#📺The Last of Us (2023)
1 messages · Page 4 of 1
his name is literally elliot?
Not at the time of being credited for Juno.
Thats why i called him Ellen
i get that, but also i don't really think you should be deadnaming trans people for any reason
Yea, some people don't think that's acceptable. But, lol. It's the same thing with other actors/rappers or whatever who change their name.
Snoop dog has the Snoop Dog and the Snoop Lion.
Except the juno but the juno looks like Ellie if I recall
Then is Elliot page, but there was a ellen page at some point.
Ye, they look and act alot like I think.
So much so that I even thought that's who the voice actor was. rofl
Also if I recall correctly the people who made the last of us were sued because of the way the character looked or something?
lol deadnaming, wat?
you keep calling him ellen when that's not his name
But, it was at the specific time. We were talking specifically about the movie Juno to which Elliot is credited under their past name Ellen Page. Elliot by the very credits wasn't in Juno, and obviously wasn't the model for ellie. It makes more sense to say Ellen Page.
I don't think this has anything to do with trans, this is typically how people communicate various eras in a clebs career. Specfically when they change their name.
elliot page did a fascinating film called Hard Candy, that's sort of like "I Saw the Devil" but set in one building.. that movie and "gaycation" sort of made me not shocked they changed to a man.
I have a feeling this is going to be better than the actual animated movie
Jokes aside tho i'm actually excited for the mario film. Idc what people say i actually like the castings
So far? 4 is my favourite
Followed by episode 1 then 2 and lastly 3
Bit confused when is Episode 5 coming out.
Friday for americans saturday morning for europeans
Thanks. So Saturday for me.
Saturday morning for Asians like me too
oh snap, i totally forgot for us europeans it will be saturday morning...
awwwwwwwwwwwwww
btw i don't get why peeps from a videogame adaptation should look like their videogame counterpart
like, they're most of the time inspired by real people and then modeled afterwards, why this obsession over being identical? as long as they don't swap obvious stuff like hair color, skin color or something like this, it's ok, otherwise we would be in the mud for trying to find actors looking like their comic variants in the MCU universe
surely ellie actress when she first appeared was outrageously bad, but it got definitely better in the following episodes
I dunno chris pratt as Mario is very suspect. We're in the age of political correctness, but I guess nobody cares that Mario is virtually an offensive Italian Stereotype and the best way to remove that element would be to include an actual Italian actor, even if Italian American.
But, nah. Let's just have some random smoe play Mario. The fans wanted Danny DeVito which would of been perfect, rofl.
Also, if that part doesn't disqualify Chris Pratt what about the fact that he's a member of a famous Anti-LGBT activist church the Hillsong Church. 😛
I'd say the movie is almost a perfect cast completely ruined by it's lead voice actor Chris Pratt. At least he's going to being do a brox accent so not to be completely racist.
"If you are a famous actor and you belong to an organization that hates a certain group of people, don’t be surprised if someone simply wonders why it’s not addressed. Being anti-LGBTQ is wrong, there aren’t two sides," Elliot Page
This is a tweet that Elliot Page sent Chris Pratt, lol.
If you go to Youtube and see what people are saying, they are just upset about how the actress looks. Some of them were calling her ugly. I think the actress is great and fits ellie perfectly.
The people trashing her for looks should feel really really bad that they are upset that the 14 year character isn't attractive enough for them. -.-
oh so bad, a 14 year old isn't fap material 😦 how sad for them, can we send some police in those houses?
if only 😛
anyway given she'll need to "raise" in that role, i think it wasn't exactly the easiest casting of all time
they had to select someone with enough potential of growing in the character
That'd be the only trick with the casting, is they need a actress who will either age up by the time the second one is made.
Or can be made to look older.
she can definitely be made to look older, but i'm afraid the second part is coming out in some years lol
first part is enough to spawn 2 or even 3 seasons, depending on how long they drag some stuff
lol ye, so she prob grow into the role.
I find that part important because it stresses the character development.
you mean the second?
Ellie grows alot from when you first see her and where the game leaves off.
ye
Like as a person I mean.
imho it's going to be some serious shit raining down when they'll dwelve on the dlc stuff
but the game does stress the physical difference.
Going from young girl to young woman.
if phobic people were traumatized by the 3rd episode
can't wait to see their reaction to ellie's memories
lol
You'll be surprised there is a bit of difference in acceptance between gay and lesbian relationships.
oh no surprise, i assure you
lol
i know it all too well, but even then, i'm positive it will be funny to see these desperate shortcomings of humans come up with crazy stuff
they prob just be upset it wasn't hot enough for them. eye rolls
all i care about is they did a wonderful job with the 3rd and i hope they win some award, 'cause that's sundance material
Not gonna lie. Idgaf, and most people also dont care im just excited to see a mario film and i like chris pratt so im glad he's voicing it
I dunno, I'll be upset If the 3rd episode is their best one. Because yea it was great, but it was it's own story.
in my opinion and experience, a lot of people care actually
pratt is considered a prick
They don't care but if it was a black character being played by a white person, they would of all freaked out.
i'll pretend to not consider tlou story very shabby compared to any original show, but they can get away enough from the game to make it better
Also he's not. That was a lie made up by elliot page, the head pastor of that church came out and said he never once attended but im not gonna argue this any further. All i said was im excited for a film
And so I think that is bias, Why not have someone of that actual group give reputation isn't that the entire point?
.
And i am
I was just looking for stuff to hate on Pratt for. 😄
That part did seem like a stretch.
I wonder what the beef between him and eliot is.
