#few aspect for making short film

Don’t go for complexity. Complexity actually cheapens the look of the film. I’ve seen so many shorts that have wacky editing and story that all are usually shot in one sitting
Many people try to make the most complex thing ever their first try @humble raven
Wait until you have a budget and are in fests to branch out
Start small
Nobody prefers a low image quality. Preferably your visuals, acting, and writing are all good. It’s a triangle of these three ideas. Try to get two of these down for a decent movie. All three of these ideas are what all good films have
Damn i agree with this. Took quite a while to accept I need to start simple
Yeah even this movie for example, while with a historical premise and a good premise, is still under the budget it should be for this type of film: https://youtu.be/j2J0TOnD_UY
First movie trailer for Come Out Fighting starring Tyrese Gibson.
A cheap war film looks cheap
I doubt the visual I'm trying right now can be good cuz lack of budget , so yeah might up a notch in the writing & acting department.
So stick with genres that anyone can do
Practice writing first since that’s what you can control the easiest
It’s just practice
Surprisingly horror and dramas are the easiest films to make
Skinamarink, love it or hate it, is as low budget as you get but it works
It plays into the bad camera quality
And lack of good lighting
Oh yeah lighting is also key. If you don’t have access to film lights, use natural light or practicals
Whoa... I just saw the trailer the mood is on point.
Yeah it’s the first real analog horror film to make it into the indie market
After I'm done with my school project of making action short. I think I'll try horror like a bottleg blair witch project.
Marker. @humble raven is on Take 2!
Trying new stuff is great! Wanna hear my take?
Sure. Go ahead
My take is that all films and stories are recycled. If you spend too much time trying to be 100% original and not borrow ideas from filmmakers you like, you’ll be VERY disappointed because there are stories that have been around since the beginning of civilization. There is no true original story. Even Shakespeare took inspiration and ideas. It’s just how you put a twist on that story that has been told 100 billion times that is important
I mean every single Stephen King novel for example has basically 20 movies attached to it lol
Hollywood is looking for new takes on things, not originality
Holy shit YES. I've been trying to tell my teacher this for a long time, and they brand me for a fool and uninspiring. It's not like I'm plagiarised it...
Are you in film school?
Usually film professors are embracing of what I said
Yes, & no. It's just that only recently the curriculum has a massive shift, before we focus on programming. And suddenly now film making. Ngl this is what I wish from beginning, Since looking at the majors name. Technology & information multimedia
Only small few
Ohhh interesting. It seems that the professors don’t really understand how story’s are made
If they are the same ones who were programming before
Yes it's quite troublesome
Thank you btw for your input.
I'll consider those pointer for future references & endeavor
Also sorry if I spoke weirdly, English is my third language.
