Find hypothenuse of right triangle

I have the measure of one side of the right triangle,4. I know the area Is 8.

I need to find the square of the hypothenuse.
To do so I can use pythagorean theorem, but I need the other side of the triangle.

From the area information I can get that the height Is 4.

I tried to express the second side as a function of the height but I get and identity when I substitute intro the pythagorean formula

How do you derive from the area that the other side is 4? Do you first calculate the height using the first side in the area formula and then solve the area formula expressed with the other side?( 8=1/2*4c2)?

The height you have drawn doesn't help you obtain the side

You ought to consider the two sides of the right angle

In a right triangle, the sides are also heights

Why Bad idea
Because if you use that height , you cant directly use the given of the exercise

But if you use the Good idea, you can directly use the "4" side

And deduce the other one