Nothing, elliot thought he was part of the church, went on some talk show and "called him out" pratt being a respectable guy ignored it and eventually the pastor came out and said it for him
you mean the hillsong or the zoe? 'cause regarding that:
“I never went to Hillsong,” he says. “I’ve never actually been to Hillsong. I don’t know anyone from that church.”
Pratt says he attends Zoe Church, but not exclusively. (Zoe isn’t free from controversy either. The church was founded by Chad Veach, who participated in a short film that equated “same-sex attraction” with “sexual brokenness.”)
Ye, as reading up on it. He did go to Zoe, which is in the same boat as Hillsong
i mean, if you ask me, anyone is ok to do whatever they want, but as elliott says, just don't act clueless when someone points out that maybe that isn't supercool
Most average people off the internet dont actually care about most things and just watch films for enjoyment as do i. I watched the mario trailer heard the voices and im excited for the film thats all
ok Mr. Representative of Average People
Seth rogan as DK is perfect and i like chris pratt so idm him as mario
won't argue with you
Chris Pratt voice is mid for mario tho. It's just generic new yorker.
I'm only upset because we all know Danny devito should of been Mario.
But he isnt so it doesnt matter. All i said was im excited for the film. Thats literally it
technically speaking, i don't like the pratt choice 'cause the italian dubber for pratt is not fit at all
It's okay, we have Voice Changer A.I now, so when the movie comes out, I'm going to use it to change everything that Chris Pratt says into Danny's Voice.
And the movie will be great.
but whatever, this comes from the fact that they can't just select a more fitting voice but instead have to follow the dubber of the actor 😐
Ye, just one of the many eras of Hollywood production.
when i watched the trailer everyone was doing an ok job
and then mario spoke
and i was like "oh no..."
In a perfect world charles martinet got to voice mario but we dont live in one. Im happy with chris pratt
We're lucky that the Italians relaxed, they used to really freak out and riot when they got culturally snubbed. They feel included enough into America now to only minor freak out about Mario.
that's italian americans, a different thing
But, back in the old days they would of smashed up some cities.
and that part of your culture is being "americanized" all the way
Or wacked a guy
here in italy things are felt very different, i mean
it's not like we think of mario as an italian lol
He's Italian American, but he was created by Japanese company to be a sterotypical Italian, not American Italian.
and they failed in... both, i guess
But, American art changed him into Italian American to try and remove some of the offensiveness.
although it sort of fits the italian american stereotype
also i don't want to sound rude but
if he had to adhere the italian stereotype
yeeeeeah... he wouldn't be funny at all
sorry
yeah, well, italian americans and italians as i said do not share much lol
But supposely to Japan and USA it's just like "OOooh A SPICY MEATBALL!!
yes and that's why i say they failed miserably, 'cause while we have "polpette" in italy
it's not exactly a huge thing
If u guys are gonna talk about this can u do it in movies or video game chat? This is TLOU i brought it up as a side comment and moved on
lol ops
it's just that i'm pretty surprised by all of TLOU stuff, i was expecting some classic trainwreck
Yeah unfortunate. But i'll probs stay up for it. Or watch it as soon as i wake up before i see any spoilers
As hinted in the last one.
and instead they're doing a nice job
With the ruh floors and wrecks
i guess i'll avoid social stuff on saturday lol
The trainwreck happens when there becomes a flood of other Video Game rips off because of this.
I have nothing to do saturday so i'll be watching the last of us as soon as im able to
Which will be 10 mins after i wake up and have a drink
oh well i enjoy a lot of zombie games that may or may be not "ripoffs" of stuff, so i'm not taking a stance on this
I predict that Amazon will create a remake of "Life is Strange" to try and directly counter the Last of Us Season 2.
but since i saw TWD and this one
and dropped TWD like... instantly
the difference in quality is huge
bring it on, please
Yea, TWD fricking Soap Opera Style.... can't stand it.
i love life is strange
As long as the show keeps at the level of episode 1 or 4 i think it'll be a minimum 9/10 show
ye but amazon would be the worst producers.
4 is my favourite so far
4 > 1 > 2 > 3 for me so far
Also time to humble brag, I was apart of an amazon film
and the whole situation
eh, depends which one 'cause i'm not sure it can be bragged too much 😂
like, i write books for "famous" people in my job, but i wouldn't like ever take credit for even one of them
'cause the people represented are enough to make me sick
i remember when i was watching TLOU movie on youtube tho, basically all the videos + core part of the game to understand the story
It was just nice to get a slight taste of the production side of film and t.v
lol ye
and looking at it today is like... wow
That's why I said watch out for the other clearly story based video games. Hollywood is hunger for content.
man now i'm kinda anxious for life is strange, i love the game but seeing what they did with lotr...
<- kind of a lotr fan
lol, I don't know if they are actually taking it up. It was just an off the wall prediction. If I made movies though, that's be the IP I'd be trying to buy.
Have the actors of ||sam and henry been in anything before?|| just want to see what they've done and the quality of their previous work
that's definitely worth it, i mean, with tlou they knew they would be cashing like crazy
There was this outdated rumor
7 year old rumor with no substance
looks at 2016 ah... well before the pandemic took over... violins start to play when life was... less strange...
the kid looks like the kid from peter pan's lost children
but i'm pretty sure it can't be him
I find it odd that they just straight up canned such products during the Pandemic instead of just delaying them.
