#šŗThe Last of Us (2023)

Ya I like the little banter moments
you just know the next episode is gonna be full of them
Also, they shared an apartment too and obviously were friends with benefits, but I also wonder how expensive apartments are in the quarantine area
might of been easier to just share it
I just wonder how wide spread this all is
Like wtf is happening in Japan
Or England
Maybe North Korea is the only country save from the virus
Yeah I hope we get to see more of the worldwide impact during the prologues like we saw this episode
I think it was in Malaysia
Todayās prologue was Indonesia
Oh
And ya, I hope they show more
Yeah that was my favorite part tbh
Hi this episode was really cool, really loving the world-building so far
I like these prologues cause they show us stuff before the apocalypse started
my old academic advisor is a mycologist š¤£š¤£ i should ask if sheās heard about this show
Me too
The best part of the episode is easily the museum action sequence
It was genuinely scary
And intense
Kinda reminded me of the kitchen scene from Jurassic Park
That shit was weird
See I think they are trying to show the clickers still retain some humanity
I honestly donāt care as much about the plot. I wanna see the father/daughter dynamic. Thatās my fun
Ya heās doing great
Looking forward to mando s3
Same
I wanna see him do just as good with the movies
Yeah me too
I recently watched Triple Frontier because of Pedro (and Oscar) but he's character was pretty much a character
I wish he had bigger movie roles
AYO I CANT BELIEVE MY HOMETOWN IS THE FIRST OUTBREAK IN THE LAST OF US š
i shat my pants when it says "Jakarta, Indonesia" in the start of Ep. 2
That whole autopsy scene was nasty
Seems like it grows from the inside first
btw the actor who played the scientist earlier was one of my country's best actress lol so no wonder she could pull it off effectively
and the fact that it was set in the flour and grain factory really scared me
because fungi and bacteria grows in flour mostly(as i know)
and everyone eats those flour and grain in my country
and im guessing from the setting of the city and clothes, that scene is in the 80s
Um why did the zombie kiss Tess?
I think it was 2003
because the zombie want to connect the fungus with her
remember the autopsy scene earlier? the mouth?
yea
Very beginning
oh yeah make sense
god that ending went insanely hard

Artistic decision
I can't unsee the resemblance between Anna Torv & Carrie Coon.
Anna looks a lot like later season of leftover Carrie
NOOOOOOOOOOOO! ||not anna||
Anna Torv also looks like Cate Blanchett in certain angles
hmm kinda, looks the Cate w/ some wounds like in Tar.
I hope this is not a spoiler to Tar, I've not seen the movie yet(waiting for VoD-tomorrow), I've seen a clip
This episode has been quite thrilling
Loved the cold open
Hope the show has more cold opens like that, helps expand the lore and build more details that way
oh yeah, really good opening. possibly the most interesting scene of the ep for me.
the other being the one in the ||museum||
you can kinda see it in the trailer, so not really a spoiler.
Man I was hoping ||we will get one more episode with Torv||
Same
That ep.2 intro make me hate rice for the entire day
š aint gon' eating rice for a week now
perhaps the last of us was the friends we made along the way
The zombie kiss scene was disgusting
Yous are making me scared and excited to watch episode 2 haha
if you live in Jakarta, you will shit your pants in the opening scene š
You can fill up screen if you keep clicking on the mushroom logo.
that GIF is too big to share here.
That entire scene is different from the game.
I honestly feel like you should beat the game before the show ends. Itās fun catching the references and spotting out things that changed
But then you get spoiled on stuff that repeats. There is different fun in both approaches.
does anyone else feel like this show would make a good video game?
I think youāre on to something
What if Naughty Dog made it? They made that Uncharted movie into a game and that was really good!
Uncharted was unfortunately very mediocre to my standards of "good movies" unfortunately. Works better as a game honestly.
Buzz kill
failure of imagination!
yes indeed
that was directed towards the comment about how some stuff works better as a game
The attention to detail in this show is unbelievable. Itās so meticulous in its story and the acting and the vfx
Can't agree about VFX part. Sometimes lights, blur and the greenscreen are off
Some frames has that hyper contrast and focused picture, that's just doesn't look normal. Also, I guess, they weren't using that 360 degrees screens for the wide shots
Still, the acting is AAA
actually good show alert? Goddamn
the dialogue to f bomb ratio was pretty hefty this episode
and some buildings obviously looking fake, that's about it for my gripes with the second ep
feels like Craig trying to compensate for being a middle aged man writing a teenage girl at times
''yeah surely they speak like that''
oh it was this episode not the 3rd episode
did they shoot the scenes in indonesia?
nope, Calgary xD
yeaaa i thought so loll i was confused how they made it look like indonesia
movies are shot in LA, atlanta, or canada, and nothing else
Hey, Canada is big af
Ellie and Joel had some great little interactions in the second episode that leaves me confident going forward in regards to their bond.
I am in love with this show so far. This episode was so good š
i dont think so but i think they shoot the EXT. scene in the real jakarta maybe
Ellie actor is so bad like her acting is mid
Ellieās actor is so horrible
But great show so far
Incorrect she is amazing and I love her already
The cinematography of this episode felt mostly like there's a camera behind them and following them like a videogame and I wasn't a fan of that. The scenery though and the replication of some of the environments and buildings from the game were insane.
Also I'll agree with sentiments from above messages and I'll add that Ellie doesn't feel like Ellie especially when she's not talking like the mannerisms and stuff, but maybe I'm nitpicking after all they're different versions of characters. Joel this episode was very good, spoke only when it mattered and he had killer lines. The spare hand congratulations line got a chuckle out of me.
This 2nd episode was just incredible, and it ||was really sad what happened to Tess and my god, that kiss||
Loved the flashbacks as well
Also Neil druckman directed this episode which is amazing and I don't think he has directed any TV episode before
i love every flashback so far just because how realistic the psedoscience is made to be
i hope they keep it up with these flashbacks
I think in the middle of the season they'll start creating opposite flashbacks that start giving hope for a cure, to create ambiguity
so i know "the kiss" has been a bit controversial
but like to me it made perfect sense
||it was the fungus sort of adding tess to the hive mind by connecting the tendril thingys||
and if it made you uncomfortable, i think that was the intention
I don't even think that was a kiss actually
Mouth --> mouth
Well, do you count mouth to mouth CPR as a kiss too then?
That's movie logic indeed
Not really but ok
The point of the shot was to make it look like a kiss, even if it's not technically the same š
How many episodes is this show gonna have?
