alright, id love that... bc i dont even rlly kno where to start...

#

tbh idek where to start. i always rabbit hole too far

grim umbra
#

when did we become friend

#

mr white

shy hound
#

well last semester i only got to recognize the patterns of basic rules of differentiating

#

ive since forgot bc i havent practiced, but im not good with trig and never learned integrals

grim umbra
#

ah alright so lets start with differentiation ig

shy hound
#

to find a specific point of a rate of change... or something like that

#

i think

#

yeah... oh i also realized i really struggle with graphing ๐Ÿ˜ญ

grim umbra
shy hound
#

uhh tbh im very shaky, but im sure once i practice with them itll come back

shy hound
#

and thats the reason it needs to be constant

#

yeah and that gets us to limits

#

ok ok

grim umbra
#

uhh back

#

i went to get my water bottle

#

sorry

shy hound
#

lmao ๐Ÿ˜ญ nah im so lost cant lie

#

i appreciate the help

grim umbra
#

ok so this is basically the slope...

shy hound
#

yup got that

#

need some clarification on this.. sorry wdym

grim umbra
#

ouch

#

im just built different

shy hound
#

lmao its good it'll help w my understanding

#

and then i obv need a bunch of practice with this stuff, but ive never understood riemann summs or integrals

grim umbra
#

think of it like ts... if we move out points closer and closer we get a better idea of slope at some specific point

grim umbra
#

now differentiation is basically that

#

finding slope

#

with points being

#

infinitetly close

#

to each other

shy hound
#

hold up, (again sorry)

#

im not good with trig... tangent is the slope?

grim umbra
#

yes

shy hound
#

omg wait im smiling sm ty ty

#

ty and then sorry to bother

#

but could u help me out a little with riemann summs and integrals perchance

#

so thankful truly

#

lmao

#

okay and how do i write that... ive been confused heavily by the notation of it

grim umbra
#

im sorry im just using ms paint to drew shitty lines xD

rich glacier
#

if it goes to infinity we call it the limiting value

#

or the integral

#

although sums will roughly converge to that anyways

shy hound
rich glacier
#

so in this stage you can say those are synonymous

#

it's also important to note that generally the rectangle widths will go to 0

#

vs. the number of rectangles going to infinity

#

although it is important to note these are synonymous when dealing with riemann sums

#

the integral also has it just that they use another delta

#

(b - a)/n is what people would call the uniform delta

#

wtv it's called

#

because for any time in the sum, it won't change

#

sometimes there are integrals that you can tweak where it isn't (b - a)/n

#

esp. for step functions

#

although it's easy to show the delta you pick doesn't matter a lot here

#

as long as you pick the right points

shy hound
#

maybe...

rich glacier
#

that's very important to note

shy hound
#

yeah im hoping so

rich glacier
#

because the integral is when the rectangle widths go infinitely small

#

but the sum is when the rectangle widths go small, just not infinitely small

grim umbra
#

( b- a )/ n is the delta x ... the pic is basically saying the value of function at x* x* is basically a + (b-a)i/n

shy hound
#

lmao yeah imma go back and write them in my notes ty very much ๐Ÿ˜ญ

grim umbra
#

ms paint

shy hound
#

paint i believe

#

alright lol thank yall sm...

#

i have a calc 1 midterm resit in like 2 hours

grim umbra
#

lol

shy hound
#

so any tips to go over/find practice problems for differentiating?

shy hound
#

i hope i learn math to a point i can help others out

rich glacier
grim umbra
rich glacier
#

and calculus in general

shy hound
#

chain just gets so confusing ngl

#

tysm

grim umbra
shy hound
#

and also how do u guys recommend someone to learn or familiarize themselves with graphing

#

and just pay attention to patterns?

grim umbra
# grim umbra just keep remember what u took as the 2 functions

i mean uk the one outside say for example sin(log x) ... so just keep mental note of what was the outer most function and keep working from out to inside so it will be derivative of sin(y) times derivative of log x times derivative of x and so on..... answer would be cos(logx) * 1/x btw

shy hound
#

okay this makes sense to me

#

alright, im going to watch some recap videos on basic rules to familiarize myself... i really do appreciate all the help

#

ill definitely be in this server more floating around

#

i got 3 months ๐Ÿ˜ญ fadee

grim umbra
#

blobcry 1 year actually

#

yea...

shy hound
#

what countries?

#

damn man

#

couple my roommates from india

#

lol they have an accent, yes

#

different accents based on where in india, no?

grim umbra
#

yea

#

anyways gl with calc

#

see u around

shy hound
#

yeah i'll cyu guys

#

ty ty so very much

#

lol i will