They just go "well, pandemic hit, throw it in the trash can and get me the next script!"
drugs do that often
"oh so i was doing this stuff, but then i sniffed and forgot what it was, well, whatever, next project"
Whoever DJ2 is
They claim they making a show of life of strange
eeeehhhh...
let me doubt about it
lol
They also say Amazon is making a series from the game It Takes Two
And there is an Uncharted movie
oh wait they did that one already
I didn't see it though
lol the uncharted movie is kinda old news by now
LiS is the only game alongside TLOU worthy of a live adaptation tho
This blog seems to have a bit of info about video game video adapations
In general
and hellblade: senua's sacrifice
but no one will spend that much money on a videogame adaptation
like, ever
Oh
So if these guys did Life of Strange
According to them, it likely is going to amazon
-.-
better than netflix i guess
It just seems that the game adapation "It takes two"
Is considered more important than life is strange
meh, less risky
i mean, look at tlou gay stuff and the reception loool, i was dying of laughter
people citing jesus
and they also wanna do Disco Elysium
These guys are the same people who did Sonic the hedgehog
Or at least some of them were involved in that
the person who made the games is in charge of the show
Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are the showrunners for The Last of Us
Greg Spence
Cecil O'Connor
Craig was also the showrunner and writer of Chernobyl
these are the producers
And Neil helmed the games
stence is kinda famous
isn't it?
did you really not know that things are almost never filmed where they take place?
Craig and Neil are pretty much the creative forces behind the show
especially for a show that takes place all over the country
oh, i see
Well, ye I know that it has alot to do with the film politics and there is actually a kinda science to what places look like other places.
no its just a time and money thing
mazin has a weird... curriculum...
It's also not uncommon for places to be shot where they say they are as well though.
We know
He's also behind one of the greatest miniseries ever made and he's won three Emmys for it so I trust him
i mean, it's ok, it's probably a veteran of this stuff at this point
but the filmography leaves you puzzled
That's what I mean by film politics. It also has to do with film tax and production laws. Some places can be very strict with tons of labor union laws and heavy taxes. That's it's simply cheaper to just recreate a location then actually go there.
yes, but when the show takes place all over the country, you cant expect them to actually take the actors all over and build dozens of sets all over the country
also apparently they're doing a series on borderlands
and i don't know why, because borderlands doesn't look exactly translatable into a good series...
yeah a lot of games do not translate well to film
yea instead they just did a cross country trip around the providence of
Alberta, Canada. XP
the last of us is very cinematic and story-based so it works well
yeah exactly
but translating an fps to film is WAY harder
i mean, even fallout is more cinematic than borderlands
I'd love to see a movie adaptation of What Remains of Edith Finch
I mean, there is some films where they literally film all over the globe.
Cross America created movies do exist.
one providence in canada is way smaller than the entirety of the us lol
Yes, but they have giant budgets
yea but they dont have to create entire sets of ruined city streets and deal with blocking off multiple blocks at a time to film
TLOU already has to spend lots of money on making sets look like a post-apocalyptic setting and on prosthetics for the Infected
I'm just surpised it was in canada. NC would of been a perfect American location.
just being able to film in actual cities takes so much time and money when they have to look abandoned
and they also need to film it with poor light otherwise the props for the clickers look very weird lol
but like you said, they need to get places that look like other places
It's a famous state for basically having major different locations, Mountain, Beach, Forest, Field, etc.
That's why I said NC
You can easily make it look like you went across america.
In that one state.
it's the state most people film in when they do that.
Really cheap for filming too.
I don't know canada though, I assume it's the same.
The locations in the show are great.
i saw all the episode titles for the show yesterday and im so excited
like episode 7 is literally just titled "left behind"
very expensive
and episode 9 is "look for the light" which ties back to the episode one title
pour one out for the CGI crew
nah I just meming, don't know.
i saw a clip of them filming
its crazy
there will be like one block of street that looks like run down and abandoned
but RIGHT out of the frame of the camera is just regular city with people and traffic
tomorrow we will cross the halfway point of the show
that's honestly crazy that it's been weeks
ikr! its been over a month since the show started
and its so fucking good
i cannot believe how good it is
i still gotta finish andor 😭
how many episodes have you seen
you're so close to where it really gets good
i'll start it again eventually
i did think the first couple episodes were boring and stopped the first time but i think episode four solidified it for me
and one of the guys from The Bear is in that episode lol
andor is another series i'd like to watch, although i'm not a star wars fan lol
ok im glad im not the only one
im not even like a big star wars fan either
but i watched the mandalorian and liked it a lot
there's absolutely no force wielding in Andor, but there is ||a lightsaber one time||
i started the book of boba fett but only got through like two episodes
minor spoiler
that show sucked lol
Andor gets everything right that Book of Boba Fett got wrong
that was literally just an episode of the mandalorian
yeahhhh
i haven't seen that yet
i know that show was a bit divisive
it had some weak moments and weird choices
but definitely worth watching
the last episode is crazy
i'll keep that in mind
i don't know if i need to convince you more, but Andy Serkis guest stars in two of the best episodes of Andor
i just got around to watching the prequels a few months ago
each one is better than the last
like the first one sucks
but the third one is pretty good
i still haven't seen them all
you should
unpopular opinion, but i do think that The Last Jedi is better than the first two prequels (the only ones i've seen)
theyre not as bad as i thought they were be
i agree
i like the last jedi a lot more than most people
by far my favorite of the sequel trilogy
i feel the same
i like the force awakens, but it is literally just a copy-paste of a new hope
and well, i dont need to explain why i dont like the rise of skywalker
i just don't get how people like The Force Awakens over The Last Jedi
the last jedi is the only movie in the sequel trilogy that even tried to take the franchise in a new direction
and not just be fan service and retellings of the original trilogy
exactly
That's not how it works, bud.
