you can split the integral in 2 by rewriting 3x^2 + 2x +3 as 3(x^2 + 1) - x

wait can i show you where i reached

broken silo
#

the first integral will then be an arctan and the second is just a du substitution

#

ye

dry solstice
#

thank you

#

@broken silo

#

what do you think

broken silo
#

try rewriting the top function first then it will make more sense whenever you split them apart

dry solstice
#

what does splitting them mean

#

and how do i do thattt

broken silo
#

lemme think of a good way to explain it lol

dry solstice
#

can you um record a video of a paper and a pen and show me how you split it

#

like solve the entire thing with explaining

#

if possible

broken silo
#

i can do that lol

dry solstice
#

that will be great\

#

but please dont be like my professor

#

dont skip anything

broken silo
#

i gotchu

dry solstice
#

any update

broken silo
#

working on it hard to hold my phone and write xd

#

hopefully that makes some sort of sense

#

just like how 2x + 2/2 can be split into 2x/2 + 2/2 integrals work the same

dry solstice
#

ill rewatch it\

#

thank you so much!

broken silo
#

basically as soon as you see you cant do a regular substitution think of a way you can write it so that one of your trig substitutions will work

dry solstice
#

who do you learn all this from by the way

#

\is there a specific guy in youtube you watch

broken silo
#

step by step calculators

#

its hard to find youtube videos that run into the same specific issue as you but the calculators will write it out step by step

lol the rest of the solution was clever I didn’t spot it, everything still works perfectly
