Basically trying to make ODM gear from Attack On Titan so it’s kinda like a grapple hook that can reel in and fly in a way lol
I just need an equation for kind of a tether ball type problem

Yes I would just send the player forward
so if blue is ur tangent line
Or make them drop in a grapple hook fashion
you need to split ur controller input vector into two components, one parallel to ur tangent line and one perpendicular

ur parallel vector is ur movement along the circle, ur perpendicular is ur forward force
tangent line is a line that only touches the circle at one point

yeah i think i understand what u mean now
but this would be hard because you'd have to sample ur controller input and ur ball's position on the circle at small intervals of time and recalculate ur vectors

i could get you an equation but it would take me quite a long time to program something like this
If the player holds the joystick forwards does he just go in circles
It would be parallel with the radius so they would just go forward because the slack in the line would loosen
They wouldn’t really go in a circle because the centripetal force isn’t really there cause of slack

i mean id love to do it (its very fun) but you wouldn't be able to program it if you didn't fully understand how it works

Today I created the design for two rooms created ideas for two rooms created concept art for mascots somehow gotten contact with two famous people on rr to help us promote our group and I’m still up trying to figure out super complex math stuff for the game development group