9 i believe
people are complaining over it because they're dumb, that's it
no other reason
Not enough
1 more episode would make a good length
Shows with seasons less than 10 episodes always feel like theyāre missing something
Well the first episode was actually gonna be two episodes but then it was merged
I liked that a lot
First episode felt like a movie
But compensate with another episode
9 episodes spread weekly, about a hour long works for me as well.. these days a lot of shows just have 8 episodes as well
South Park season 25 had what 4 hour long specials to make up for it being 6 episodes I feel like that needs to be more common
I think it will still clock around 10h, 1st and 3rd ep are supposedly 80 min each
Thatās good at least
This is the first show I dread the weekly release for
Let alone it coming out at the same time it airs on tv
Iām so used to waiting around until 12-2 am for a new episode on HBO max or Disney
Iām the type of person to watch new episodes the moment theyāre available
i'm surprised it's 9 episodes long because that feels like too much for what the game is
last of us ep 2 sucks imo, ion care about the kiss with the clicker, still find it weird, but everyone felt clumsy
i bet it wouldve been better if it followed joel actually like stealth around clickers, killing them off one by one, making him look badass
joel in the television show sucks ass
Because looking badass in a apocalyptic world is what matters right?
worst opinion of all time ????
that's pretty much what the canceled tlou movie was about lmao
they wanted it to be stylish and over the top
So like a resident evil movie?
Thank god we got this instead
SO TRUE
kinda. think it like evil dead
since Sam Raimi was set to direct
Ok that could have been good but it would clash tone wise with the source material
yeah it doesn't fit the last of us at all
joel in general is good wht i mean is like his actions or wtv, i imagine joel as a roughed up guy, who gives no shit and goes full on beast mode when it comes to clickers
after all he lost his daughter to the stupid fucking virus
all the chracters are so clumsy
I need to rewatch the 2nd episode, I was barely even paying attention
1 episode was good and the second episode was meh or garbage
like when they were fighting off the clickers, it was so anti climactic
That was the most intense part of the show bro are we watching the same thing
I donāt even know what you mean by clumsy characters they all feel pretty real to me
they kept falling and shit, over some objects specially tess
yes it was the most intense part of the show, but it wasnt intense to me
the whole point of having a opinion
||Tess was dying lmao ||
joel was stumbling too ion know what u mean
joel has 20 plus years of experiance yet he can barely kill two clickers
ion know
honestly i feel like the most intense part of the show was the first part, when joel and sarah tryna escape and shit
Joel stepped on glass one time? And when he wasnāt being careful it was because he was preventing Ellie from doing something that would attract attention.
im pretty sure he tripped or something
He stepped on broken glass
still doesnt explain the fact joel cant take down like 3 or 2 clickers
i forget how many he took down
Evidently a lot of people couldnāt
There were quite a lot of dead bodies in that part
joel is a badass, he's the best of the best, thats why people are scared of him.
20 plus years experiance plus, hate prolly fueling him, i expect him to be brutal
Hate for what in this scenario? What was there for him to hate?
but ion know maybe they are tryna make it realistic
no hes a roughed up man
i expect him to be hating everything
hes rough on everyone
hes not to be messed with
I just played a lil bit of the game where it chronologically takes place in episode 2 and I really disagree lol
Im much happier with the sequence in the episode
Cause that shit was too long and I donāt need a whole episode about clickers
Thereās nothing wrong with the show
Itās been good
when i say joel sucks ass i am talking about like power level or something
i mean u dont have to make it 30 mins
js
idk u can show him doing shit without having long run time
Idk about you but when im playing as joel, heās dying 400 fuckin times to the clickers
cause u suck ass
I'm replaying the game and damn does it drag a lot
I know it's a videogame and you literally need those segments
But can't deny it flows much better in the show
ion kno about u but dont forget joel took on a bloater
I agree
Iām like 2 hours into the game and thereās been no character attachment for Ellie
Like I donāt actually care about her so far
Where as the show makes me care about her a little bit more
the show also allows room to let Joel and Ellie breathe and interact with each other a bit more than whatever the game has done when compared in the chronological order
I was expecting more scenes of joel and Ellie when I was playing the game but itās in fact less and more so just stealth missions which is way too long
Yeah i think their interactions are pretty good in both but the show felt tighter somehow
I also like Joelās characterization in the show more so far
I was thinking about completing the game and then watching the show but it seems like the show is winning me over more. Iāll probably avoid the game and watch the show instead because theyāve been very promising with the character stuff
And worldbuilding
I think you should finish the game at a later date because it's still really good
But overall i think Naughty Dog were at their best in Uncharted 4
Imo it has a better momentum between the cutscenes and gameplay
A lot of critics said that Episode 3 is supposed to be the best episode of the season alongside 7. All aboard the hype train.
Live laugh tlou
weird in what way?
just how the scenes are structured in the second episode. idk. just feels weird, not really in a good or bad way im just not used to it
can't really put my finger on what way
A zombie cricket. Actually, a Carolina leafroller attacked by the endoparasitoid fungus Cordyceps. The fungus keeps the host alive as long as possible & directs the cricket to climb to a prominent exposed perch where spores are released

Gyo?
pedro pascal was def the best choice for joel
only halfway through the first ep but i cant see how anyone else could do "the" scene better
also super interesting how closely theyre following the games
practical effects go stupid hard what the hell
holy shit some scenes are basically 1 to 1 with the game its insane how good this looks
FR, belle ramsey line deliver is kinda bad imo
the infected look disgustingly good dude its crazy i cant
idk man i think her strength is her voice, thought she was great in hilda, her facial expressions leave much to be desired tho
her acting worked well enough in game of thrones because thats what the role required, but ellie is supposed to be at least somewhat expressive
Bella seems to be more of a voice actor first, I think she'll eventually hit her stride in the show
cause she's really good at acting with her voice
i really do hope she does, she really could voice ellie and nobody would mind, her voice acting is crazy
the show is so good at following the games and making it look natural tho holy shit
thought it was super funny how they used the "stuff breaks and supporting character has to find another way around" thing and passed it off like normal
Ep 2 4/10
oof thats rought what part didnt do it for you
Bet you havenāt seen this before
"We're the last of us...part one?"
"Part one?"
im so glad he gets to be a lead in a show where he doesn't have to hide his face lmao
god
the look in his eyes when he's ||beating the fedra guard to death||
Remember when fincher was supposed to direct world war z 2?
I would have taken it
Wonder what happened to that
My hometown !
Shark attack!
"What are we some kinda last of us?"
Fungi like the threat depicted in HBO's new show are real and numerous, infecting a wide variety of insects, including butterflies, moths and beetles ā and at least 35 species of the group Ophiocordyceps perform "mind control" on their hosts. But scientists say you don't need a zombie survival kit just yet.
