movie though overall.

The action is absolutely top notch and I didn't think the motorcycle scene would be topped but it did and regarding the story, it was a bit confusing like about ||the key and how Russians got it in the first place at the submarine??||

wintry hatch
#

the ai was cool

stark aurora
#

Yes it was

wintry hatch
#

The key was their key

#

It was just a russian key, the reason it's so important is because the ai was transmitted to them. The actual submarine and russians and even the key has no significance outside of that

stark aurora
wintry hatch
#

I believe they said Americans made it but I don't really remember

#

It was a targeted attack though

#

Or I mean

#

It was already on the sub

#

sry confusing plot points

stark aurora
wintry hatch
#

Either way the key has no significance, it's just a key to access the servers on the sub. They have it because they made it and if it wasn't unlocking that it wouldn't be important

#

the key doesn't control the ai, the key unlocks the sub to get to the source code of the ai that is on those servers

#

It's just a russian key

#

again, it's just a normal key

#

But yeah the ai was originally American and transmitted to the sub

#

I remember Cary Elwes saying that ||before he got killed ||

stark aurora
#

The key is the main thing in the movie though and we still don't really know what it does.. only Gabriel knew.

wintry hatch
#

We do though. It unlocks the server to get to the source code of the ai which is the only way to stop it

#

It's talked about a few times

#

Cause without the source code it's basically unstoppable

stark aurora
#

So the one who gets the source code then basically controls the AI right?? Or modify it

#

We gotta wait for part 2 to figure that out.

wintry hatch
#

that's the reason everyone needed the key

stark aurora
#

I gotta rewatch the movie one more time to be more clear

wintry hatch
#

But now Gabriel killed the only one who knows the location of the sub so idk what they're gonna do

full vapor
#

No, he doesn't know the location. Both he and Ethan know the submarine that contains the source code, but neither of them know the exact location

#

the point was that only Cary Elwes knew it's exact location, and Gabriel killed him so no one else would

wintry hatch
#

oh sorry yeah that's what I meant

lavish narwhal
#

no how do you know he doesnt

wintry hatch
#

Cary Elwes was going to tell him the location and he killed him before he could say

#

He might still know but that was never shown on screen

#

But idk why the entity would tell him

full vapor
#

the whole point is that no one knows, not even Gabriel, because then he can't tell and the Entity stays safe.

#

ngl though, 'the Entity' is a bit of a weak name. Guess they couldn't call it the Machine though because then they'd be ripping off Person of Interest

wintry hatch
#

ye I feel like most of the next movie will be about them trying to outsmart the entity into revealing its location maybe

full vapor
#

it'll be them trying to find the location of the sub without the Entity or Gabriel stopping them

wintry hatch
#

yes

young flicker
#

I can't wait for the entity to go ballistic, it terrifies me deeply and I wanna see more of it

wintry hatch
#

unmanned vehicle warfare

full vapor
#

but there's also going to be another layer

wintry hatch
#

where ilsa is revealed to not be dead

#

<3

full vapor
#

yeah, I mean, it's how do you escape/outsmart god?

wintry hatch
#

you make him think you died

snow abyss
#

Paris knew it too

#

And told Ethan

full vapor
#

Not the location!!

#

just the name of the submarine!

wintry hatch
#

ye

snow abyss
#

Yeah but there are reports on where it crashed

#

That’s easy to find

full vapor
#

no, one one knows where it crashed

#

that was established

#

the sub was invisible to dectection due to the AI

wintry hatch
#

I like how the movie opened with coordinates. It seemed very arbitrary but turned out to be the second most important objective in the movie

snow abyss
#

Zammers

#

Will Gabriel give over the locale

#

Maybe when he realises that the Entity is betraying him

full vapor
snow abyss
#

Did Dr Gordon not tell him

full vapor
#

no

#

he told him the name of the submarine

#

and that was as far as he got

snow abyss
#

I was surprised the Entity let Ethan know that much

#

And get the key

young flicker
#

But he didn't tell him the location

snow abyss
#

That’s 2/3 of the way there

#

On the bright side

#

This means we’re gonna get a cool underwater stunt in the next one

wintry hatch
#

anything the entity did is most likely calculated to be to the safest thing for it to do

full vapor
#

Part of me wonders if the solution to destroying The Entity won't be the source code, or whatevers. It'll be teaching it morality or something, and the Entity decides to destroy itself.