(saw that was from awhile ago - discord didn't take me to the latest message lmaoo. my bad)
lol thats happened to me
Hahaha discord is wild
the last of us is probably the best star wars movie
the last of us is the best hamlet adaptation
the last of us is my favourite harry potter book
Are you sure?
idk how he would feel about it, but as a trans person i really wouldn't want to be deadnamed at all. that's why i'm not calling him that name.
Sorry if this was said but I believe the unconfirmed rumor was that Elliot was originally wanted for the role but TLOU was being made at the same time as Beyond Two Souls which he starred in instead. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2192570/
Great game btw
Ellies appearance was changed the TLOU2 and the recent remake of the 1st game to less resemble Elliot
bold of you to assume people are that educated
i choose to see the good in people until they prove otherwise
man, we could make a yin and yang social depiction
didn't know this
Yes.
i'm planning to play both beyond games
They go by Elliot Page, so that's what they are referred to as. That's their name.
No one trips if you call Snoop Lion, Snoop Dogg.
It's okay if you don't understand, but it's cooler to ask questions.
what does this mean? i'm a bit confused
Because someone's name isn't an alias lmao
Image being so hurt by the name your parents gave you, or the name that is on your best actress trophy.
the fact you brought this up twice shows how little you differentiate between a show personality and a gender identity
i hate fiercely people until proved otherwise
Could be wrong. I've read it several places over the years and it's possible it could just be one of those rumors that spreads and gets treated as fact, but It kinda makes sense.
that's fair
It's... not about being hurt. Again, its okay if you want to be ignorant but it's cooler to ask questions.
possibly yes
why aren't you using it yourself noiw then?
They don't go by Ellen Page because they don't identify with that name. How come you don't use your name?
They are literally credited as ellen in such roles before their transgension. That seems pretty normal to do.
Mmm..
i'm outta here
Yeah, I'm out.
thank you
"made" is the right word
i actually saw Inception the other day and it said Elliot in the credits btw, and then i'm leaving
People just try to make this stuff way more confusing than it needs to be.
"woke rules"
lol
bro he can still play a woman if he wants, it doesn't make him one
Yeah what an unusual attempt at a flex.
should redmayne change his name 'cause he played the danish girl?
time to call him Edda?
Nobody tell him who plays Bart in The Simpsons
Some folks really just take the mask off when they feel confident enough.
sigh... everytime i think i'm safe outside facebook boomer stuff, here we go again
so not cool
Not difficult to grasp the concept. I know for some it's a matter of thinking they have to relearn everything they knew about something but people are more than welcome to engage in a healthy discussion to discuss it
But some folks just don't want to be respectful I guess
yeah, some things are best left rotten
Sad
you can be really rude when you don't actually use your real name
Hahaha
Lol the only point I was saying is that Ellie was based on Ellen Page, Obviously not Elliot Page. or ellie would be a 35 year old man.
yes, it's about... look
i'll make it simple
if i see an apple
and mistake it for an orange
ellie is based on elliot then, not elliot now
i then call the apple "apple"
They're still called Elliot Page.
if i see an apple, realize it's an orange, and still call that an orange
Again, you're choosing to be difficult over something that's easy to discuss
the fault is mine
yes, we understand that character from 2010s is not based on real person's apperance from 2020s
Or it's more like if you see a butterfly, you refer to it as a caterpillar when it was a caterpillar.
no need to spell it out
you call it a butterfly when it becomes a butterfly
You don't call caterpillar's butterfilies.
i hope
Again, if you don't understand something then just ask.
Exactally, now you get it.
or a "caterpillar with wings"?
It's okay to be inquisitive
and it's a butterfly now, it was a butterfly back then
just in another form
It wasn't a butterfly then... it was a caterpillar hints the different words.
you can tell, "by the time he went by the ellie name" and that would tooootally make so sense
I certainly wouldn't reduce someone's identity down to a simple misrepresenting analogy.
It's get really confusing if you don't recognized the transgression.
I have zero idea what's going on right now
the trangression?
Eliot is Eliot but it's improper to say they were always that.
k mr rabbit
Because that's simply not true.
good for you
How is it improper? Just be respectful lol
😐
But if the butterfly was named Elliot then why would you call the caterpillar Ellen?
it's dead name because they were imposed an identity
that wasn't theirs
but i see where you're going and transphobia makes me puke honestly
definitely outta here
A name that was a gift from their parents, and thus should have some special meaning if they changed it to match their idenitity.
Names are gifts.
That's not how it works.
Names are just names
I understand you have a traditionalist view of things and I respect that
But names are names.
You can take on new ones if you wish and change them if you'd like, because a name's just a name
I don't respect rudeness towards someone's identity.
I would say that's a cultural thing.
It's not nice.
muting the discussion as well, holy fuck this degenerates and their ignorance
For example, the name Laughing Rabbit was given to me by my tribe.
Cultural or not, it cost nothing to be respectful.
I'm sure you call Vin Diesel Mark Sinclair then 🙏
are we still having this conversation
Yes
dont fucking deadname people
i dont care if their name used to be different
just use their current fucking name
why is that such a problem
Indeed, why is it a problem.
(deadnaming really hurts, for those who don't know)
You tell us, mack
stfu
All of us here are using names we gave ourselves
Some people's kids.
Lol, my name was actually given to me by my tribe.
ok cool
They're not our real names really but they're our second names
But, sure it is tradition to pick an allias online.
are you really comparing changing your name when transitioning to using a username online? 💀
Oh, sorry
And I'm proud of you and I'm happy you love your name.
