There's a book called Introduction to Classical Mechanics with Problems and Solutions by David Morin. Consider using it. Calculus is sufficient for the book. It has some great problems, many quite challenging ones too.

#

Also, the Lagrangian for a double pendulum shouldn't be that much of a mess lol.

#

Consider going through the theory and looking through examples to get a better idea of what is going on so that you can solve problems more efficiently. It is very much at an introductory level, but very well explained.

If this is good enough, feel free to close the channel. Also, for resources and book recs along such lines there is #book-recommendations

Well if you have many degrees of freedom then you can use lagrangian instead of newtons

Relativistic

And that is not the technically correct description of an electron's motion.

#

For starters, it doesn't have a well defined trajectory.

#

Ik I'm being pedantic here but if you just said classical point charge instead of electron, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Guys guys

It’s okay

I mean even this is technically incorrect because this just assumes the Coulomb potential.

Just stop. You were wrong and misleading a student. You still are wrong and have to rely on an LLM trained on a lot of incorrect data to suggest you aren't.

@crystal perch I think you can have a lot of fun with messing around with the classical view of the hydrogen atom. You don't need the lagrangian for this at all, it is sufficient to use newtonian mechanics, but deriving the speed of the electron in the classical model of hydrogen using the lagranigan might be cool. Just an idea!

Like im not trying to insult you, its just like you should understand that its embarrassing to reply to someone with a chatgpt screenshot

If you search for pdfs and things yourself youll find much more straightforward and credible answers to your questions