wintry hatch
#

the entire movie most likely went exactly as the entity planned

wintry hatch
snow abyss
#

The way for the Entity to win is for Ethan to know what the submarine is and get the key

full vapor
snow abyss
#

Are we gonna get a code vs code fight scene

#

Luther is getting some of the Entity’s code

wintry hatch
#

I agree it'll be more than just the source code

wintry hatch
snow abyss
#

Survive i imagine

wintry hatch
#

It may not just be staying alive

full vapor
#

The Entity has no morals, just survival instincts. It's doing everything it is to keep itself safe

snow abyss
#

Because it had the chance to take down the world

wintry hatch
#

We don't know that

snow abyss
#

But just left fingerprints to confirm it exists

full vapor
wintry hatch
#

Right but there are other reasons for it to exist outside of destroying the world and survival

snow abyss
#

I just feel like it would’ve already

#

Why leave proof of existence as a threat

full vapor
#

if it wanted to remain secret, it would have

wintry hatch
#

Unless it needs Ethan to be led to do something

#

Or possibly to scare the world into action

full vapor
wintry hatch
#

Scare the world into disarmament even

snow abyss
#

Could be trying to fish out the best soldiers not a bad shout

full vapor
#

"Showing that it exists to bring all of it's enimies out into the open"

snow abyss
#

But then it would just be trying to kill them off to eliminate threat and thus for survival

snow abyss
#

It isn’t like trying to rule the world or anything

full vapor
#

we don't know that yet

wintry hatch
#

It's also archetypal thinking to think an ai's goal would be to just kill humans. If you destroy the world and kill all humans it suddenly becomes really hard to have places to survive and become stronger

#

I think it has another goal that we just don't know yet

#

That would lead it to have better odds of survival

snow abyss
#

The AI is one of Ethan’s old enemies obviously

wintry hatch
#

lol

full vapor
#

it knew that out in the world was a key that could access its source code and be used to either control or destroy it. So it left enough traces of itself out there so humans would find the key for it.

snow abyss
#

It wants the key to get brought to it

wintry hatch
#

Indeed

full vapor
#

or to be permanently lost

snow abyss
#

But then they could seemingly destroy it that way

#

And if we assume the movie played as the AI wanted then it was supposed to end with Ethan

full vapor
#

unless Gabriel has the key and would never use it for that

snow abyss
#

Except he didn’t

#

And he also looked mad and confused about it

full vapor
#

because humans are unpredictable

snow abyss
#

So wonder if he was betrayed by the AI

#

Or it was wrong and it didn’t see Ethan getting it

full vapor
#

the Entity works on probabilities based on known variables. It can chose the most likely scenario of events, but there will always be an element of chaos outside of it's control

#

and maybe that's why it targets Ethan, because he is that uncontrollable element?

snow abyss
#

Ethan Hunt is about to take on and beat God

full vapor
#

and he has to do it with analogue technology

snow abyss
#

McQ said the next one has the most intense stunt of the entire series

#

And also the most worried he’s been during a stunt

full vapor
#

like, seriously though, there were heavy shades of Person of Interest all over this story. 😄

snow abyss
#

Well Luther is off working on something

#

I wonder if they’ll fight the Entity with the Entity

#

Use its original code to work out probabilities where they win

full vapor
#

or simply ask it an unanswerable question?