Fascinating stuff
Somebody needed to ask scientists to explain to them that humans have much more complex and way harder to control nervous system?
Paramount shelved it due to budget issues
Dang
Hey gang! Not sure if allowed - but I'm posting weekly TLOU breakdown discussion videos after each episode over on Youtube. I'm a small channel though so would really appreciate any support š„° a comment or like goes a long way even if you don't watch the video ha. However, if you like the show I think you will actually enjoy the discussion! It's just two friends chatting about something they love!
Anyway I thought Episode 2 was brilliant and wow Anna Torv stole the show..!

The Last of Us HBO is finally on our screens as Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey bring our beloved Joel & Ellie to life! Here on Francis Films we'll be doing a weekly breakdown and reaction to EACH episode - that's a new episode every week for you all to enjoy. So if that sound...
Oh also im doing a TLOU giveaway over there so theres that too! haha
Ya it's not a easy watch
How did she react to the grandma eating the insides out of a body?
ššš
in ep 1 she didnāt mind cause they didnāt have those gross fungi heads or put those nasty mouth things into someone elseās mouth
just wait until ||the bloater shows up||
Nice
Good news: more of this show
Bad news: we get to go through the dumb last of us 2 discourse again
Though druckmann has I think said that ideally he would do the second game as 2 seasons
I'm curious also what they will do when they run out of game and HBO wants more
Cause the word on last of us 3 is "if we find the right story maybe but I'm fine leaving it off where we ended 2"
HBO rarely been greedy
They know how to make great TV. They will make more with or without TLOU IP
Also curious what they do about ages here
Ellie is a full blown adult by the point of the second game, which is doable because cg and the fact Ashley Johnson is not a child
And Bella Ramsey doesn't easily pass for that age to me
Different haircut and some make up and Ramsey will look like her real age
I guess Ellie in TV series will not change as much, like Bella š¤·
He has to, the second game is nearly 40 hours long
Of course there's a lot of gameplay in that but even so you'd still have around 20 hours of content
Oh boy
Canāt wait to get disappointed all over again
My dad will understand my frustration with the game finally because heās nuts about this show already
People suggesting Ramsey being recast for further seasons Ellie are out of their minds š¤£
Oh yay Iām so happy that it got renewed š
I am dreading that decision
Damnnnn... the show that was doing crazy Viewing numbers got renewed? What a surprise.
Yeah the toxicity for Part 2 will be through the roof
I will just not watch it
I'm good
as long as Neil doesn't change season 1 for the sake of part 2's lazy retcons
The thing that gives me an uncomfortable feeling is the people saying sheās not pretty enough to be Ellie. Like letās not talk about a child being attractive thatās fuckin weird as hell.
I get it Bella is 19 but Ellie is supposed to be 14 at this time if I remember correctly
Grading people's worth on their appearances, especially within the entertainment industry, will never NOT be the biggest indicator that you're a vapid, shallow person.
You could look like sloth from the goonies but you could be the worlds most convincing actor and youāll still see people only talking about your appearance itās crazy
But 2 doesn't retcon anything
Unless you think that the ending of the first game was a new thing in the sequel
Like this is the thing I will fail to understand with the hate for part 2, did people really just memory hole that first games entire ending sequence and the horrible things that happen in it
Im sorry the sequel had to spoon feed to you that was a bad thing
i have a feeling the end of season one will do more to tie into the events of the second season/game
because i assume they always planned to make a season two
my mom likes the casting of ellie
"perfect rebellious teenager" is her review
i like the casting as well
i think every character we have seen so far has been brilliantly cast
maybe but i think arguably that stuff works better as a flashback
if you showed it in sequence its just a weird hanging thread that make clear there might be consequences, and arguably neuters abby's experience by not giving it its own spotlight
Today
I hope they build up to the events of the 2nd game more. Maybe not such a large time jump or something.
Do you think the show could go beyond the existing games?
neil druckmann himself denied that, they're sticking to the games
I didn't know that thanks.
I wonder If there will be a last of us 3 videogame. Probably if they have ideas for one
Apparently tonight's episode is going to be a masterpiece, which makes me stoked!
Eating during this show is such a terrible idea lmao
Craig Mazin always has to gross out the audience haha
druckmann has basically said that its dependant on if they find a good story for it but that hes ok leaving things off with 2
I'm keeping my eye out for the walking dead trope of at least one zombie jump scare per episode
to be fair, last time he said something like that, the trailer for the last of us part 2 came out the next year
true.
if they were working on something, they wouldnt tell us
it doesnt mean they are
but like
we wouldnt know if they were
This episode of The Last of Us is considered the best of the season!
I hope you all enjoy it!
Its my second favourite personally
have you seen it already?
I've seen the whole season
also honestly i think it was always gonna be between whatever was the bill episode and the left behind episode
my favourite is the left behind episode
which episode number is that
7
and there are 9 episodes right?
Yea there are
so many
now watching episode 3
||as soon as they started playing piano i knew where it was heading lol||
OH FUCK NO NO NO
THEY ARE NOT FUCKING PLAYING ON THE NATURE OF DAYLIGHT
HBO'S NOT GONNA FUCK WITH MY HEART AGAIN
I'm gonna cry y'all :((
Goddamn it Max Richter for breaking me all over again
I wonder how most people are taking this episode. I felt like most were saying the worst part is they feel like they haven't developed the relationship between ellie and joel so much.
And then they spend alot of time developing new characters instead.
Bill is such a badass though.
we're only a third of the way through the season so im sure theres more time to develop their relationship
People people seem to love it.
twitter is the worst place on the planet
but yes the vast majority of people seem to like it a lot
this is the only episode that i want to rewatch after seeing
i'll watch it again tomorrow after work
im pretty tired rn, and worried that i might have missed some stuff
This ep caught me off guard with this emotional roller coaster.
they gotta stop making us cry
By episode 3, this series is already making the big plays.
Thought it was a beautiful standalone episode
How many episodes do we have left?
I dunno
That episode was so good!!!
not me remembering that we still have to experience sam and henry again
Okay
6 more after this
oh?