But, one's actual name is a gift from your parents. Even nicknames are normally earned. Sure, celebrities have changed that by having stage names though. But, still use personal names for personal stuff.
I didn't mean to equate it to that, I'm so sorry
again, thats really not the same as changing your name due to transitioning
its not a nickname
Be nice, like Swayze said 😎
its you
I wouldn't call Elliot, Ellen in the present tense. If that's what you guys mean.
I debate it still make sense to say former names, it's common before trans that's how you did.
no
I like equallity, I don't see the point to do something special. Treat someone like you treat everyone equally.
Treat no one special.
Well that's a slippery slope.
bro what
We should be striving for equity.
using someones name when talking about them isnt special treatment
Treat someone special, and that's the very bias you're freaking out about.
Not everyone is a homogenous group.
Some people are special, though
Yeah this is strange and I'm not enjoying what Rabbit is dogwhistling
Best to leave them alone.
probably smart
Let's just all not talk about this further
It's mutated into something weird
I don't even understand what the original argument was about anyways
Issue bit is Bella is 19 now lol
Yup lol
holy fuck
they are
ikr haha
i... wooooow
Bella's nineteen, yeah
that explains the acting capabilities lol
well... then maybe they're not planning for a hiatus i guess
they just go
i think season 2 will still take like 3 years to come out
Anyways new episode drops tomorrow and I am so excited
because of the amount of time and resources
Hoping since she is older that she might age a little bit quicker maybe? Might be the opposite? She certainly looks 14
me too
well i mean, 19 years old looking like 14, i think it's ok unless puberty destroys everything lol
Very impressed with the show so far. The chemistry between the two leads feels natural which helps the storytelling
but puberty after 19 is basically nothing
could be 15 at best for me
fr they are great together
yeah the writing is great, and the actors work so well together.
I think Pedro and Bella are also close friends irl too
I do hope we don't have to wait too long for S2 if it follows P2. TLOUP2 is one of my favorite pieces of media ever. One of the most incredible experiences I've had imo
Elaborate
I loved that part
reminds me of when someone said crystal skull was their fav indiana jones
like i dont dislike part 2, but i have MANY problems with it, which i have stated here
If you ignore the blatant review bombing of P2 it was VERY well received
i mean from a gameplay standpoint its amazinf
It being great is not an unpopular opinion
and the story is good
but told so weirdlt
i have just never heard anyone say tloup2 was their favorite anything
I am here for more "Pedro Pascal plays a gruff and morally-ambiguous bounty hunter / smuggler / what-have-you who is forced to adopt a child" content
be careful with spoilers >_> it's the last of us 2 0 2 2
ikr
give me more
It's not my favorite but it's a top 10
what
i didn't play part 2 😫
1 virtual $ for each ||
(im trying to think of a funny fake spoiler)
i literally guessed what happened at the beginning of the game before seeing it, because to me it was obvious
When Ellie said "I guess we really are The Last Of Us Part II" it really hit me hard
like seeing the gameplay, and reading the synopsis
it was pretty clear what happened
such powerful words
i'm amazed
i clapped
what a shock
but when joel responded "no ellie, the real The Last of Us Part II was the friends we made along the way"
i cheered
i loved it when she lasted all over us (part ii)
points to dead people those friends?
btw when bill responded to frank "look, we can't have friends" and pointing to the empty houses i actually considered a thing
which is bugging me since yesterday.
wtf these guys did all day without radio and television?
Reading, I imagine
man, those eyes getting sore
i bet bill had a chess set laying around somewhere
I'd probably be bored as fuck in a post-apocalyptic world honestly
well probs in a city it would be all too dramatic
i'd try to move the local library to my house over time, seems like fun
but in a self-defended small village with only your husband... eeehhh
would be hard to not go mad
that's probably why he wanted to restore the shops, actually
give him something to do
makes totally sense, thought the same
infact frank has a "healthy" day more or less
but bill, well, maybe he was involved in stuff as well
bill might've taken it upon himself to move all the cars into that pile
They said what they did which was fix up the town.
if he did it during the day he'd be safe from raiders, and we know that zombies are sparse. so it was probably tedious.
Ever play project zomboid? Just homesteading in the end times is pretty entertaining.
i have been meaning to play that, actually
On sale right now on steam if you're interested
i've been playing 7 days to die and i can say for sure that it becomes stressful to defend your home alone lol
i wish i joined a server with other people 'cause alone it's a bit too stressful at some point
Also, Bill and Frank had power, so they could of watched old movies or something every once and awhile.
yeah they had a whole town, in 2003. i guarantee there was like a video store or a theater
not to mention all the other houses that probably had tons of movies and books and shows
I just hope when there is a season 2 we don't get that horrible ||sex scene with Abby lmao||
Video game sex scenes are terrible 9 times out of 10
why is this even a topic to be talking about lol
this channel can get off topic
What
It's hbo so
Oh well yeah lmao
i guarantee they will recreate that scene in the show
it was so awkward in the game though 😭
I love how Ellie can swear but can't look at a ||very adult magazine ||lol
I was reading through the chat and I was trying to see both perspectives but then this just solidifies that you’re just ignorant lol
Nvm, this solidifies it even more lmfao
It’s not even just boomers, I see a lot of kids in my school like this. But there are places where people aren’t ignorant and those are the places we should prioritize to be in
Completely reasonable and fair believe this as it’s your opinion and belief of this idea. However, it’s yours. So keep it to yourself instead of enforcing it on others. It’s a personal belief, not a fact that everyone will share
It was really sweet to see a man so broken and lost in his hopeless state of mind in a terrible world appreciate a moment of laughter and love with a kid that definitely reminds him of his dead daughter
it really was
Same, but then we gotta for more than a week for 6th episode
Not really, it’s just extra two days
wait what did you say originally
Why?
