No, I believe that because you can see that the vector up the incline is larger than the vector downward, we take it as a greater force, and thus giving the body negative acceleration.
I don’t think it’s necessary for it to be friction because it is nowhere mentioned so? I might be wrong, however.
vector's length scales with its magnitude
so friction > gravity that is pulling down
doesn't it combine with the applied force in the x direction as well?

where is the applied force?
there's four forces acting on it, the aplied should be the one opposite to the friction

it has to do with
the normal being equal to one of the component of gravity
sinc ethe block isnt movign perpendicular to the plane