OH
So like
I know they said they were changing things up
I expected them to die, but....not like this
This has somehow hurt me worse emotionally than it did in the game
I WAS WRONG
Fuck you Neil Druckmann
I WAS SO HORRIBLY WRONG
now that we are at episode 3, i think i can safely say
they did it
god this episode had me tearing up
they made an incredible live action the last of us
i remember when they announced that they were making a live action tlou show
i was SO skeptical
i didnt think it could be done!
but god damnit, they did it
||did not have nick offerman as a gay libertarian prepper on my last of us bingo card but god damn that was beautiful||
I was personally really excited to watch this episode in hopes of seeing more of Joel and Ellie. But I was pleasantly surprised by this unique and different direction.
|| I was wondering where they were gonna go with the story of Frank and Bill. It felt like filler more than anything and I was seeking for Joel and Ellie. But by the end, it all makes sense. The story of frank and bill juxtaposes Joelās character arc and his own story. With Bill being a character that learns to connect, love and understand the importance of protecting the people he loves, the audience experiences an emotional and romantic journey. Which added a lot of weight to the final scenes of Joel and Ellie and how Billās note changes Joelās perspective and priorities. Itās actually so fucking good because this episode truly goes deep into the themes of this universe which isnāt zombies or whatever but about love and connection ||
Now I want wine
Like in a way, Frank is to Bill what Ellie will be to Joel
I love how || after he reads the note, Joel learns the importance of protecting the people he loves. He failed with his daughter and failed with Tess. Now heās in a situation where he has to deal with someone who he didnāt want to help and also reminds him of his daughter. He has to make it right this time and save a life. ||
sometimes you dont know you needed something until you get it
And the couple scenes of cute and good chemistry that Joel and Ellie have make me so excited for the next episode
Hopefully this time they actually focus on the two main characters because Iām so hungry for the emotional and funny father / daughter dynamic
Here's something a bit more lighthearted for y'all after the emotional rollercoaster that was tonight's episode
||the shot at the end with the window in the bedroom made me SO anxious. i was so worried that they were going to show their bodies or somehow have them be zombies, i was ready to cover my eyes if necessary||
I donāt think I was the only one who saw || it coming that bill would kill himself also ||
Right ?
i didnt see it coming
Same
Loved this episode so much and man, it was so emotional but a ||beautiful relationship between Bill and Frank was shown, they build an incredible life together in the middle of the apocalypse||
Exactly, such an awesome episode this was.. lived up to the hype imo
There's 9 total
Does it get sadder than this?
I was not expecting Ron Swanson to show up having a libertarian survivalist wet dream, lmao
Holy shit
Episode was a masterpiece
Would be shocked if there ends up being a better episode in the future
god this episode got me crying
not bad for what was literally just a pit stop to have the hero be given supplies by a wise (mountain) man
the bit with the gun was a bit meh, it's pretty obvious how that'll go
Apparently a lot of critics whoāve seen the whole show have said this was the best episode in the show which is easy to see
yeah, it was unexpected, unconnected, and allowed some serious cognitive dissonance with the actor they chose and him being a "linda ronstadt fan" cough cough
now I wanna listen to jim croce and linda ronstadt playlist
I DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS TO THIS MUSIC
Well, I know it's kind of late
I hope I didn't wake you
But what I got to say can't wait
I know you'd understand
Every time I tried to tell you
The words just came out wrong
So I'll have to say I love you in a song
Yeah, I know it's kind of strange
Every time I'm near you
I just run out of things to say
I ...

I read on IMDB that there is implied ||fellatio||, can someone give me the time it happens so I can skip it and my family doesn't kick me out?
I think the part where there are two naked men in bed with one lying on top of the other would be the moment to fast forward
Now thatās a great adaptation of a story and character
Works even better when you know Bill and Frank in game
tlou bill > tlou bill
I forgot mostly about the bill from the game and I only played the game a little more than a year ago, I have a feeling Iāll remember the show version much longer
I just realized something incredibly sad about the impromptu marriage scene
Since the outbreak happened in 2003, any big event that's happened IRL since 2003 didn't happen in that world
Gay marriage wasn't even legal when society went to shit
Neither Frank nor Bill had ever had the chance to live in a place where that was an acceptable thing
But they decided to be the first "married" (I say it in quotes because it wasn't official or whatever) gay couple they had ever known
yeah

great episode loved it
They missed a big opportunity with the interaction between Ellie and Bill, thatās what I loved most about him was the sarcasm
I really like the "happy" ending they gave Bill
Felt like additional DLC, like The Last of Us: Left Behind
It was definitely needed
I always found that weird in the game how his partner dying was no big deal to Bill
i like both incarnations of the character. him living on as a badass survivor in the game is good, but his good ending here was also really beautiful and well deserved
he's been through enough
I think Pedro looked better before the shower at the end of ep 3
his hair needs to be wild
Bill deserved to have this ending with frank. As someone who played the game, Bill is actually amazing. He accepted death so he can be with someone he loved. This episode made me cry so much holy shit
Yes. Yes it does
holy shit episode 3 was amazing
i do wish bill didnt kill himself and we got to see ellie and bill interactions like in the game
that is a little annoying
and this episode doesnt contribute anything to the story as a whole really other than giving joel a car and ellie a gun
so as a 'The Last Of Us' fan i dont really like it but as a tv and film fan it was amazing
tl;dr
as a 'The Last of Us' Episode: 7/10
as a general tv show episode: 10/10
so i'll give it a 9/10
I wish we got to see Bill and Joel clearing out the town and also the bloater interaction. Ending was really good but I hope at the start of episode 4 we get the magazine interaction
NOOO WHY GOD WHY
TLOU pt 2 was so bad
game spoilers V
actually awful, ||i dont want to watch joel turn into a fridge character, the entire villains motive be "joel killed some random dude years ago and that was her dad" and have ellie thrown into a relationship we know nothing about and develops what feels like very little (and non at all at the beggining)||
||part 1 started with the collapse of society and the loss of joels daughter, part 2 started with a messy love triangle and joel being killed off||
||also the fact ellie left abby and dont kill her was also bullshit added on top.||
Spoiler tags.. a lot of people haven't played the game and don't wanna get spoiled .. even stuff about episode 3 should be under spoiler tags
rant over
sorry, assumed cause its like 4 years old it was okay
And please specify, if the stuff is from games or not as well
The second game is less than 2 years old
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pl2BMy8wBv8 LMAO, you guys have to check out the comment section on this video
HBO's The Last of Us adaptation is out, and while it's not terrible, it's also completely pointless so far. It's only the first episode, so only time will tell if the show goes off the rails and tells its own story, but for now, it adds nothing of value to the original narrative.

0:00 Intro
0:42 Episode 1 ...
for a brief moment in time, the internet returned to sanity
Literally all of this is in the first game
It's maybe the least surprising thing and people just refuse to engage with it?
new episode was great
The last of us 1: ||Joel is a shitty person who sees the worst in people and murders a hospital full of people and possibly denys them a cure to the pandemic||
The last of us 2: where did this come from this is out of nowhere
The first game basically spells out for you why the second game happens and still people act like it's some weird abomination for doing exactly what should be expected of it?
