need help in pre-univ math
Try using the definition of absolute value. |x| = 4 could have two possible solutions since if x=-4, |x| is still 4 and if x = 4 then |x|=4 still holds
this shows that you can put a plus minus sign on either sides of the equation and solve for both cases
For the second one you should do the same just put Β±
x-6 = 4 or x-6 = -4
x=10 or x = 2
thank you guys π«Άππ»
1st π₯ = Β±4
2nd π₯ = 2 or π₯ = 10
3rd π₯ = β1 or π₯ = β9
if u want explanation tell me i will give
thank you, yes please π
well it means the distance from zero, so it's always positive....
just like
- β£π₯β£ = 4 β π₯ = 4 or π₯ = β4
- β£π₯β6β£ = 4 β π₯β6 = 4 or π₯β6 = β4 β π₯ = 10 or π₯ = 2
- β£π₯+5β£ = 4 β π₯+5 = 4 or π₯+5 = β4 β π₯ = β1 or π₯ = β9
is this enough or u want more?
|x| = ((x)^2)^(1/2) so |-1| = |1| = 1
thank u very much π©·