#

Makes me think of a The Prisoner episode

young flicker
#

They're gonna ask it to produce an accurate picture of a hand

full vapor
#

Fearing the worst, the Professor tries to shut down the computer, and as it begins to overload, Number Twelve tries to rescue the professor. The "General" self-destructs, killing both men in the process. A distraught Number Two asks Number Six what the question was. The General, and Number Two's plans, were destroyed by a simple epistemological trick: "Why?"```
snow abyss
#

“Show us how we win”

snow abyss
#

Though I imagine it’ll answer that question as to satisfy the fans

#

So that one won’t work

full vapor
#

Obvs spoilers for a TV show from the 1960's

snow abyss
#

I feel like Kittridge has to be working for the Entity in some way

#

You mean to say he’s just come back after years for this specific mission?

#

I bet the Entity sent him to the train as a second option of getting the key

full vapor
snow abyss
#

Oh I saw that very fire

#

And he also wouldn’t mind fellow operatives seeing him on the train if he’s there on behalf of America

#

Dr Gordon was also there to play his cards being the only person who knows where the sub is which implies he didn’t know any associates would be there

full vapor
#

it's probably another line of defence for the Entity - make all the power players distrust each other so they're too busy fighting each other

snow abyss
#

It’s just that Kittridge being there to get the key instead of just for personal gain or protection like Dr Gordon makes it seem like he was getting it for someone

#

The Entity has multiple possibilities and one possibility obviously would’ve been Kittridge completing the sale and getting the key

#

So the Entity would hire him to get it and bring it

full vapor
#

unless he was genuinely doing it for safety reasons, and he used knowing the White Widow and her mother (Max) as leverage

snow abyss
#

He was definitely doing it in self interest

#

Remember the intro scene

full vapor
#

though, at the start of the film, he did let security go after Ethan, and he set the bounty on Isla's head, right?

snow abyss
#

Yes

#

He put a bounty on Ilsa to get the key

#

Didn’t work so he sent Ethan

full vapor
#

But Ethan told Grace he was a man who could be trusted, even at the end

snow abyss
#

He didn’t say that

full vapor
#

he did.

snow abyss
#

He said he trusts he’ll put her in a good position

#

And help her out

full vapor
#

hmm

snow abyss
#

Grace says “Ethan said you’re a man I can trust”

#

But that’s not actually what Ethan says to her

#

I thought i misheard the first time but when I rewatched it I specifically heard it

full vapor
#

I think Kitteridge is playing a long game

snow abyss
#

He’s definitely in it for self interest

#

But whether that’s actually for the Entity who knows

full vapor
#

maybe

snow abyss
#

There’s also the point that he hasn’t been around for years

#

Yet this mission is the one he returns on

#

Interesting

#

(They tried to get him in the other movies but said he fit best in the story for this two parter)

#

And I don’t think in Part One he played a role he couldn’t have played in any of the others

Came out on a Monday in the UK

okay but top gun is also the 12th highest grossing film of all time

the highest grossing mission impossible is fallout at 700 million

expecting top gun numbers is kinda crazy

ashen solar

Has to be a troll and if not, they should stop watching movies if they have takes like this

That would be a ridiculous expectation

ashen solar

Didnt War Of The Worlds open to 100 mill?

snow abyss
ashen solar
#

Anyways, yeah it will probably do 800+ mill numbers

#

And thats a great hit

#

Oh

#

Gotcha

#

Anyways, nowadays, people think not hitting 1 bill means the movie underperformed but thats not the case

snow abyss
#

The numbers are also a bit more skewed for this

#

They had a staggered release every day of this week

ashen solar
#

Staggered as in?

snow abyss
#

Staggered releases

#

So some countries on Monday, some on Tuesday etc

ashen solar
#

Oh ok

snow abyss
#

So it doesn’t create great balance or make it easy to follow the box office

ashen solar
#

Anyways, gonna watch this on 19th

snow abyss
#

And that’s only in America

#

Here we got it on the 10th

ashen solar
#

Top Gun 2 made 100 mill domestically on the first week?

snow abyss
#

America got it on the 12th

#

And so on so on

ashen solar
#

We got it on the 13th here

#

Damn

snow abyss
#

Top Gun’s power was in the legs tho

#

Because it slowed down

#

But it was in cinemas until literally December 2022

#

My cinema was showing it all year until Avatar 2 came in

ashen solar
#

Cruise is a global star so, makes sense

#

It was showing in theatres for a long time here too

#

It was 1.5b though?

