for the first one, i understand everything up until sin(2.75) = 5/13, how do you get 5/13?

second one, i dont understand it at all.

this is how i understand it...
draw triangle in quadrant 3

cos function is adj/hyp
cos x = -12/13

sin function is opp/hyp
find opp, use pythagorean theorem
opp=sqrt(13²-12²)
opp=5

so... sin x = 5/13
since sin is negative on quadrant 3,

sin x= -5/13

ahhh okay i didnt know about drawing the triangle

#

that makes sense now thanks

for the second one, that's a reference angle.

thats a trigonometric identity
sin/cos = tan

#

this is true for all and everything

#

regardless of the angle/s

OH okay

#

what happens here?

the angle measure π/6 is in radians. if you convert it to degrees, it will be 30°.

the angle given is -π/6 which is -30°

but the condition is [0°,180°], so we need to find an angle which will have the same value of -1/√3

add 180°
so, 180 + (-30) = 150°

#

150° = 5π/6
