first, try selecting 3 students from 8, like the question says, and go from there
@unborn dune
Please reply when you’re back
What have you tried?
I couldn't figure out how to do it
Lay down everything you know so far
I see
Can you agree with this?
yeah
then I do factorials of other 3 students
Could you elaborate?
I have 3 at the beginning and then we have other 3 groups for each and then I get factorial of each of the 3 groups and I get 6 from each group
Are you referring to
picking another three people?
I don't know quite well what I am doing
so can you give me instructions
of how to doit?
Sure
The solution is quite simple
You pick three people, and pick another three
Leave the rest 2 people alone
Give it a try
ok
so if I take 2 groups of three and I take factorial from each team
which is 6
and then multiply by 2
because it'ss 2 grop
Wdym factorial?
like number of possibilities
factorial of 3 is 6 and that's why
Why do you need factorial of 3?
idk
True
Well
Don’t take it so difficult
Just pick 3 people and another 3
For example
You pick ABC and DEF
That’s half away from the answer
Next, consider picking ABC first and then picking DEF is equivalent to picking DEF first and then ABC
So, divide what you got by 2
This is all you need
what those ( mean?
yes
I wrote that in factorial form
Because when there are 3 teams, 4 teams, or above
You divide them by n!
why do we divide by 2?
👍
and what would be in the numenator?
👍
(8/3(5/3?
OP should focus on learning combinatorics basics
yes yes
is that answer?
answer should be number
You are supposed to do the rest
I don't get what you wrote
Which part
when we take 3 people and another 3 people
what you mean by that?
two take 2 groups
?
or what?
You said you agree with this tho
hey
@primal oasis
I learnt basics
and now what you wrote makes sense
but it's not quite understandable of what you did
I was thinking that I would pick one 3 out of 8 and would get 336 and then 3 out of 5 and get 60 and 2 out of 2 and get 2 and add those 3
together
but it's not in the answers
