4x – 4 = -3x + 17
...
how did we know to subtract 4xx from x when in this:
x = 3x – (12 – x)
<=>
x = 4x – 12
....
Here we added x to 3x

ok lemme explain what I did:
step 1. the equation
step 2. open the brackets
step 3. simplify the right hand side by combining like temrs (x - 4x) into -3x
step 4. moving x to one side, numbers to one side (adding 3x on both sides and 4 on both sides to do them)
step 5. divide by 7 on both sides