Remember when the show was announced & people wanted Hugh Jackman and the kid from Logan to be cast as the leading roles?
We live in an era of sad dads wandering the hellscape of society
This comes with the extra knowledge that the Amazon god of war series is skipping the Greek saga and starting with the reboot
would be a terrible move to try and adapt a hack n slash like the og trilogy
Just about every protagonist of a television drama in the past twenty years is a sad dad
but the fourth game is done in the same vein as tlou and other cinematic games so it`s perfect for them
Its also just sorta terrible storytelling to showcase?
Like kratos was sort of a joke of a 2008 era video game hero
He's a comically angry buff man who punches his way across the lands and has weird sex minigames
i do
Episode 3 had me crying
Frank telling bill what he wants brought back some memories to shit I didnāt wanna have to think about
Amazing episode
Definitely the best of the 3 so far
One thing that I find remarkable with this show is every time they diverge from the games it feels right and good and honestly much better
I agree
Every change so far has been a good one
The extra time with Joel and his daughter at the beginning helped build up Joelās character a lot more
I know this won't be absorbed by the masses but this feels like a good example why strict coherence to source material isn't by default the best solution and people who go "the halo writers didn't even follow the game!" Will maybe realize there's a reason for that
Direct 1:1 translation from pages to screen or from game to screen has always felt pointless
Like if you want the original story go read or play the original story
This is a dumb pet peeve of mine but the demand for never actually adapting material and using source material as a crutch has always felt limiting and silly
Halo didnāt execute it well but to say the halo show was terrible is a bit of an overstatement
They built their own universe with the show and it wasnāt a bad thing
I think my problem is more people took the divergence as the cause for the problem and not just a normal part of writing
If the halo show was 100% faithful the first 4 episodes would have chief alone and silent as he drives around some pretty green grass
Would have been massively boring that way
The show tried to take a lot of elements of the new games where they humanized chief and I liked that
I like the inclusion of a spartan team heās in charge of as well
Not enough of that in the games
It was halo 5 I believe was the only one chief fought along side other Spartans
Blue team existed in periphery stuff prior
But that's also an issue that's endemic to halo
The games have a very star warsy story
This eps sucks
But the actual lore and books are dark and fucked up
Master chief in the books vs master chief in the games is a huge difference yeah
I like the memes comparing them tbh
Heartless
Halo games: look at the Spartans save humanity from the evil religious zealot empire of aliens
Halo when not a video game: the Spartans are fascist child soldiers kidnapped and conscripted to support a military dictatorship, about 1/2 die in that process
I know they wanna expand the lore, but it went for so long
I think it's arguably the only way to tell bills story in this format
In-game it's told sort of as Joel and Ellie are walking through the town and as an aside but to do this right we have to spend some time getting to know bill
They probably gonna do it with the brothers
Eh we kinda get the picture with Tommy
Oh no, not that brothers.... Wait, do you play the game?
Okay here's the thing. I actually like the set pieces with Ellie, Joel and Bill
The boss battle and to the car scene, that was when I knew this thing was gonna be fire. So, I was looking forward to it
If they're gonna do this, I think they could mix back and forth with action bits and the flashback, with bits and pieces as s we get to know Bill
This way Ellie does get to meet him as well
Also also, this is subjective. But there's an irl case here similar to their ... Situation, involving actual family. So, it's just not my vibe
1.|| there is 1 fridge character in the beginning which is joel's daughter, the difference is all we really know about her is she is joels daughter where as in part 2 joel is a beloved character and the main protagonist of the first game||
2. ||there is no convoluted love triangle or random ass sex scene in the first 20 minutes of the first game, in fact i do not even think there is 1 in the first game at all. ellies gf is just there, by the time we watch them fuck we know nothing about her and have no interest in her what so ever as the game goes on the character development isnt really there either and she just ends up being a boring character the entire game. this is compared to the opening of the first game that shows the beggining of the apocolypse, sets up an understandable goal for joel and gives context to the actions joel takes in the future and provides understanding for feelings towards ellie he may have at first (i.e wanting to push her away and be sceptical)||
3. ||joel ends up saving ellie and killing the fireflys who tried to kill her even if it was to get a cure, ellie just blatently leaves abby alive despite earlier in the game abby made ellie straight up watch her kill joel||
so no, literally "all of this" did not happen in the first game
i literally just gave u facts about what happens
a fridge character is someone who is killed off to push forward another characters story
It's not out of nowhere that ||Joel is murdered in revenge for the horrible things he did||
Nope, it's when that's the characters sole purpose, not just "character dies"
Literally all of this is in the first game the second game does not take you on some suprise trip
And yes there's a time skip so new things have happened?