I initially thought it was okay, just nothing new
about episode 3, or the show as a whole?
The show as a whole
i see
i have a friend who's watching the show and thinks its boring
maybe episode 3 will change her mind
Tbh, episode 3 is probably the most boring episode
The first two episodes just feel like the walking dead
Then the third episode just blows it out of the water
Can a masterpiece be boring? What?
Well, I mean, it’s way less action packed then the first two
hahaha
this sounds like an insult lmao
its the last of us day! im so excited
the last day of us (in universe) was in 2003 smh
I kept seeing Kaitlyn Dever in some frames of ep4
Especially when Ellie was slouching
wut
oh god
in the world of the last of us i wouldnt have even been born
wait no i would have
maybe
well i had been conceived at that point
but i HIGHLY doubt my biological mother would have survived outbreak day
i guarantee she was eating cake and shit when the flour got infected
yeah, i probably wouldn't be around either. sad.
Well, you wouldn't be completely alone because your friends come by from time to time
...friends?
and those aren't exactly the best friends IMHO UH
my gf asks me always, when we're watching some dystopian/apocalyptic world, what would i do and my answer is always "dead. Suicided."
i don't get what makes you live in such horrible realities
I'd probably die too
It's better than being bored out of my mind in a decaying world with zombies everywhere
i mean, the prospect of shooting stuff and cleansing places is alluring uh
but i'd try to fight it off like BEFORE it envelopes the fucking world
Don't the zombies all live in agony too
once it happened, yeah see me out
Because they are still humans
well it's very hard to say if they're capable of thinking, given how a fungus infection works
They're just being overriden by a parasitic fungi that controls all their motor functions
like, when you get meningitis, the very terrible variant
you are incapable of using the brain efficiently
but that's another type of fungus
so it's safe to say that a fungus like that kills the host effectively
they're dead
i mean 99% of them no, they're dead a little after infection you'll probably still be alive for a bit as the fungi takes over but most are long dead by the time they become runners
moreso that they're based on the fungis that take ants and other small organisms
they're demonstrated to really be "zombies"
it's much like if you turn off the brain and go with an autopilot
i would be alive
in the last of us universe
\ all my servants worship me and make monuments and art showing their devotion.
that sounds a lot like slavery
No it'd be very spiritual
its almost time
Joel and Henry really giving off "dads at their kids' soccer game" vibes here
Is new ep out
ikr
i now understand why they are being sparce with the infected
it means that when they do show up, it REALLY hits hard
no no no no no no no on
no no no
that was horrible
oh jesus fuck
oh that was horrible
that was not ok
yep.
neil druckman got me crying in the club rn
that was horrible
they gave bill and frank a beautiful episode
but same and henry
the ONE TIME i wanted them to change it
they were like "nah we are sticking straight to the game"
it was well written tho
god bill and frank are gonna be the only characters to get anything close to a happy ending huh
What a fantastic episode this was.. another banger
Such great action scenes right ||man that bloater.. how do you even kill that?||
thats the neat part! you don't
||THERE WERE. SO. MANY. ZOMBIES||
Yup and I think ||if it's one bloater vs many humans it can be killed but otherwise no chance ||
That was like some World War Z-level shit there
Amazing stuff
but like i said earlier, im glad theyre being sparce
because if every episode was just hordes of zombies, it would lose its impact really quickly
but now, you really feel the weight of even one zombie
Hopefully this episode puts an end to the “bUt she’s not intimidating” crowd
Like, the Fall of Jerusalem scene in World War Z with all the zombies piling up on each other over the wall because there's so many of them, that's the vibes the bloater scene gave off
Cause damn i’m scared of her
it was awesomre
The way the hole just expands and expands and expands and then all the zombies just rush out all at once, I love it
And then the bloater, that fucker was scary
KC better put that bloater in as a linebacker this sunday
The Super Bowl will be interrupted in the first quarter by a horde of Infected descending upon the field
it's like the puppy bowl, but with infected instead
Oh yes and she's so ||casual as well about killing people ||
She’s fucking brilliant
Yes she is
||im still glad she's dead though||
do u have to put spoiler tags in these spoiler chats
but damn "kids die is your kid worth all this worth everything" very on the nose
i mean i want to give people like a day to watch the episode
not everyone can see it the moment it drops
but after a day or two its probably fine
Ellie’s little scream at the end broke me
you dont have to, this section is technically a spoiler section
but theres no reason not to add spoiler tags
especially for this episode, because it released early and not everyone might've known that
you might get people coming in here not knowing its out already lol
Well shit, what an episode@
That was more heartbreaking than episode 3
This show is really sad y’all
I cannot fucking wait for the next episode
Seriously
It’s gonna be fucking amazing
love seeing everyone being heartbroken by episode 5
it is truly a heartbreaking episode
Holy shit they let Henry and Sam die
THEY LET THE PART WHERE HENRY SHOOTS HIMSELF INTO THE SHOW
Well that’s the saddest this season can go so
neil said he would only change scenes from the game if they could make them better, that scene in the game is kinda hard to top
kathleen was still trash, she really felt like a nothing character dont know why even give her screen time
the infection scene was kinda corny how it happened like some bad world war z scene, everything else was fine
I swear to god the theme tune slaps so hard
I KNOW THE ACTOR OF HENRY
I knew i recognised him
Nah they added the savage starlight👏🏻
idk which episode is better 4 or 5
fuck what a great episode, i keep replaying it in my head ||wishing henry didnt kill himself||
ELLIE LOVES TO ARMY CRAWL
i wish ||kathleen died a more brutal death than she did ngl, wish it was here that had her head ripped off||
daddy clicker is kinda...
chonky
Wish henry and sam would at least lasted a little longer
the henry and sam stuff was done better in the game but man the way the infected were used this episode was amazing
I hope it’s not the last we see of a Bloater hopefully we get to see Joel kill one
imo the show did it better 10 times
Bro....this episode
Why
Sam could not survive and Henry couldnt endure....
