you don't need to find x. Just multiply both equations. You'd get 2^(x+y) on the LHS and Something like 2^(n
2^(n+1) on RHS
Substitute x+y=8, which is given in the question
bases are same therefore powers will also be equal
I think I made a mistake calculating the power on the RHS
But the method is same

(I misread the question this is 2^{8} = rhs so after you take log we have 8=n+13/6