Would you like all stories to be static
the specific name for the type of character is not what matters and the fact ur getting hung up on the specific wording does not matter either. ||and either way in the 2nd game that would be the entire purpose of joel. he is killed off in the first half hour of the game souly to push forward ellie and abby||
Spoiler tag that shit
And yeah, events happening pushed characters forward
Still not fridging
Which has an origin where green lanterns girlfriend was murdered horribly just to give him motivation
||joel does basically nothing but save abby and then get killed off by her to push a purpose for ellie||
Name drop with a spoiler tag I forgot who youāre talking about
It's a complaint about characters without depth or motivation
thats what happens. that is the fact, its the entire point of the first 30 minutes
@left geyser this was about the brother my fault forgot to reply
This
Yeah, inciting incident
In a sequel
Based raptor earth believer
We know who joel is and he gets characterization even later on
doesnt matter whether u call them a fridge character or a potato character or whatever i dont care about the name. what it is, is || killing joel just to give a meaning to part 2 i.e a purpose for ellie to hunt abby||
Nope it's to follow up on the events of the first game
It's rather clear what's happening
You would have to badly misread the entire series for any of this to take you by suprise
|| Abby being the daughter of the doctor is not some hacky retcon out of nowhere, it's the least surprising answer for "who wants to murder Joel"||
do you, or do you not agree that the purpose of ||joels death was to give ellie a reason to hunt and want to kill abby|| and so have her go on this "adventure"
Do you understand what inciting incidents are
answer the question, yes or no
Like this is building block basic storytelling now you are complaining about
It's not the sole reason
And it's a dumb question
Because it assumes that's inherently bad to move the story forward
Again, 0 of what's in last of us 2 is surprising to the audience if they paid literally any attention to the first game
it is, ||if he wasnt killed off then ellie wouldnt want to hunt abby|| and so the game wouldnt exist, saying ||the reason he was killed off was because he killed some unnamed random dr before|| is not only an excuse to ||kill joel off and "begin the adventure"|| but its also just sloppy writing
and if you dont agree that, that is the basic principle of what happened at the beginning of the game then you're just wrong. its not like some opinion whether u like the game or not, its the fact of the plot. that is what happened
Not an excuse, it's a natural progression of what came before
If the tantive 4 didn't go to tatooine luke would never go on his adventure
That's how you sound
It was obvious with the first games ending || Joel did a bad and shitty thing and murdered tons of innocent people||
If you fail to see how ||he's being forced to face the consequences of his somewhat selfish actions|| then that's on you, not the game
Yes stories have beginnings and things happen that set other things in motion
That's not inherently bad and it's often a good thing because it helps lay out the themes of the story and why those things happened in the first place
||killing the beloved character of a first game (especially after having him everywhere in the marketing) to give reason for someone to go hunt someone else|| just doesnt do it for me, it feels like a cop out, sloppy writing and like a gut punch to ||TLOU fans who grew to love joel and who went to play the game for him and ellie|| a much better alternative would have been having him ||sacrifice himself for ellie near the end after coming to terms with the wrongs he did to save ellie||
That's not honest to the story that came before, that's a fairy tale perception of what's actually there
You were never meant to fall in love with Joel
But congrats on ||massacring a hospital full of people trying to end a pandemic|| and thinking "I'm a good guy"
I guess they didn't lay it on thick enough
this is all of course only the first gripe i have with the game, not even mentioning several other annoyances such as ||dina and abby both being boring and (imo) unlikeable characters from start to finish. the horrendous beggining and setting up of the game besides joels death and more|| but icba to argue anymore im going to enjoy this first season of 'The Last Of Us' because so far its amazing and if season 2 is ever made i'll just skip it
this only raises my skepticism of any hate on the second game but still makes me step back from trying it
The second game is much longer so it's maybe worth doing the first game first
I have the first one
I forget if that larger PS5 remake came out yet
|| the black brothers you meet along the way who are very much like an alternate Ellie Joel||
Play the first game u'll love it and if u want after try the 2nd game and make up ur mind. But if u just want a review on whether to spend ur money i'd say don't go near it with a 10 foot pole. Let it rot.
If i could get my £50 back i would
I am honestly refusing to take this advice
No hard feelings
just the discourse honestly fucks things up
Lol hbo woke
How is hbo woke
2 man have sex
I did say if u want try the 2nd game
I watching on tv and they cut that sceneš
U know bill is gay in the game right?
Yes but game not specific like that
The 2nd game (as much as i hate it) has a gay sex scene in the first half hour
meant the last part
Anyway good mood for this episode
So just seems like ur hating it for the sake of hating it
I disagree. It adds a lot of emotional weight to what this series explores about love, loss and connection. As well as juxtaposing Joelās character arc
Also they make rather clear Ellie is gay in this game too
If we for the sake of argument just ignore the weird circumstances of left behind cause at this point I think we all forgot that was dlc
yup. so being mad at a gay couple on the show boils down to just being a homophobe
its not like a character swap of any kind so homophobia is the only explanation for being mad at that 1 specific detail
Also the only reason it's really on screen here is that if you presented this info like in game, it would be totally unworkable
there are many valid reasons for being annoyed at this episode, the couple being gay isnt really 1 of them
The awkward thing with last of us is that like many games of this era, alot of the story is through quiet character moments that happen interspersed with hours of gameplay
So to fit the screen alot of that is reworked
its filler is what it is and it gets frustrating when u only get 1 episode a week and the episode u do get is exploring the story of 2 people who die by the end of the episode and contribute nothing to the main characters of the show other than a car, a gun and a letter
not to mention annoying to fans of the game not being able to see bill and ellie interact
but looking at it not as a TLOU fan and just as a tv show fan its a phenominal episode
And be real , i was excited to see more of joel and Ellie this episode
Only to be confused by a whole different side story
But by the end it all makes sense
My god.. this episode wasn't filler.. First of all ||it showed how you could have meaningful relationship even in a apocalypse and second that letter at the end will further motivate Joel to take care of Ellie.. also both got the supplies too||
The note scene with Joel and Ellie would have no emotional weight without the story we experienced between frank and bill
Exactly
Itās literally all build up to Joelās character arc
Absolutely esp at the end, to say this episode 3 is a filler or a waste is totally wrong imo
And how he shifts his perspective and priorities by protecting Ellie
After he failed with Tess and his daughter
But it also gives the audience a big shift and perspective because we truly understand what the note meant
never said it was a waste, it was a good episode i just understand why some people are annoyed expecting more main story and development between joel and ellie specifically after waiting a week and they get 80 minutes of another 2 people
Bill telling Joel about how he learned to protect a life is what changes Joel
and i myself am in that catagory
especially when it plays out differently in the game
I thought we got enough of Joel and Ellie in this category like 20 minutes and more in total.. and it's just one episode...the rest is mostly focused on Joel and Ellie
I can understand the frustration of not seeing more joel and ellie
But like
This episode tries something unique here
This is a TV show not a game, not everything is gonna be same otherwise why even make a show.. just watch the cut scenes
And still gives us a little more of the two main characters dynamic at the end
And at the start
And we got around 20 minutes of Joel and Ellie as well..
While sandwiching a whole ass juxtaposition
but thats the point in a "faithful adaptation"? its not a remake its an adaptation to tv
Like Frank is to Bill what Ellie is to Joel
Yes and adaptation will not have the same thing
Itās been pretty faithful from what Iāve played and seen
But ofc itās not a 1:1
Itās trying new things while being faithful to the storyline
And from what Iāve played and heard of the game, itās not about zombies itās about love and connection and loss
Also important to remember that the show is also for casual audience like me who has never played the game also.. in fact vast majority of people watching this show I think haven't played the game
Ya we donāt need zombie action
i mean as was the halo show and we saw how that turned out, you can do both tho
A little bit is fine though but I don't need a lot of it
Itās fun but itās not the main thing
Haven't watched or played Halo but I doubt Halo had a narrative like The last of us
I think itās better that a show would try something different from the game while still remaining faithful
I mean
Do you really wanna see a 1:1?
