okey, so you got 2 formulars with 2 unknown variables x and y

means you need to figure out one of the first to figure out the other one

i asume what the did there is to make both formulars equal to y

and then say that y = y

do you know what i mean with that?

and with the value of x you can figure out y by inserting x into your original formular