Anyways, bloater guy looked insane
Was that the kid from Barry? 🤡
Oh crap I forgot the episode was out early
Nice eps is noice
How many eps are left
4
Nice
it was joel's daughter from the game xD
just kidding
i think this is shaping up to be one of the best tv shows of 2023
let's hope ted lasso is good as well
damn they made it even worse for ||Sam|| than in the game
||imagine growing up in a world like that without being able to hear, never knowing if danger is around and having to rely on your brother to tell you what's going on.||
||not hearing is a scary thing on its own, but not hearing in a world to wants to kill you by any means is even worse.||
Just finished the latest episode--good lord my heart!
that seems to be the general consensus on it
Ya it was incredible
Kathleen is almost worse than David
OK, wow. Just wow.
such a brutal show damn
i love that they actually focus on the human aspect of the games
and didnt make it a cool fun zombie flick (which seems to be what some people wanted??? weird)
My reaction on Kathleen's actions: https://youtu.be/JPU7q8yXz7s
I love simple response gifs and vids and was shocked that I did not find this
Gif: https://img-comment-fun.9cache.com/media/aYYnWB0/azaX6PMg_700wa_0.gif
BTW, did you notice, that Kathleen ||was killed by a child?||
yup
Another Last of Us W
|| This world sucks to live in. I’m hoping this is the last introduction to new characters. I can’t deal with all these emotions ||
i like the political perspective of this show, like, sometimes rebellions make things worst. sometimes the rebels are worst. organization is extremely important in a chaotic world.
"both sides are bad, but maybe the rebels are worst" thing going on
GAH
Omg this episode was so good!
It was so cathartic when the infected all crawled from the ground and killed all the bad guys
What the fuck is the big infected?
The ending was so devastating
it's a bloater
nigh unkillable i believe
it is killable... if u have a bomb and 10,000 rounds of ammo
This was by far my favourite episode. To the point that I thought this part was better here than in the game. In both the action and character-narrative work this was the definition of what the Last of Us and its world are all about. Also it shows how you can do changes that are short and direct and if you do 'em in a cool way to preserve the essence of the game that everything is going to be fine. Also I'm so glad ||sniper mission made it in the show.||
Also the ||last scene with Henry and Sam|| is one of the most powerful moments in the game for me and they absolutely did it justice for the new audience.
Damn this episode was great
It had everything basically....emotions..tragedy ...action
BTW, Joel is an ex-military too?
No, in the game he's working in construction as a carpenter. I assume the same for the show. He's just a seasoned veteran over the 20 years of the apocalypse. And also he doesn't trust other people, even in the first night of the outbreak he wouldn't trust or let anyone else in the car with his daughter.
Thx.
Also, in the 5th episode scene before the explosion, they sent 4 people to Joel's location, and they just... dissappear )
You mean when he's holed up with the sniper? I think you're right. But at the same time it wouldn't make sense for 4 people to cross the cover of Sam, Ellie and Henry just like that or they would have been shot. But yeah, it's kinda confusing.
Well, the suspense and action next makes you totally forget about that, so our council of nitpickers generously forgives them for that mistake
maybe they were really stupid and got lost
or they were really smart and run away 😄
The perspective is that its not black and white in who's good and who's bad
but yes, this episode was fantastic
it was done really well
Well I would say they keep a balance, they'll probably present the fireflies as a good rebellious organism. It's just their intentions are always hidden and they change quite easily depending on the perspective. And the narrative.
I can't wait for the next episode. My favorite part of the game
I caught that too. Died to a child right after showing no sympathy for Henry's little brother lmao "Well, kids die, Henry." 😭
i know gas is a valuable resource but i feel a fire based weapon would be super useful against the zombies. Like if i was mr military id get them all in a pit and burn them
or even something with drones
this show's making fedra out to be the good guys lmao
I think they'll make the Fireflies being the good guys, FEDRA so far looks and acts evil, anywhere you see them it's something bad.
obv
i was just saying
with how kathleen's faction was acting
anyway
next ep's preview seems a bit more toned down
even though kathleen's people were awful, that doesn't mean fedra was good at all
i mean the rebellion in kansas wasnt fireflies it was just "normal" people
however to be fair kansas is ment to be the single worst area of fedra occupation and they made it seem a little less bad than it was i agree
Observing it from the scope of real life, I'd say all groups involved are the same shit. No group in a post apocalyptic scenario as the one presented in the show could oblige to what we realize as democratic values unless they had very strict criteria about who would get into said group, but they can't do that cause strength comes in numbers. More people means more unpredictability, which leads to chaos and completely unsuitable people sitting comfortably in positions where important decisions need to be taken using rational thinking and careful consideration of long term effects. It's an impossible equation to solve, especially when they have to do everything they can to survive on a day by day basis.