A lot of stories that do 1:1 can also be very unfaithful
Like watchmen
no my point was the halo show was ment to "bring in casuals who never played the game" and instead was hated by every halo fan in existence because of how awful and unfaithful it was
so far the show is phenominal but to me personally this episode has been the weakest of the 3 so far
Okay
Well things are totally different with TLoU.. I'm a casual viewer and I'm loving it and so are many fans of the game as well
Doesnāt sound like it lol
Episode 3 for me was the best episode till date without any doubt
I do hope it gets better than episode 3 but so far best episode
I think it will, lots of action coming in upcoming episodes
But I donāt think anything will be beating the prologue with Joel and his daughter
That was great too
It's fine but again you cannot really say this episode 3 was a filler or waste
i think that interview scene at the beginning of the first episode is 1 of the best scenes of the show so far
When it was important for character development of Joel
Eh it was okay
Couldāve gone without it
But itās a decent introduction to new audiences
I thought that interview scene was great to set the stage esp for casual viewers.. I personally loved it
Like imagine if they removed bill and Frankās story from the episode
Then the episode is like 20 or 30 mins long or something right
BTW.. its great that we have a official podcast for this show with Mazin and Neil Druckman.. its great listening to them after the episode
Exactly
Now would you feel the emotional weight of what happened to bill and Frank as well as joel reading the letter
the scene was based in reality and everything he said was factually true irl which makes it even scarier and allows the following scenes where the world goes to shit to become even more scarier
Idk that it was factually true
especially as someone in the sciences i think that scene was phenominal
it is
I loved that Indonesia scene as well
Cordyceps taking over ants is true
That Indonesia scene was kinda forgettable too
Ya I disagree on that
It feels like an extra to the story basically
was having a convo on it with my chem professor the other day in my lecture. was cool
Which is needed I think to show how the world had no chance
molds and fungi are also found in gluton foods like flour and bread too
the only difference is the scene made it out like a very large possibility when in reality the chance we get taken over by fungi infections is so miniscule there is probably a bigger chance i snap my fingers and a black hole appears
okay maybe not that small but u get what i mean
tiny
Of course the chance of a fungal zombie pandemic is very low
I almost accidentally ate mold when it was on my croissant
I ate like two bites and then my mom noticed that thereās mold around it and I was so clueless
i ate a moldy bread a few days ago cause i couldnt be arsed to buy more bread
if an apolocypse does happen im the first to go
Nah itāll probably be me
i knew it was moldy too i just tried my best to eat round it
clearly didnt work as ive had a stomach ache for a while now but oh well lol
What a fantastic episode
Doesn't move plot much but expands the world
Offerman and Bartlett were great
Yes they were
Offermans performance was phenominal
these 3 episodes were a blast i cant wait for more
i cringe at people complaining lmao
joel's voice shaking a little when saying seatbelt...i cant take this
It was a beautiful episode
I keep having to remind myself that this show will introduce us to more of the world than just joel and ellie
it was a good way to show how this impacts other people
I wish Joel shut the gate behind him, I'll be thinking about that.
forget him, just know that if you liked the hard hitting jaw dropping emotional scenes in the first one, youll like the second one. The gameplay was expanded on and honestly worth the price of admission alone. But yeah , theres nothing wrong in getting it second hand or renting it from a library to try it out
Incredibly powerful episode...just wow...bravo
bravo vince
š
hey why does the channel name say 2022? the show came out in 2023
š¤
Bro valid
Bad take
ngl i dont think any episode onward will top this one
Ep 3 was just too good
in terms of cringe, you prolly right
From what Iāve seen from critics this episode and the finale are the best in the season
youve played the game?
Whatās ācringeā about this episode
stranger telling a man whoās asked him to leave his house that heāll leave after the dudes played some music on the piano, after he himself abruptly helped himself to the piano prior
corny
then asking him who he was thinking about when singing the song? like what???
also why tf is this guy inviting ppl to the other guys settlement
and trading the other guys shit for seeds
like whyās he calling the shots?
i hate entitled ppl
Because Frank is a nice person and wants some friends
Boooo
This is such a normal thing to ask what
friends? look around you, the worlds burning
weāve got bigger fish to fry
dude itās just a song, you donāt need to think about anybody
iām not thinking about anyone when i sing love sosa
itās just so corny
But it could have been about somebody
Youāre projecting your personality onto him
I wouldnāt ask it either, but he did and thatās fine
itās like imagine in a film you kiss the girl at the end & she asks āwho were you thinking about, itās just, youāve never kissed me like that beforeā š¤®
Itās nothing like that
i just like when characters act like real ppl thatās all
he was acting like a disney cartoon
Dude was emotional
A. The trade was for the strawberries, which were meant to be a surprise, and B. Bill has dozens and dozens of guns, I'm pretty he wouldn't be bothered too much if Frank traded one of them
too emotional considering he just met this guy
responding to trolls ggs
Well, no, because most people are dead, so itās his first good experience in a while
Iād get comfortable too if i was given steak after 2 days of not eating
Did you miss the whole passage of time thing? Bill got lonely and fell in love with the first person to show him kindness and not try to kill him. Thereās nothing wrong with this episode at all if youāre just mad because it was all about characters and no action then I think youāre looking for the wrong thing when it comes to this show.
They were together for 9 years about by the time their story came to an end what do you mean?
even before the time skips i was cringing cause they were already acting like a married couple the day they met
no trust was ever built up
Heās talking about when they play the piano
look at how the dude is living
and iām meant to buy that?
Thatās a plot device called foreshadowing
and iām meant to buy that?
clearly iām talking about when he just met the guy when i explicitly said he just met the guy
He was shocked that someone was being nice to him bro
The episode made me want wine and rabbit
this episode still lives rent free on my head

Watching the lastof us makes me realize that I could not survive a zombie apocalypse
AJJ is so great!
Watching episode 3 rn
last nights episode was so effing goooooood
It was amazingggg
The 3rd episode is wayyyyyyy better than the 2nd
bill is a lonely person and the show is implying hes really never been with anybody in my opinion he's desperate for a human connection and its literally the apocalypse
so i think the scene make senses to me
haha, Linda Ronstadt is trending on Twitter now.
Yeah, I feel like Bill and Frank were initially bonded together by loneliness
100%
she's had parkinsons for 12+ years, I doubt she's super concerned
frankly I'm sort of shocked she's still alive
also i saw people on twitter confused by the emotional strawberry scenes???
girl its the apocalypse
thats sad
shrug, some dude in this channel was harping on the strawberry scene too. probably people who have never seen a strawberry that didn't come in a clamshell package from a store
"traded a gun for strawberries!? they're my least favorite flavor of starburst!"
yeah i think the first kiss scene is so good bc bill is clearly afraid to show his vulnerability bc hes never been this intimate before but at the same time he doesnt want to let go of the kiss
The strawberry scene was beautiful
really really great acting by nick offerman
his little giggle is so sweet
Oh i loved his giggle
So people are being ticked at Critical Role's Vox Machina series on Amazon for doing a deviation from the source material...but are simultaneosly praising the Last of Us for being a loyal adaptation...that to me feels like an ultimate hypocrisy.