snow abyss
#

Well it sort of slowed down at around 600m so it was looking to end around there

#

But then in summer it really picked up speed

#

And kept that momentum

ashen solar
#

When did it release?

snow abyss
#

May 2022

#

It was around May 22nd

#

End of May

ashen solar
#

Word of mouth

snow abyss
#

Well even I heard people talking about it

ashen solar
#

And helped that the movie is amazing

snow abyss
#

How amazing it is

#

So more people were going in

ashen solar
#

And it really was amazing

snow abyss
#

For me it wasn’t amazing but you know

#

It was great but not the insanely incredible movie everyone was talking about

#

To each their own of course

#

No but it’ll make it out with good money

ashen solar
#

Its top 2 movie from 2022 for me

snow abyss
#

They’ll profit a nice amount

ashen solar
#

As I said, maybe 800+?

snow abyss
#

Well they begin to profit moreso around late 600s/700

#

The people yearn for the Cruise

#

Hopefully

full vapor
#

Top Gun also came out after things started comfortably opening up after the pandemic and had been heavily advertised, so it was sort of special circumstances. And it didn't have any real competition for ages

snow abyss
#

Literally had the big Doctor Strange 2 movie

#

Everything Everywhere All At Once was doing an international rollout at the same time

#

Jurassic World Dominion (which ended up grossing over a billion) opened a week later

#

Think people were just happy to be back

full vapor
#

Eh, to me it didn't have any competition after it came out. I saw, like 8 films in the 7 weeks before it released though.

stark aurora
#

Top gun maverick didn't have much of a competition compared to MI 7 part 1.. like this week Oppenheimer and Barbie are getting released. These are huge movies and this may result in many people not watching MI 7 repeatedly which many did with Maverick. I think it will cross 600 million dollars though as it is doing quite well in foreign markets.

stark aurora
#

And very less repeat viewings.

violet lodge

this movie need at least 700 million to break even

Even if it doesn't break even, if it has legs to come near that number, and Barbenheimer is enough of a success, the blockbuster industry would be in a healthy enough place

hollywood doesn't really know how to implement tech stuff into movies

#

thats the main complaint

#

action was fucking phenomenal

#

but in a way this makes the first mission impossible stand out even more

#

you can clearly see the french suspense vibe it took from movies like La Circle Rouge, Samourai and Le Trou

#

tech was presented in a way that makes sense in the first couple movies

but then this here AI coming in here taking over an entire nightclub to show its face on the screen and having it be embedded into a fucking watch

stark aurora

full vapor

I just think people don't have the paitence for thrillers these days.

#

The "spy thriller" element isn't the big stunts and fight sequences. It's about building tension, about not knowing who to trust and trying to figure out the motives of the other person. It's about detecting the lie, finding the crack and using it to your advantage.

warm beacon

smoky coral
#

They could even get away with a higher rating if need be

full vapor
#

I don;t think they were at all targeting a younger demographic. It was just a PG13

#

Like, Arachnophobia is a PG, but I wouldn't say it's a film for kids.

#

And weren't all the previous films a PG13 or lower??

#

yeah, so your arguement is kind of moot

snow abyss
#

But this one definitely required you to actually pay attention to certain scenes to make sense of it

#

When I went for a rewatch, I could feel the audience getting disgruntled as the dialogue and scenes kept going at the start

stark aurora
#

And therein lies the problem.

somber crag

It's less the patience of the audience and more to do with the dialogue itself. While I'd argue De Palma's film and Rogue Nation put stock into how the spy elements read off the page, here they are unfiltered exposition dumps. They only really work because of how well they're directed (the way the camera glides through the scenes reminded me of LotR and other blockbusters of auld).

I agree. The exposition scenes were much longer and heavier in this movie, since they had a longer runtime this time I suppose

#

But they were well compensated with the action pieces so I have no complains there

It’s interesting that this entry takes a lot of inspiration from the first one’s cinematography; can definitely feel some of the Dutch angles some of the scenes throw at you