at the end of episode 5 i'm just happy to be "normally" crying, just some tears
instead of sobbing
the amount of pain the episode 3 brings can be understood only when you look at episode 5 and shed only some tears
that was terrible for real, very very terrible
What does episode 3 have to do with the measuring of your emotional reaction to the 5th episode? Can you elaborate?
i think theyre just saying that episode 3 made them cry more than episode 5 did
Well... this is the best episode of the show so far.
yes episodes 3 and 5 make you cry in very different ways
so far i would rate the episodes from best to worst (keep in mind, "worst" is still incredibly good):
5
3
1
2
4
5
3
1
4
2
3 was a crying episode
This ep I was more mortified
And just in shock
Ofc in a sad way
Also I’m with Andrew’s ranking
Thought I really wasn’t fond of ep 4
i liked episode 4 a lot, it had a bunch of really great moments, but overall was just the weakest episode for me
still would absolutely consider it a great episode though
just the least great of all of the episodes so far
I didn’t like episode 4
Wouldn’t say it was bad but didn’t enjoy it
But I’m hindsight it was “needed” as a set up ep
it was part one of a two parter
5
1
2
3
4
5
3
1
2
4
3
5
1
4
2
definitely second was the one that felt more like a link than anything, or perhaps i'm sour about tess not-so-epic ending lol
well yes, but i think episode 4 was actually better built overall, also it's a bond forming episode and i kinda enjoyed the whole fighting scene
(also impossible for episode 4 to be anything else, that's why i say better built)
(episode 2 could be much more imho)
i see your point
the correct ranking
i put 2 above 4 because it has a bunch of awesome zombie sequences
but 4 has a lot of great joel and ellie moments so i still like it a lot
i wonder if the pattern of the even numbered episodes being worse than the odd numbered episodes will continue with number six
i suspect it will
i think 6 will be great of course
but it seems like a slower episode
and then ofc its followed by
Episode Seven
which will be great
but some people will not like it
3
5
4
1
2
I loved episode 4 tbh
It was great
Very underrated
i agree
Episodes one and two were a bit mid tbh
They didn’t have as much of an emotional punch as the others, but they did set up the world well
New meme template?
I love that “ooohhh shittt” moment when the bloater appears, it was so much fun
could very well be
man the moment the truck starts sinking in they're all like "oh fuck"
Bloater looked very stinky
That scene was so satisfying
i cringed a bit at the movement, movement animation was... game-like lol
And then they had to make us all depressed again
well in hindsight i reckon i just watched a small, albeit a bit bad, hope for humanity in the form of a new resistance group, just failing badly
like very bad
i am sad because no tlou today
halfway through episode 5, boy is Lamar Johnson and Kathleen's actor the yin and yang of this couple of episodes
it's real hard to buy into Kathleen being this ruthless leader when her performance is way softer than any of the other ''rough'' characters portrayed by other women in the show so far
meanwhile, Lamar Johnson is fucking Henry through and through
what a great actor
also now that there is another guy next to Joel for a considerable amount of time, it really makes you realize how tall of a dude Pedro Pascal is
Personally I bought Kathleen as the leader and it makes sense that she's the leader as her ||brother was the leader before and she must have helped him too||, plus she's very brutal as well
And the point of her being leader is to show that in an apocalypse even someone like her who seems soft can be ruthless
her actions may be ruthless, but she doesn't say ruthless things or portray herself that way at all
Tess was way more imponent in her performance than Kathleen
and it works really well, cause it makes you go yep this is the kind of person who Joel would stick to and grow a bond with
how tall is he? because yeah i noticed that height difference
yeah thats what makes her scary
she's very calm and collected
but extremely brutal and driven
google says only 1,80 and Lamar 1,73
but he looks like a child next to Pedro Pascal
he's probably taller than 180
Yeah for sure
She seemed like a nice woman, once
But I like that nuance though hg
She seemed like the person that had to force herself to become that…I don’t know how to describe it, but like you said she is soft
But cold
and that doesn't work for me at all, goes back to something Barry Jenkins said when talking about Moonlight years back. Although he is right here, talking about real life and how toxic that type of behavior is, I think a capable actor can a 100% use this behavior as a tool to portray an indeed, toxic character.
||kill them all without a trial isn't ruthless??||
She looks like a psycho. Exactly the type that makes people follow.
Bro I forgot about the death of ||Sam|| and it caught me off guard so bad.
The problem with Kathleen is she wouldn't command respect without an army around her.
She did have army around her
Yes, and that's why she commanded respect. If all of these people came together at random they wouldn't have Kathleen as their leader organically. She doesn't look dangerous and she lets her emotions get the best of her, terrible traits for a person having to make serious decisions for a community. She was a natural leadership extension because of her brother and that's about it.
What I like about this whole depiction though, is that her bad decisions led to the overall logical and obvious downfall of her entire team. She decided to hide the giant hole from her comrades, clearly prioritising her personal quest for revenge instead of the well being of her group, and that in natural fashion ended in complete catastrophe for everyone involved.
Not entirely. Her 2nd in command said that her brother was inspiring, but ultimately didn't do anything. She was more daring, more reckless, she didn't wait for perfect moment but created, likely by paying heavy price, situation where they could take down FEDRA. And that's she has their respect.
Yes, but we didn't see any of that. We were just told (?) I guess. The only decisions she took on the show was for her own personal benefit and her personal vendetta, justified or not, against Henry and Sam. Also killing the doctor is questionable at best.
No, we saw that people followed her, ergo we know it happened. We only see fraction of her story cause it's not her show. But imho the rebellion against FEDRA was also her personal vendetta.
Ya we don't need to see everything.. last of is mainly about Joel and Ellie