Great episode!
i haven't seen Vox Machina so i don't have an informed opinion
The Boys is also diverting but gets praise
People just like to be annoying
This should be on a banner
Youāre forgetting that bill hasnāt met a human being for 3 years
This is billās first genuine human interaction
Hi I really liked this week's episode
I never cry with movies/tv but I teared up a little watching this
tess whenever her and joel needed supplies #TheLastOfUs
13708
2237
I literally recommended them to get it for themselfs and make their own opinion š
Imo
ep 1> ep 2 > ep 3
Gotta see
Ep 1: 10/10
Ep 2 10/10
Ep 3: 9/10
hbo built the story of Bill so emtional
I can feel the loneliness inside him when Joel read the letter, even frank still there next to him day by day
fucking ||On the nature of daylight||
That ||song also gets you so emotional||
The ending got me so bad || like I just loved it. Sitting at the open window knowing death but also peace is so near ||
Pedro Pascal is a better choice over those 3 imo
For sure
I like how the casting is just the most obvious names to possibly be cast in this
The most sad dads of all cinema
I love David but Pedro is amazing
Yeah David doesn't look like Joel to me, he's huge for one thing like, he's a beast. He towers over Winona Ryder in ST
Keanu Reeves? lmao
Which is why I ship Jane and Hopper
Ah Hugh Jackman
might rewatch episode three later, it was just so good
Can someone explain to me why this show has such high reviews
I'm confused
It's not the mario movie but it's a pretty lackluster adaptation
Because people like it. But also
using LB, RT, IMDb, Metacritic as a metric of quality
not using your heart
If you don't like it, then eh
That was a little corny but i get what you're saying
It's corny but true.
People rely too heavily on sites to tell them what's good or bad.
If you don't enjoy it, that's fair. If you did, that's fair.
People are enjoying the show's direction but don't feel like you're not in good company here. Folks like to discuss stuff at lengths.
Thanks for being respectful and stuff
But yeah the show isn't for me
Will keep watching it though
Might have some things i like
Seems to get better with each episode
My main issue is the shaky cam and lighting but its improved a bit
Another really good episode in my opinion š
Ep 3 11/10
ep 2 8.5/10
Ep 1 9/10
My favorite in the ep
i am struggling to think of other great episodes of tv like ep 3
IMO the episode was slow. Yeah it was poignant and touching but I hope the show picks back up to the pace in episodes 1 and 2.
San Junipero was actually quite similar in couple ways
i agree
i think the rest of the episodes are 50-60 minutes each
Agree to disagree ig
I've rewatched the third episode a few times now and each time it gets to the strawberries, it gets me
I've been thinking of "The Constant" from Lost, especially cause the enjoyment of this episode isn't reliant on the show as a whole.
worst thing about episode 3 was bill standing out in the middle of the road with a bolt action shooting like a goon, while the only 6 raiders in like 30 years walkin into the flame traps like some home alone clown show was just so off putting
the worst thing about episode 3 was waiting a week to watch joel and ellies story advance only to have to watch 60 mins worth of 2 people who die by the end and provide little to nothing to the story as a whole
people will say "no it shows u can form love and relationships even in the apocalypse and foreshadows joel and ellie" but there is 100 other ways u could do it without making a filler episode and killing of a character that fans where excited to see interact with another. not to mention the game does just that without us watching 2 new characters who die an hour after we see them for the first time in the same episode and change almost nothing by the end of the episode
the longer i think about episode 3 the less and less i like it. i put it at a 9/10 but im bumping it down to an 8
also the strawberry scene is just cringe. i get what they where trying to do and i understand why people got emotional over it but it just feels and looks incredibly cringe.
Couldn't disagree with you more on those points.. if you think episode 3 was a filler then you don't know the meaning of that word, it advanced Joe's storyline in a very important way in that ||he's now more motivated to protect Ellie after that letter||
That strawberry š scene was incredible
Also analysis about this episode compared to the game and it makes a lot of sense
it was 1 odd line from making me completely screw up my face
Nah
filler remains a dumb and broken point about television in my book
and this is a perfect example of it
yes if you define "meaningful" as "anything that moves the A plot directionally forward" and nothing else theres things to pad the time
but that also pretends that everything else is worthless
and that things like "character development" are pointless
this would make tom and jerry the only good tv show
i prefer the game, i dont like watching 60 minutes of a "life lesson" joel needs to know when ive seen him learn it in better and more interesting ways. bill was ment to be a cranky/stubborn/sarcastic man ellie banters with and from that joel learns the do's and dont's. it's quicker, its more effective and its more fun to watch. because of that this episode is pointless, it can and has been done better without watching what feels like a waste of time for 60 minutes of sidetracking
its not a side track, and you are literally complaining about the most fundamental point of a story
for character development
just cut to the end!
its side tracking. if this has been done before in a better way and i have to watch all this for the same outcome its sidetracking
Also we got around 20 minutes of Joel and Ellie in this episode.. with interesting information and also character development
tv shows are a beginning, filler, and end
your version of a "better way" is just less of it
as a self contained tv episode it was great but from my point of view as a 'The Last Of Us' fan, it just wasnt what i was expecting and not in a good way.
like none of this is actually about the content, its that it merely exists and youve been forced to endure anything but A plot progression
im sorry they expanded on the story and it wasnt an hour of just jogging around an empty suburb?
ive rewatched it and i just dont think its the masterpiece people think it is
As a non gamer I loved this episode and I've heard a lot from game fans too like this episode was far superior than in the game where we don't even know Frank
your definition of good tv would make every episode terrible though
lmao, your minds not gonna be changed and neither is mine.
yes because im literate in what television is
thats just dumb too, i dont expect an hour of rummaging around old buildings
but nice strawman lmao
you havent actually raised a problem with the script
just that theres too much of it
who needs things like "plot" and "characters"
show sad dad shooty zombie!
For me this episode was a masterpiece and a lot of people it seems loved it too, like looking at tweets of so many people loving this
"filler" remains an all time dumb complaint.
then cope. i think its filler and cringy boring one at that. its been done in a shorter yes but also more fun and engaging way that also includes the main characters. changing it to this was both unnecessary, tedious (both in length and script) and a troubling look for the rest of the show. wonder what else they're gonna change
look filler isnt real
its a term invented by anime fans who dont understand fiction
i did read it
it wasnt that long
i clicked send and as soon as i did u already typed, u saw "i think its filler" and decided to start typing
