This keeps going over my head
which part is confusing
not sure where to start but heres an intro
reinmann sum, in very basic terms, is integrating manually thru approximating, or numerical integration. when you want to find the area under the graph you generally use rectangles cuz its 1. easier, 2. can cover a whole surface area under the graph (as opposed to a circle, etc). it is only a way of approximating the area under the curve, where if you increased the number of rectangles that you count under the curve, the better approximation you would get because of the larger surface area you are covering.
left reinmann sum is when the left corner of the rectangle is touching the curve, and right reinmann sum is when the right corner of the rectangle is touching the curve
uniform subdivision just means equal width rectangles used to measure the area under the curve, and non-uniform means the opposite: unequal with rectangles.

How exactly do I know if the graph is a right or left sum
My friend kept trying to explain you start from the right or the left
And I thought I was getting it but he kept saying “not exactly”
He said it could be from either side
It’s either above or below
I just don’t understand
the rectangles under the curve are the indicator of this
like i said in the intro, the right sum is the one where the right corner of the rectangle is touching the curve
and the left is the left cotner touching the curve
i would assume what your friend meant by this is that you can choose to measure the area either way
unless they had meant smth else

When I looked at the sum graphs he was making
It showed two concave up and concave down sum graphs with the bars both above and below the line
I said “oh wait so the left means the short end is on the left side and right means the shortest bar is on the right side”
I had figured out overestimate means the bars are above the line and under means it’s below the line but he said I was wrong and I still can’t figure out how to know whether the bar is a left or right hand sum
I still can’t figure out what either of you mean by corner
