Not really an issue but are these possible to study under a month and a half?

im trying to review for an entrance exam

nova harbor
#

hell yeah if u need them

strange sluice
#

very hard but if you nolife it may be possible (but very unhealthy)

#

pre-alg, alg and trig are the main goals here imo

#

they're all kinda a package deal

weak laurel
#

If you know some of concepts already, it's possible.

strange sluice
#

well yeah if some of these have been covered then depends on how much has already

#

if pre-alg and alg have been mastered then the other three can comfortably come in a month and a half

rocky jasper
#

these have been discussed from 7-10th grade

cosmic pine
#

maybe a bit more
like 2.5-3 months could be minimum

rocky jasper
#

😢

strange sluice
#

actually before that let's address the elephant in the room

#

how much have you already covered?

#

surely you have something here?

rocky jasper
strange sluice
#

none?

cosmic pine
#

sure?

rocky jasper
#

yeah

strange sluice
#

factors and stuff even?

#

oh dear...

rocky jasper
#

waitt

cosmic pine
#

that's complex then

weak laurel
#

Then it's gonna be like 6-7 months

strange sluice
#

hm?

rocky jasper
#

like ik all of these but ion fully rmb everything

#

like these hace been discussed from 7th to 10th gradr n im currently kn 10th gradr

strange sluice
#

ok hold up

cosmic pine
#

...

strange sluice
#

what can you fully remember?

#

like, can you circle some of the topics that you are sure you have no problems with?

#

so that we can gauge your progress

rocky jasper
#

prolly quartiles, dectiles, percebtiles

#

bcs we discussed that last week

strange sluice
#

other than stats?

#

what about anything in pre-alg and alg?

#

those are the big deal

rocky jasper
rocky jasper
weak laurel
#

Like linear algebra too?

strange sluice
#

oh goodness...

rocky jasper
cosmic pine
#

do you at least know variables and equation solving stuff?

strange sluice
#

that's a whole other field

strange sluice
cosmic pine
#

atleast u know some

weak laurel
strange sluice
#

but without a full evaluation of what you know it's hard to say

#

ok here's my verdict

#

I will assume you know about 20% of the topics in alg and pre-alg completely, and maybe another 20-30% somewhat

rocky jasper
#

yeah no if i were to take the exam today id only be able to asnwer quatile, dectile & percen

strange sluice
#

in that case, a month and a half is very hard

honest spade
weak laurel
#

Yeah hard

rocky jasper
honest spade
rocky jasper
#

but those were years ago

strange sluice
#

like even if you burn the midnight oil to do it you'll still have a very difficult time

honest spade
strange sluice
#

plus poor retention probably

trim marsh
weak laurel
#

It may take 3.5 - 4 months then

strange sluice
#

ok too many people here, I'll dip

#

good luck OP

rocky jasper

rocky jasper
#

Idk

honest spade
#

Well will questions be like very deep from this topics? because most topics are easy you can complete each of these in 1 days, apart from harder topics like calculus, trignometry I think 3 months is more than enough

trim marsh
#

I feel like you can still cover a lot in a month and half

#

all the best

rocky jasper
#

im planning to learn these 5 in 5 weeks

#

1 week for each

#

this week is for pre alg

urban heart
strange sluice
#

didn't I mention retention under that message

strange sluice
urban heart
#

Idk havent read that far yet lol

strange sluice
#

yea I agree

#

rushing is a good way to forget everything esp. if done in a panic

strange sluice
#

some won't even bother

urban heart
#

It mighr not even matter for the person

#

Like if math does not concern him

strange sluice
#

her*

urban heart
#

And he just need the grade

strange sluice
#

red diamond there

urban heart
#

I said person

#

Oh

strange sluice
urban heart
#

Mb

#

Ye

strange sluice
#

anyway

#

but how is she gonna get the grade if, you know, she doesn't know the math

#

she at least has to know the math until after the exam even if the grades is all she wants

urban heart
#

No what im saying

#

Is it doesnt matter if it doesnt stick

strange sluice
#

I know it doesn't matter if it doesn't stick long term

#

but I am referring to even short term retention

#

because studying too fast leads to memorization of rules and stuff, and one curveball question later...

urban heart
#

I told her in the other chat

#

That she should like go through them over and over again

strange sluice
#

oh there's another thread ongoing hm

urban heart
#

And each iteration deeper into a topic

strange sluice
#

well that will depend on how she fares on the earlier topics first

#

I will reserve my opinions on that though

strange sluice
#

if you memorize formulas and stuff and didn't learn to think about those formulas, sooner or later you're gonna find a question that requires you to rearrange or use the formula in an unorthodox manner
or, you get a question where you need to combine multiple formulae without prior warning or a step-by-step question breakdown

#

that kind of question

strange sluice
#

now, if you think OP can handle that with rote memorization, I respect your opinion, but I maintain my stance as a bit of a heads-up for OP

urban heart
#

I mean tbf if you know algebra

#

You dont need much brain to rearrange the formulas

strange sluice
#

but OP just said she barely does

urban heart
#

In harder questions you have to know the logic behind the formulas to build similar ones

strange sluice
#

I'm working on information I have personally seen in this thread

#

of course, to us, we may be used to rearranging and applying multistep formulas

urban heart
strange sluice
#

well of course not. but algebra is a big part of trig and a bit of stats as well. maybe not descriptive stats but eh

urban heart
#

Yeah

strange sluice
#

again, my communication is primarily aimed at what I have learnt about OP

urban heart
#

I mean they should put more on algebra if anything

strange sluice
#

it's not about what I presume OP knows or doesn't know, and it's not about how many questions are about each subtopic

urban heart
#

Since everything else stems from algebra

#

Most

strange sluice
#

well anyway I think I've said my piece

#

all the best to OP!

urban heart
#

Yeah rip

rocky jasper
#

tgese were all the topics that were exaclty discussed

#

i know all of these ofc i have an overview but can't avoid forgetting stuff

#

thats why im revising
