Logarithm is impossible to write with function notation?

Hello, I was just learning about what logarithms are and wanted to write them in function notation, however after I started trying I found that its impossible?

What I want to write it as is
log(b, x) = then an operation that would spew out the answer for b to what exponent is equals to x.

Is it true that its impossible?

My example is listed, so

log(b, x) = <FUNCTION>

where the output of the function would be the output for log.

So for example

log(2, 16) = 4

you can use the property of logarithm log(b,x)=ln(x)/ln(b)
