#Similarity In Right Triangles
115 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
let's consider the first one
do you see where similarity comes into play
There's two right angled triangles
One is in the other
mhm mhm
So we can see they are similar
yes
So the ratios of all their corresponding sides should be equal
so the bottom of the triangle of the right should be 9
as well
or a multiple of 9
Which have the have the same 3 angles
But the side lengths dont have to be the same
i wouldnt say i am exactly
You see these congruence figures like they're all the same size
Similar figures are the same figures but they can have different scales
So the scale factor is constant for the two corresponding triangles
right
One has side lengths 10 and 6
would the bottom of the right be 3
i get that much, i was managing until they started adding that blue line
and stuff
altitude
uh
hyspotose or something
and
leg
im being asked to find that stuff which i do NOT get
Firstly
Express the length of this side
In terms of x
9x
Typo?
9x as in x multiplied by 9?
yea
Why do you think it's that
No alright so
The side were tryna find
Let's call it u
From the diagram we can see that
The length of u
Plus 9
Is the length of x
right
right
So what is u equal to
In terms of x
u=x-9
Ye
Does pythagorean theorum ring a bell
cant remember it
Welp then you can try some khan academy
not that i know how to apply it
to be frank i dont have alot of time
I only want to know how to answer the problems infront of me as quick as possible
Uh I gtg soon
you still around?
@narrow mirage i can help you if you want
nah its cool lol i made it
the first one is 15x9= 135
no.. x = 25
if you have any question regarding geometry feel free to dm me i would be happy to help
Thank you bro
